And the Nominees Are...

I believe 19 people voted in all...
Kinda depressing - BUT on the upside at least we had it/having it. The bonus is so long as we keep it regular more people should catch on - and when the winners are announced and we revel in that then it may make more people (especially the newbies) more inclined perhaps to contribute the next time, maybe even assist the newbies that come on board by the time the next LPFA's come around?

I know after last year people were for whatever reasoned disheartened, there may be a degree of skepticism. Can't please everyone all the time and some will always cry foul no matter what the outcome. I think so long as we keep things regular and as painless as possible then numbers will pick up. It is a start and a step in the right direction (for change? Enthusiasm? New life?) regardless.

Thanks :)

What is been like 3-4 years straight is only getting worse in participation? Maybe it should be retired. At least hopefully now everyone won't cry about the outcome.

Yeah but for those years (at least since I've been around) they haven't always been so regular or so routine. Seems nothing but negativity and bitterness marred the last one, boredom probably ruined the one before that with people complaining that it was all a popularity contest and blah-blah. The whole point of this is not to abandon it but to set some order to this place. We want regular contributors then we hold the awards at a set time every year and get the word out there on the site. We're looking at ways to keep morale high here, at least higher than it has been of late. Yeah, great idea then, people aren't participating, lets pull the plug, give them one less thing to do each year. Smart.

No one ever said the awards would appeal to everyone. No site is ever that lucky. But the few here who are regular contributors and are regular visitors and who genuinely want some well-needed change around here might appreciate another something to look forward to aside from the normal every-day drudgery of life away from a computer screen.

If you don't want to be part of the awards then don't be. Simple. No one said voting was compulsory. Let those of us that want to keep it going to do just that unhindered. You might find another solution to lagging interest in LPF. Until you do, I say, leave the awards alone.

As for those that cry foul at the outcome - If you don't win it means you didn't get through to enough people. Make more mates, spread the influence around a bit. Participate more in the threads. Don't lurk all year and come out crying at the end that your two measly posts at the last minute didn't win you or your best mate anything. If you want to vote for your best mate do it, but go against the spirit of the awards if you do. Remember it's not the Oscars people. Winning here won't feed the world's starving for crying out loud.

Maybe you missed the part where it's meant to be just for fun?

And granted 19 isn't a huge amount out of the many hundreds we supposedly have here, but think to those names that are here regularly and draft up a quick list. Get an idea just how many people are even participating on a general level let alone in something like this. It's a start, bottom line. Regardless the outcome this year we can, and hopefully always will, aspire that next years LPFA's will be bigger and better than the last!

14 - doesn't interest me.

As for the results - can't wait.

Wondering what the winners will... well 'win'?? Tags? Sig banners? An island of their own? Oh! A band member for the day? ;)

Saturdayish sounds great!

Good luck all.
