Dang stew, I just got one thru ethan shafer at the org. Oh well.. I need anything else along the way Ill let you know.

Also scored a near brand new brake hub off ebay for $35 shipped.

See, I tried to save the axle/hub b/c they were all chewed up but I guess taking 1/8" off was to much.

Hub came today, man is it mint for $35 lol. Got me some sprocket bolts (rather replace than reuse), waiting on the axle and some brake hub bolts (just incase the bolts dont come out ez), got some cv4 red hoses off the org, got a desert quadtech seat coming. Now all I need to do is make sure the dang axle/carrier is ok when everything comes and sendoff my head when my builder buddy gets back so we can go over stuff. Im confident in my skills but he is easily 3 notches over me. I mostly want him to check the crank out.

Got the axle yesterday and my nice quadtech desert seat. Going to try and put the axle on in a few mins actually. Hoping I didnt toast the carrier bearings from that one ride where I used the axle I tried to fix (its only loose on the sprocket side where I ground the axle down). Cross your fingers...

In other news Im hoping I have enough funds to do the head porting in the few next week. My buddy who agreed to help me do the motor is on vacation and on top of that my pick up needs a timing belt and I really dont want to spend but its gotta be done.

At least Ill have the 450 about 80% done with what I want after the motor. I think Ill break it down over the winter and I think Ill paint the frame or PC if I can get my buddy to do it cheap again (thinking maybe candy apple red or similar to go with the retro CRF/TRX look from the 80s I want to do). Also want to do +1 arms up front and put the MX link on the rear with reworked stockers.

off to go put an axle in.

Sounds pretty solid. I like the retro CRF look that's been done a few times, I thought about doing a bike like Honda put out in 2013 (all white with blue and red like the old 250rs)

I just had to buy new summer tires for my truck, that's nice on the wallet when I'm 3/4 of the way through a rebuild on the bike haha

Yea tires ran what about 600+ easy Ill bet.

Small update: I didnt realize it but the brake hub is different from a newer to old 450. I picked up one off a 08 off ebay and the hub itself is about 1/2 longer. Gonna hafta use my old hub I fixed. After taking some measurements it would appear its minutely smaller after I ground it down so I think its safe to use. Stupid parts.

Edit: after checking it, part numbers are slightly different. I wonder why its different and how that can be as it wont slide far enough into the carrier. Axle numbers are different as well.

Yah cost me 685 out the door.. which was the cheapest I could find after shopping around for a good while.

I had no idea the the axles were different, I wonder if the complete assemblies are interchangable?

Anyways: it all went together fine, the machined area of the brake hub is larger. hub itself is otherwise the same after I measured them up and stuff.

Now I need a set of rear hubs cheap, one of the wheel lugs is bent somehow or another and the others are ever so slightly bent as well on the one hub. Anyone got a good used set laying around they would let go cheap?

i understand they are different part numbers, that is common with different year models even though the part is identical. Just wanted to make it clear for anybody else looking to do this swap or interchange, the axles and hubs are identical from year to year, regardless of part number. Now, go have a cupcake and settle yourself down, it does nobody any good when you get hostile. Just trying to be clear about your statement....these parts are interchangeable.
anything to ******* argue, always have to have the last word.... just go away, WTF is wrong with you

guys, let's not ruin his thread, i mean come on. I was just pointing out the fact that the parts are interchangeable. Sure i corrected his statement and for that he got **** hurt and hostile and has trouble coming to terms, but the real reason i did it was for anybody else that might wonder about this same question. I didn't do it to **** off CJM, i did it to make it clear to anybody else that might read. You guys tend to ignore the subject matter and jump right to the poster. Get a life dudes, i'm here I saw an incorrect statement, i corrected it. Sorry that you don't like it, if anybody else said it we wouldn't have an issue but since you are my biggest fans it's like the end of the world and certainly the end of a thread.
Translated into internet troll: Wah wah wah I'm just a victim.

Don't want to ruin this thread?? Go back and delete your posts and obey this wishes of the OP. Why are you insisting on posting anyway, because nobody gives a **** about your ****** build?

U do think I have a set of rear hubs, not sure of the conditon since I got them on a deal and used the axle only. I could let them go for 60 + shipping.

Again I don't know the condition, pm ur cell and I txt pics..

Got a set from Ed coming already, good shape he says. Id still like to know how the lug got bent, I know the lugs were tight, probably was just liek that I never noticed b/c I swapped from open lug nuts to some nice billet closed ones.

Even if the hubs are in not ok shape, I think you should be able to press the hub bolts out and just press a new one in.

You can, but you cant buy new hub bolts from honda. You can only buy new hubs.

yah that happened to me on my 400ex a long time ago.. How many studs do you need? I have two old 400ex hubs that may have decent studs left
