I'm personally going to be voting for Obama. The biggest thing is that he's clearly different than the Bush administration, and McCain won't be. Of course there's always the fact that Obama doesn't have any experience, but then again, Obama won't get any experience if he doesn't ever get elected for anything. He can't make anything worse than it already is. Also, I'm sure that under the Bush / Republican administration (I'm not trying to point any fingers here) there's a lot of under-the-table stuff going on which is leading very quickly into the US becoming a military police state (I think Bush just signed some Act that allows for there to be Armed Troops stationed on US soil away from Military Bases... there could be an armed soldier on every street corner in the next 5 years if McCain continues this...) Plus, with McCain's health troubles, I really don't want to have him in a position where he will die in office. Especially with Sarah Palin on deck. She may be a nice person and all, but she has been in Alaska way too long to have any comprehension of our true international concerns.
I'm pretty sure that the extent of her international knowledge is "Well, a Russian plane flew over Alaska once."
And yes, the Electoral College needs to go. The electoral college bases it's decisions of states based on the amount of counties that go either way, which isn't dependant on the population. A friend of mine lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and he says that in those 6 or 7 counties in / around Atlanta is roughtly 75% of the state population, and those 6 counties almost always vote Democrat.
But the state goes Republican because everywhere else, the other 20-30 counties vote Republican.
The Electoral College is not, by any stretch of the imagination, an accurate or fair representation of the voting process. Your vote really, truly doesn't count if you think about it...
But, I'm voting for Obama.
...but I wish Ron Paul was still hanging around....
