I stood in the kitchen listening to my dad and Rob talk about the evil plan on the phone. My dad was pacing back and forth dragging the phone with him, “Yea, that’s the plan. Fox, Vi, Mel, Sarah, and Rav will be there. I don’t know, I still have to talk to MTV. Yes, Fox wants to come. I think it’s a good idea. Yea, I’m sure they will let them come; they will want to know more about them.” He walked around some more. He finally convinced Rob that it was a good idea. Chaz then called MTV to get the ‘ok’ from them to bring us on. They agreed after about a half hour on the phone with the Ceo. I was on my cell phone ordering some pizza since we had finished the last of the pizza for breakfast. It came up to $50, but that was no problem. Chaz was going to pay for it. I was hanging up my phone when it dropped and I had to pick it up. I bent over to get it, but fell in pain, and then I got more pain from hitting the floor. I screamed out in pain. Chaz dropped the house phone and came to my side. “Fox, fox! Are you okay? Roll over onto your back. Come on! You can do it. It wont hurt you if you’re on your back.” He pleaded. I rolled over and Chaz looked at my stomach, so did I. I saw that there were new places of bruises that went from around the middle of my stomach to around to my side.
I groaned. It hurt so bad to bend too much. I hoped it would heal some by next week when we go on MTV. I was to perform with Linkin Park; they were going to show off my song. I wanted to sing it. It was MY song. I slowly go up. “Don’t worry Dad. I’ll be fine. I am stronger than I seem. I will be fine.” He helped me get up when I couldn’t pull myself to do it alone. Then, all the suddenly, there was a knock on the door. My dad went to get it. It was Rav. I was in shock. I thought for sure that this was the one place that she didn’t want to go. My father just stood there, looking at her. “Erm, Hi Chester. I came over to see how our daughter was feeling.” That was the first time I ever heard my mom say ‘our daughter’. He looked over to me. “She isn’t doing so well. That husband of yours really got her good. She can’t even bend down to pick up things.” My mom rushed over to me to see my bruise. When she touched it, I winced in the overpowering pain. “Uhhh, mom, don’t do that. That hurts.” I said as I leaned against the refrigerator. She backed away as I made my way over to stand by my dad. “Fox, hunny, Rob didn’t mean to hurt you. He was drunk. You are always welcome to stay with us whenever you want.” She said. Chester was helping me stand straight. “Rav, Fox needs to rest herself if she is going to be well enough to go onto MTV next week. Please leave. I’ll call you when she is feeling better.” He said, looking at me with a sympathetic smile even though he was talking to Rav. She sighed, and walked over to me to give a hug. I allowed it this time, but normally I would have pushed her away. I watched her leave, and I went upstairs to the bathroom to get some painkillers. I was also thinking about cutting myself again, even after my sister Mel found out and I was forced to go to therapy. I didn’t cut, I knew that I was stronger than that.
After a few days, I could do more things without getting a shock of pain in my gut. The bruise was going down and I felt loads better. I almost lost track of time when my father told me that tomorrow was my sixteenth birthday. I gasped, “It is?!” I asked. He laughed. “Did you forget your own birthday?” I laughed with him. He told me to show him my tattoo. He went over it with his hands, it didn’t hurt anymore. “Well, your first birthday present is completely healed.” He grinned when he looked at the blue flames that looked just like his. “Yup, you’re my kid alright. No doubt about that.” He cracked up laughing. I walked into the ‘living room’ to play Halo 2. My dad came it, “Do ya mind if I play with ya?” this time I was the one doing the wicked laugh. “If, and only if, you can stand the heat!” he pulled up a beanbag chair and an x-box controller. We sat there all day long playing video games and eating pizza and drinking pop. It wasn’t till around 2am that we passed out on the floor.
