Does it **** you off when people drive and use a cellphone at the same time?

Me too, don't worry...i get people ****** off at me because if i drive by a person on a cell phone, i lay on my horn, drive by, and make a "hang up your phone" sign with my hand, and dont let off until they hang up...it's hilarious, but yes i think they should lose their license

Listening to the radio, having kids in the back, and being sick are huge distractions. Are you saying people with kids shouldn't drive?

Every idiot that I have seen swerving, weaving, and going ridiculously slow has been on a cell phone, with the exception of my grandfather (he just can't drive).

It's been an offence to drive while talking on the cell phone for ages in OZ.

There was talk of hands-free being banned too.

Strangely enough, CB radios don't carry the same penalties.

I use a Nextel two way radio through out my day to keep in contact with dispatch. I rarely use my cellphone while driving, unless I am on the expressway and there is little to no traffic.

As for others using their cellphone, go for it. The act really ****** me off, but what can I do? I *****, I moan, a fling the finger, a throw some mean mugs, etc... everyting short of running them into a ditch and dragging them out of the car.

Will I used to talk on a CB for years. I don't care if they talk on the cell phone.

AS LONG AS THE ASSWIPE CAN DRIVE TOO!!!! You need to be able to multitask for Gods sake. And have to have your priorities in place.

**** even back then we knew to drop the mike if your going of the road!

If the person is calmly speaking and not really into the conversation that he/she is having, than I don't care.

I just wired a Bluetooth connection within my ride and when I turn on a feature called GOSpeak, I can hear the persons voice on my cell phone through my speakers within my car and I can also talk to them, lightly speaking. It's pretty good too since you can name it an all. For example, you could say, "DeVille (which is what I drive) Call mom"... and It will call my mother. Pretty sweet feature. If I ever get a GPS/LCD nav system installed, Ill be able to say things like, "Take me to McDonalds", and it will give me directions, and tell me when to turn.

I replied to this before but my post despaired. I must of messed up somewhere.

But what I said before was that I drove for years talking on the CB radio. I don’t have a problem with people talking on the phone as long as they KNOW HOW TO DRIVE!. If you can’t walk and chew gum you might not try talking on the phone while driving. Even when we talked on CB’s we had our priorities straight. We knew to drop the ******* mike if your going of the road!

It only ****** me off when they obviously can't do both at the same time.
I'd like to see the person that can do both at the same time. I haven't seen it yet. It is just another example of selfish behavior. I had another idiot today that was waiting to pull out of the school as I was trying to pull in. Unfortunately, she was on the cell phone and so, inadvertently, took up the entire entrance. She looked so confused when she saw me waiting to turn in. It finally donned on her that she was blocking me when I gave her an exasperated look, and put my hand up in an 'what the **** are you doing' gesture.

Then there are the people that are too busy messing with their phone to notice when the light changes. I would never talk on the phone and drive. I just don

I don't care if someone talks on the phone while they're driving. I have a problem with people who can't drive and talk at the same time.

I'm 17. I drive. I have a cellphone. I try to avoid talking and driving because I know that, as a young person, it's going to be harder for me to multitask that way. Sometimes, however, **** happens, and I end up on the phone and driving. Like I said on another thread, I usually only answer if I'm stopped, say, at a light or in a traffic jam. But sometimes the light turns green/traffic moves before I can say "HEY MOM QUIT YAPPIN I GOTTA GO."

So if you can drive safely while on the phone, the more power to you I think.

There are definetly situations when I can't talk on the phone and drive at the same time and around town in traffic is one of them. If I have to I have pulled over and sat in a parking place to talk. I have to be on a road with little traffic around me to be able to talk and if there are alot of turns where I have to be aware of other cars then I don't do it.
There is no situation where you can talk on the phone and drive at the same time. Do you think it is safer because there are fewer cars? Your attention should be on the road whether there are cars or not. There are other concerns as well, such as animals and children. People survived just fine driving from point A to point B without talking to others before cell phones, I see no urgency now. When you get in the car, turn your cell phone off. The three times I have been almost run off the road, it was in light traffic. Don

Not unless they cross into my lane or stop short, some people can actually handle it others cannot like Snafu said. My son's paternal grandmother for example wears the headset for cellphone usage, but files her nails while she is driving on the highway (scares me to death to drive with her).
