here is tha next update!!!!
He sat down in the booth. Melissa came over and slid in next to him followed by Ryu, Lupe, Holly, Takbir, Rob, Brad, and Joe. All nine of them were smashed together in the tiny booth; Mike felt he couldn’t breathe mostly because the other eight people were squeezing him against the wall. Melissa began to laugh but stopped when Ryu actually fell on top of her.
“You guys I can’t breathe…no seriously I CAN’T BREATHE!!” Melissa screamed from Mike’s lap. The other guys automatically jumped out of the booth at the sound of her voice. Melissa collected herself and sat up next to Mike.
“Thanks for the party. It’s really nice of you to do something like this.” She said with a smile.
“No it really wasn’t any trouble at all; anything to make my guest happy.”
“You know what after everything I read; I just realized that all of that stuff is true.”
“What stuff?”
“That you have a big heart and that you’re really caring.”
Mike blushed a little when she said that. Melissa looked down at the table and played with the fork next to the white square plate. She looked around then back at Mike.
“You know who I was really looking forward to meeting?”
“Who?”
“Anna. Where is she?”
“She is visiting her parents in Italy; she should be home two weeks from now.”
Melissa looked back down at her fork. Mike studied her. She was examining the fork closely. Mike tired not to laugh. She looked so concentrated. It was like she was trying to read its inanimate soul. She looked up at the cup of ice water in front of her. She stuck the fork into the glass and watched the ice vapor slowly climb the fork’s spine. She pulled out a lighter from her pocket. Mike was now confused.
What is she doing?
Melissa held the glass up to the lamp hanging above them and lit the lighter under the cup. She stared at her little invention for awhile. Mike stared at it too in deep confusion.
“There.” She said breaking the silence between them. Mike snapped out of his confusion for a moment.
“What?”
“See that?”
“See what? The bubbles?”
“Yeah, but those aren’t bubbles. They’re water molecules.”
“How do you know?”
“I took a class in eighth grade that most people don’t take until they’re in high school. It was a lab oriented class and during a lab I was thinking about water and if it was possible to make the molecules visible to the naked eye without actual scientific equipment.”
“Meaning?”
“One night I was fiddling with some things and found this little method out.”
“Okay, you’re gonna have to explain a little more.”
“Okay well the heat from the lamp and the lighter is too much heat for the water to evaporate, so instead of evaporating; the water molecules expand and become visible to the naked eye.”
“So what’s the fork for?”
“The fork attracts the molecules since its cooler than the molecules. Its like the molecules are trying to escape the heat.”
Mike understood but was a little surprised. Melissa kept her little experiment going without another word. Mike continued to watch her. She seemed very concentrated as if she was looking for something; something that someone besides her probably can’t spot. Mike focused on the glass. It glistened its ice beauty against the light. Melissa’s face was illuminated by the glow. From Mike’s point of view she looked like an angel decreasing in elevation from the heavens. Melissa let the lighter flame decease quicly and put the glass back down on the table. She looked at him and smiled.
“I can’t believe you fell for that.”
Mike was dumbstruck.
“You mean everything you just told me isn’t true.”
Melissa smiled, slid out of the booth and walked towards the bar to talk to the rest of the guest.
This girl is truly mysterious.
