I agree with this and was trying to say that myself but I guess I didn't do a good job of it. From day one I said there was no way Obama cound do the things he was promising. I think your right about Helen Thomas, she has been like a rock in the Whitehouse press corp and for her to take Obama to task it had to turn some heads in their community. I am just hoping the Networks move back to reporting instead of being part of the Obama administration.

I can't grasp your point? What gives you that idea? Because I didn't agree with it? I can easily understand your point but in my opinion I don't see it as any change at all. If this was something new maybe, but the Federal Government has been using sticks and carrots on the States for a very long time now. Look at things like the road funding to maintain certain highway speeds 30 years ago. Look at conditional school funding. Look at the stimulus package and how there were certain hoops that the States had to jump through to get the money. Something like this would not even be a blip on the screen of States/Federal rights. But there is another much simpler answer.......the States can see that it is important and get this done so the Federal Government does not have to.

Is it just me or has the coverage of Obama changed completely in the last couple days? I have even seen a few less than rosy stories about Obama on ABC and they even handed over their Network for a fake town hall meeting to Obama just a short time ago........ I have seen some discord at the ground level reporters anyway for a long time but they were kept mostly in check by their bosses at the Networks but suddenly things are different. Suddenly it seems like many people are just waking up enough to actually look pasy Obama's pretty words and see the reality of what he is doing. The question of a change is not really as important as the "why" in my opinion. My theory is two sided: 1 - On the whole Americans believe our Country is a good Nation and we donate more to charity than any other populace in the world. When Obama preches about the unfairness of America it turns people off because their view of America is not the ugly one Obama talks about. We need to see more of a positive representation of America by our top political leader. 2 - Defending Gates' over reaction and nasty treatment of a cop just doing his job has forced people to remember his long association with people like Wright and wonder about his true agenda. Obama has changed a lot from the guy who was running for office. Each time something like Rev. Wright would come up Obama would offer some weak excuse and the majority of America would give him the benefit of the doubt....... The benefit of the doubt only lasts as long as the doubt though, and then you lose the benefit. Is Obama to be the next generation of race pimp?

The thing to learn is that Obama really is who we fear him to be. The polling on how America views Obama after this breathtaking revelation on his mentality has been very bad for Obama. Suddenly his life long association with reverand Wright makes sense and all his claims of helping America get past this mentality proven false. If Obama does not come out of the "beer summit" with some real visible attitude changes or the cop says anything negative about the meeting, Obama will lose his support for his more radical programs.

And all Gates had to do what prove he lived there and show 'basic human respect' to the officer trying to do his job. As IWS pointed out, Gates did not provide proof he lived at that home until "after" he exploded on the cop. The cop was only doing his job and did not deserve to be abused by Gates. Gates was the one who instigated the entire incident. IWS made an interesting point, what if the officer did leave and these were thieves that stole all of Gates' valuables? Do you think Gates would be screaming that this same "racist" officer didn't do his job properly?

I don't want the authority to tell a woman what to do with her own body, I have already covered this RO. The choice of what to do with her body was already made when she had risky sex. The abortion is the method of escaping taking responsibility for her decision already made. My possition is one of responsibility, I expect men and women to take responsibility for their choices, not run away from them. If as a society we are willing to kill children to escape taking responsibility for our own actions, then we certainly cannot honestly ask people to be responsible in any other way.

No struggle at all eddo, I understand you very well. You hold grudges and you also believe facts be damned if you can support a friend over someone you do not like. There are already laws governing driving under public safety guidelines. When existing laws were made texting and even cellphones were not an issue, today they are. Adding cellphones to the list would not change anything at all. Your personal rights end where another's rights begin. If your putting other people at risk, it needs to be dealt with. Very true, I agree completely. The next step is to severely reduce welfare so we will have workers who want the jobs the illegals are doing. Right now people would rather live on welfare and sit on their behinds than to make more money but have to work very hard in the sun. eddo, Enforcing the ban on cellphone use would not increase Government in any way, it would simply be a ticketing offense treated the same way speeding is enforced, I even gave speeding as an example.
