I met a Canadian Doctor through my work last week (we are building him and his partners a new building) who moved from Canada to open a practice here in America. With all this talk of single payer systems Obama is trying to create I decided to ask the gentleman if he would take the time to sit down with me and discuss things, he agreed and our families met up together at his home Saturday. I can't begin to do justice in this post to cover all the things we talked about but a few details seemed to jump out at me and I thought I would share them with you guys. First of all, doctors in Canada do not make much money, they are forced to accept whatever compensation the Government thinks is reasonable for each service. He told me his biggest reason for moving to America is to be compensated for his skills and knowledge. The first step in the cause for very long waiting lines in the single payer system is the reimbursement. A doctor cannot get paid for certain procedures, take a simple urine test, some small things can be discovered right away if the doctor does the simple urine test but because the Doctor cannot do "all" tests on urine, the single payer system will only pay a hospital or lab to do any test on urine, blood is handled the same way. So the doctor office will not do the simple test if they cannot get paid to do it. So everything is sent to a "specialist" who 'can' get paid to do the simple tests where the doctor cannot, but that slows down even the most basic treatments. Another great example is a throat culture to check for strep, in Canada it could take days to go through the process of getting something so basic treated properlly, here in America he does the strep culture in his office and the patient is getting treated right away. I asked Him, other than the money, what to him was the best part of being a doctor in America compared to Canada and he said his ability to stay connected to his patients even through advanced medical conditions. In Canada a family doctor is more of triage nurse than a real doctor because the Government will not pay for a family doctor to do much of anything that would be called real medicine. This doctor has two sons, one is about to start medical school and he is very proud of him. I asked all of them during dinner what they thought of Obama's medical plan and his wife spoke first (she runs his office), "What plan?" she said. They all giggled a little and she described the same thing I have said, there are no specifics available for what Obama is trying to pass but the many examples comming out of all the seperate committies do not match up to the general outline Obama keeps promising so what is anyone to believe? They are firmly against a single payer system because in their opinion, it hurts patients. The one detail that all of the different versions agree on is they will work tword eliminating all private health insurance. So they do not support Obama care. He made a pretty good point about America and healthcare, we get the newest and greatest tools/treatments because the companies who design/create/invent these things are looking foward to making money. Canada and other Countries who do not allow a profit to be made in anything to do with medical treatments would never see new products if not for Countries like America paying for them to be created. Once "ALL" Nations turn to socialist medicine, there will be no incentive for innovation in the medical fields.

You want change for the sake of change, you don't really care what that change is as long as it is something different than what you saw before......... I guess that is one way of living your life, but I prefer to plan things out better than blindly throwing money at problems and buying votes with more promises of Welfare. How do we know something that has not been implimented yet will not work? It is called education. If you hold a loaded gun to your head and pull the trigger, will it most likely kill you? Yes. How do we know this to be true without actually doing it? Because we look to those who have done it before to see the results they got. It is stupid to believe we can do the exact same things and get a different result.

I do believe the only challenge will be to keep something in your mouth at all times, I will see what I can do about that Wait a minute, you already have big fluffy boobies.......you want to scoop out the natural stuff and put back in the fake stuff? No way!!!

I didn't avoid any question, you didn't ask a question. You somehow believe anyone who does not blindly follow Obama like a zombie they somehow do not deserve their earned benefits. I and my son "earn" VA benefits as part of our military service, it is part of our "benefits package". But, do not think for one second that I am relying on the Government for my retirement. I am 43, there will not be a Social Security program by the time I would be ready to use it anyway, it is bankrupt. Obama should be trying to repair our existing programs instead of just stacking up one bad program on top of another like firewood.

You Hugo, you said the officer instigated the issue and not Gates. If the officer was doing his job to ensure the people in a home he had a possible breakin call for belonged there, why was it reasonable for Gates to start screaming at the officer in your mind? Do you believe all police officers deserve this kind of treatment even when doing the right thing?

Exactly, the problem is that those who operate these programs are not very bright. There is not one Government employee who would be considered "top in their field", in fact, most would not be considered even 50%. This is one of the biggest reasons why every Government program is so horribly wasteful, they just are not smart enough to do a better job. If they were good, they would be in the private sector making ten times what they would make with the Government even if you add in the kickbacks and payoffs the high up guys get. So, these unimaginative and unqualified people end up running the equilivant of a microsoft company but will never be fired for running out of money. And now Obama wants to put these same people in charge of our medical care. Death panel? The name is provocative to be sure, but to a certain degeee that is a reasonable name because that is exactly what they will be deciding.......who is deserving of treatment, and who is not. I actually like Sarah comming out like this. She more than anyone else in history has been the receiver of the most ugly attacks from the internet crowd. If anyone has earned the right to express themselves on the internet in return, she has.

Obama used the scare tacticts to force the passage of the stimulus bill. He even had a pretty graph: [attach=full]2474[/attach] Right now we have higher unemployment than Obama said we would have had if we did nothing at all.

lol, the Hyde amendment, so why even have the part about abortions if the liberals know that the hyde amendment would stop it? I believe their hiding their true intent behind the hyde amendment, it is smoke and mirrors, as usual from the Obama administration. Obama is not just partisan, he is so radical and socialist he is even scaring many Democrats.......remember how excited they were when they got "Filibuster-Proof Majority"? Now they are saying they will leave the blue dogs behind with the Republicans and pass this without them as well. The American people are mostly against this garbage. The Blue Dogs are mostly against this garbage. The Republicans are against this garbage. The independants that got Obama elected are against this garbage. The only people who actually want this legislation is a tiny minority of voters and the wacko socialists in public office who refuse to listen to the people.

So that would include every Liberal including Obama because every time a specific question is asked nobody has an answer. Every townhall meeting including the fake one ABC did that was more infomercial has Obama avoiding specifics...... Nobody knows 100% what is in this mess.

Hell I keep asking Bender what "change" Obama has brought to the office of President and he has never answered the question. Obama was elected based on his promise of "change". In general, most average people hate the tone of Washington so Obama promising to change how things are done in Washington was what got him elected, not any one policy. Obama is dropping fast in the polls because more and more people are seeing the real Obama who is 100% partisan, 100% exactly like every other Washington politician who has ever held the job of President. Sad really, the dream Obama sold people to get elected was actually a very good thing, "real" change in attitudes is needed, not more blind partisan politics.

I will brush off your attempt to dodge my point and say again, Obama promised us 8% unemployment if we rushed through his stimulus bill without anyone reading it. So that is our benchmark for Obama's success. We have gotten worse, not better with everything Obama has done. When we get back to the 8% Obama has promised America, then we will see what America has paid for all of Obama's failings. Obama took this job and made his promises based on all the information, he knows about stuff nobody else in the world knows about so he is the best informed and made his promises based on his being more informed than anyone else. This is 100% his baby now, he had the power to make any changed he wanted without anyone fighting him and he decided the "free ride" he wanted was this stimulus bill.........

Okay, you can tell this guy is a complete hack for Obama, purely without any notion of "why" people are so darn angry right now. I will not waste too much time on this idiots BS, but I have to ask......do these people really believe they are so special? Maybe I can go along with that People are angry because even Obama refuses to offer specifics, everything is clouded in shadows and mystery with general claims of how we should trust Obama to do what is needed and not bother with the details. Everything is rush, rush, rush, get it passed and even play games to get around normal approval methods because even many Fiscally responsible Democrats (blue dogs) do not like this plan. Why all the rush? This plan does not even help a single person until Obama is out of office so why is he claiming we have to pass legislation without discussing the specific details? Because they are pulling a 'bait and switch'. The budget office has already said this will not reduce costs as Obama claimed, so there goes that reason. This is not 'budget neutral' as he promised, so there goes that idea. There is no immediate help to a single American so there goes the need to rush idea. Everything Obama claims has been proven to be wrong.....so why be in such a rush to pass somthing that does not look anything like his promises? Because it is about the power, not helping people. Just because people are angry, that does not mean their concerns are "FAKE". These are real people with real concerns, why is it only liberal/socialist protesters are genuine to elitist people like Obama?

Let me know when we get to the 8% Obama promised us as the reason we had to rush through the stimulus bill without a single person reading it.

You have no idea how many times I told myself the exact same thing.......well.....not the man part, I know I will always have RO if I decide to go to men Seriously though, I just knew my experiences with women had scarred me beyond any chance of ever finding a woman who I could trust, and who would have the ability to get past my scars..........but one day that changed for me, I met someone who was able to stand up to that challenge. How did I get to that point? I am sure it is different for everyone even if it is small differences but for me I had two issues. I was scared of 'new' pain/betrayal, and I was holding a lot of unrealistic self-blame for what had already happened to me. To a certain extent, I had to forgive myself before I could move foward. Is it possible your doing the same thing I did? Are you blaming yourself?

Funny as hell actually, but of course that is not what is happening. Sure, I bet there are several people helping communities to form protests, but the people themselves are real, I have gone to many myself and to the "tea parties" before. I am real person, a real tax payer, a real voter, and I speak out against socialist healthcare programs because I am really against them, not because anyone else tells me to.

The thing is "Democrats" do not want a single payer system or a Government run insurance company. Only the most radical elements want those things and current polls show a massive drop in support for Obama's plan........why? Because he can't explain it. Well, let me rephrase that, he has the ability to explain it, but he can't tell the truth about it so he keeps all his comments very genaral and non-specific so people can't claim he lied later. As some of the details of the many plans are being released, more and more people (including Democrats) are speaking out against it. The "traitor" blue dogs you disrespect Bender are speaking for the majority of Democrats, maybe you should offer them a little more respect.

Bender, your supportive of erasing insurance companies, taking over private companies like GM, you want Obama to break all his promises and enact purely socialist ideas, how can you at the same time say you would support Ron Paul who would not do any of those things and is one of the biggest "complainers" against the things Obama is currently doing? Are you an anarchist? Radical change for the sake of change without direction? Why should you support things like Capitalist views? Well you say your starting your own business, your looking like a Capitalist to me. Why not support other people to make the same move your making? Make it easier to create a new business instead of harder? Reduce penalties for hiring people instead of increasing them? Reduce overhead instead of increasing it? Reward those who get off their behinds and work instead of rewarding only the lazy?

Yep, RO gets to play the man when the sun is in the sky, but things change considerably when the sun goes down, let's just say RO does a great impression of the setting sun, instead of the horizon we have the blankets, lol. Louis (me) is a guy with many facets. I was raised 'country' working on a farm and raised on traditional values to include holding family to be the most important thing in my life. I fell in love with making money at an early age, I even had my own worm selling business with a local bait shop owner where I suipplied all his worms. I have run many businesses from those days, some have not done very well, others have done extremely well and I have sold a few and retained a small percentage of ownership to get a little income from many sources. To me it is not the money itself, but the challenge of making it, the money is the result but the challenge is creating the successful business model and finding good talent to fill in the possitions. I believe interviewing is my real skill, I am not so good with words, but I am great at non-verbal communication and I read people from their reactions. This is what makes me so good at sales, anyone can preach "the greatness" of their product or service but you have too see how your words are being received by the person and if you can pay attention to that, you can sell just about anything to anyone. But, I will not "rip anyone off". I departed a very good job because they were padding my clients accounts with charges because they knew my people would never question me, when I found out what was happening I informed my clients what happened and quit.........three days later one of those clients called me and offered me a job with almost twice the salary and commissions. Having morals does pay off. I have been through two divorces, the first caused by my wife getting hooked on crack cocain and many treatment attempts that failed. It took about three years to completely erase our money. I had sold just about everything we owned and borrowed money from every possible source and still my wife was hooked after the best treatment centers tried and failed to help her. One place kept her for over a year and still the first chance she got, my wife dissapeared to go chase crack. We had one child and he is a Marine today. Everything I had to go through was worth it to have him, I am a very proud daddy. I got married again and we had two children together. We did pretty well but she got involved with a guy on the internet and decided life with him was more desirable so she took off but unfortunately he died in a car accident right after getting her pregnant.......she tried to come back home but once trust is broken, it can never be repaired so this has made her very bitter, we clash sometimes but I always try to remember that it is my kids that matter, not me. I have finally found (what I believe to be) love, and it is a feeling I really never knew before meeting her, ya I know that sounds silly and even stupid to some, but that is how I feel, I hope I never lose touch with this this magic. I love football in general but mostly I am hooked on college level, to see kids play this game from passion and love more than the money (most know they will never play in the pro's) is magical to watch. I am of course a Florida Gator fan, but I support all of Florida sports. I play raquetball, salt water fishing, boating in any form is sooting to me, my ultimate vacation would include sailing around the world but that will have to wait for retirement I am sure, hard to take that much time off work. I feel a great deal of pride in all my children. It seems my kids were destined to have challenges in the mom/dad relationship department but maybe in some ways that makes them stronger as long as their getting enough support and love. My oldest feeling a responsibility to his Country to serve was a very big accomplishment in my mind, so many Americans actually disrespect their Country, the constitution and the military/police that me having a kid who does not follow that trend was great. Now for the other two Why should people get to know me? Well, to be honest my debating on forums is my attempt to exercise my word skills because I know that is my weakest element. If any of you met me in person you would not believe I am the same person because I do way, way better when I can pick up on your non-verbal cues. I am still the same person and hold the same beliefs, but I can see when people close off and simply stop, why push it if they are not receptive? The exception would be when I go to meet with my represenatives of my Government. I tell them exactly how I feel. I am a good person. I serve my family and my community and my Country with the knowledge that being completely selfish is not going to get me anything good in this life but.....my drive to be successful helped to make me a responsible person. Responsibility. My contribution to any discussion that most never see is responsibility. While people are talking political agendas and making excuses from every conceivable direction I do not lose sight of the responsibility for each of us for what we do.....or don't do. I believe responsibility is the one thing most people are running away from the most these days. As far as other people are concerned, I have said over and over again that I find all of you to be very great to debate and talk with. My only complaint is when things turn to personal attacks, I don't know how to change that part of things to be honest. I cannot let myself give up on the things I find to be important in life just to appease other people, that is something I do not have the capacity for.

Exactly, sometimes I wonder about how some people seem to lack any connection to reality.
