wow that was the best game in terms of intensity, insnae finish from captain nihat to win turkey the game, unbelievable
its a real shocker of a season for Cech, losing out to 3 trophies with chelsea this season,1 on the final day of the EPL and in a penalty shootout in the UCL, now to be dumped out of the EUROs like that, especially after 2-0 up...sums up the poor blokes year really doesn it
portugal knocked off by hosts even though they were weakened, this does pose a dilemna, what happens when Ronaldo and co. are not there, good chances by the portugese but cannot finish, one hopes ronaldo does stay fit long enough for them to win it, he does hold alot of the aces,one of portugals weaknesses pretty much in every tournament/match recently is their lack of a clinical striker up forward, germany have klose(hehe.."closer.." xD), italy have Toni, france have henry amd spain have BOTH villa+torres and we saw Nihat win for turkey in a pulsating match

considering the chances u guys had...yer u shuda won, but portugal have always lacked that clinical man up forward, most teams are gifted with at least one(mutu for romania) or two or more(spain-torres/villa,france-anelka(whos a hack) and henry)
today is D-day for some teams, none other than Germany, who face neighbours Poland, this is probably going to be a gritty affair, but either side need to WIN for a certian place in the QF. germany to win 2-0 with goals coming late in each half seems to be the go, as the defence will get looser as the maatch wears on and germany have the big game players, though if germany go behind, it could spell trouble for one of the tournament favourites

well germany may well pull off a shock, i mean look at WC06 where Italy and France stuttered at the start but roared to life during the knockout stages.
for mind, germany have the better central midfield, and certainly a potent strike force, but they only lack a creative playmaker to link it all together. given portugals wing prowess, attacking wingback Lahm may be forced to sit back and this would deprive germany drive and creativity down the flanks.
i wouldnt be to surprised if germany try to deny and frustrate portugal early, then try to ****** a goal somewhere like Ballacks free kick, cause Austria relly did look the goods, but lacked any real edge to them and it was a pretty sweet free kick
