$3.67 a gallon when I filled up the other day and food spiking through the roof as the dollar falls and housing values plummet... Cool.. Prosperity is awsome..

The dollar bottomed out against the euro in March. It's been going up since.

I'm counting on the fact that our "leaders" aren't total dumbasses and will realize at some point they need to strengthen the $$..

If people were smart, they'd do everything they can to get out of debt now. Interest rates are gonna skyrocket at some point here.. Or the dollar will become worthless.

Things are pretty F'd up right now.. the worlds changing quickly.. Lots of people losing jobs. Tons.. Specially in real estate and construction... Pretty much anything to do with houses is in the toilet.

It's crazy.. 5 - 10 years ago, people were fleeing metro areas and moving farther and farther away from their jobs. Now many prolly work to basically eat and buy gas to get to work while their house goes into forclosure.

The core problem is supply of basic commodities is lagging behind increased demand caused by China and India's expanding economies. It could be Thomas Malthus is finally right, or it could be temporary until new technologies are developed. Little we can do short of nuking China and India back into the stone age. The good news is globalization is keeping prices under control for manufactured goods.

This is probably your first mistake.

You're prolly right, but it's more than just that.. Food, like everything else is constantly, bit by bit being concentrated into fewer and fewer hands. Not a good recipe for the future I'm afraid.

Wouldn't seem smarter to actually produce what we can near the source of use instead of "creating markets" to ship **** all over hells half acre? The problem is, we really don't manufacture any of those goods anymore. They stay cheap with slave labor.

Time to increase supply. Time to drill where it's not popular. Of course, more oil isn't any kind of a solution if it can't be refined. AT THE SAME TIME, it's time to get serious about alternate fuels.

Part of the solution:

Air-Powered Car Coming to U.S. in 2009 to 2010 - Zero Pollution Motors - 1000-Mile Range - Popular Mechanics

It seems to me autos could also utilize wind power. If you are cruising at 70 there is a bit of energy to capture.

As oil gets more expensive substitutes arrive.

Could just put a couple of air scoops in the grill to turn a turbine. It would add a small amount of resistance, but a/c use the principle by dropping a wind generator out of their bodies. It's not that large.

I see some genius's in Cali are offering 2 houses for the price of 1... Buy a dump in one area for 1.6 mil. and get a "free" $400,000 dump in another area.. My how the mighty have fallen...

What they don't tell ya is the 1.6 mil dump is really worth $300,000 and the $400,000 dump is really worth $45,000... Where's the jobs?

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/laland/2008/06/in-escondido-bu.html

"We thought, 'Why does it just have to be on Pop Tarts and restaurants? Why not buy one home, get one free,'" Dawn Berry of Michael Crews Development told 10 News in San Diego.

What a ing dumbass...

It appears that the US economy looks so bad and because the dollar is so weak, a Belgian company is trying to buy out Anheiser Bush.

InBev eyes $46 billion Anheuser Busch bid
updated 3:39 p.m. CT, Fri., May. 23, 2008

LONDON - Shares of Anheuser-Busch hit an all-time on Friday on reports that Europe’s InBev SA was working on a $46 billion bid for the St. Louis-based brewer.

Anheuser-Busch shares rose 7.7 percent, or $4.03, to close at $56.61, after reaching as high as $58 earlier in the day.

That thought isn't going over well with Americans or American politicians.

First our money went over seas to the oil nations, then Japan for cars, I'll be damned if I'm going to have my hard earned money go to Begium for a Bud Light.

What are you a Molsen's guy? To be honest, I like Heineken Beck's and Moosehead beer about the best, but when at a place that only has domestic beer, I order either Bud Light or Michelobe. It would suck either way to think that just because the dollar is weak, the largest brewery in the world is able to be bought by a European country.

I see the market's tumbling and oil is rising again.. At what point does this turn into WWIII ?

A global economy is fine, as long as the standards are the same. I'm tired of the freaking lip service.. "outsourcing is good, blah, blah, blah"... Good for who is the question.. The slaves?

Somethings gonna give at some point.. Aint gonna be pretty.

Wonder what I should have for lunch today.. Nine lives, Meow mix, or Friskies? Hmmmmmmmm
