new album will flop

Guys.. Stop judging the ******* album before its release. If you want to judge, give your opinion do it when the album is actually out.

until then this thread is pointless, IMO

We'll just have to wait & see.
This thread isn't pointless because I'm not judging something nobody has heard yet. I'm saying I think people are getting their hopes up about something they have no idea what it sounds like, if QWERTY was a hint then Linkin Park will lose some old fans and gain a some new fans because it's a completely different genre. I will probably buy the album just to see what Linkin Park was talking about, but I don't think I will listen to it as many times as I did with Hybrid Theory.

I am a huge Linkin Park fan' date=' but I seriously feel like the new LP album won't be anything special and that it will sell less than the other two. After listening to their new style (ASP, QWERTY) I really don't feel like they will ever live up to what Hybrid Theory made them out to be. I'm sure LP fans will LOVE it nonetheless, and I hope I'm wrong, reallllllllly hope I'm wrong and this thing goes platinum, but I just don't see it happening if they stray away from nu-metal. I think everybody (including myself) either got, or is getting their hopes up just to watch the Bills lose the Superbowl again.[/quote']Well see I don't know if you've noticed this but bands are starting to distance themselves from the Nu Metal label (Disturbed, Deftones, Papa Roach etc) I'm not saying this is the jusfitication for Linkin Park's sudden change in style. Personally I'm GLAD they're are distancing themselves from Nu Metal because the general conseus is that Nu Metal, putting it lightly isn't a very good style of music. But I will give Linkin Park credit as they were good at that what they did. Also now correct me if I'm wrong Meteora didn't sell as good Hybrid Theory but yet Meteora was in the same style yes? I think maybe they're just changing with the times the whole Nu Metal boom is over or it's dying off. But still I mean wait until the album comes out before you start jumping to conclusions.

Same here. I listen to a lot of genres mostly Metal (Black Metal, Gothic Metal, Death Metal etc). I remember not to long ago I really hated Linkin Park and the only song I liked was Faint. I guess I liked it enough to give them another try and I ended up liking them a lot for a while. Then it just went away. I don't know I guess I just got bored with them.

so I cut down on it I still listen to'em and like'em but not as much as a year ago.

as Clogz or someone said before

All the fans are maturing and movin on to diffrent genres.

and That I hope it doesnt go all that bad

I still wanna hear some good songs that i like from'em :D

I'm kinda excited for the new album but at the same time.

I don't really care it's kinda hard to explain.

Exactly. The tastes of fans mature all the time. People should also take into consideration that the bands taste in music changes as well. Maybe they got tired of that style of music and wanted to change. It's typical and it's happens all the time with numberous bands. I guess the people who listen to Linkin Park are getting their first taste of it. I know it's a bitter taste because a few of my favorite bands, "Dir en grey and Lacuna Coil" did a Linkin Park as well. So I mean bands change. Some fans will like it some will become disgruntled, some will just stop listening to them. But in all seriousness I know people can complain about it but at the end of the day it comes down to, if you don't like their style of music don't listen to it. I mean it's not like you can't enjoy their old stuff. o_O

i still like lps stuff as much as i did the first time i heard it, however i have found a lot of other **** i like better.

thats what has most likely hapened to most of their fans.

that gives lp a lot of pressure with their next album. if it sucks, thats their problem and we are all gonig to ignore it.

but i get the feeling it'l be good.

I don't get why so many people hate QWERTY. That's like the closest song they've ever made that's close to metal. The only thing I don't like is the Mike's rapping. It doesn't fit in the song. I haven't ASP so I can't say.

asp and qwerty arent even going to be on the album. remember qwerty was basically written on the flight over to japan. so we cant say wats happening with the album.

you'll just hafto wait, but it shuldnt be a flop, bcoz it IS up to us.

I think unless it has at least 1 memorable song like Numb or In the End then it will be a flop compared to the other albums but I don't think it will be a huge flop because all the hardcore fans will still buy it

If you have a DJ and an MC you are always gonna be considered nu-metal....LP is nu-metal and will stay nu-metal....LP is really the last true nu-metal band....

That's not true at all. Not all Nu Metal bands have an MC and DJ. Besides which Linkin Park isn't just Nu Metal they're more like Nu Metal/Rap-Metal/Rap-Rock etc. You don't need an MC or a DJ to be Nu Metal that's Rapcore/Rap-Rock territory right there. While they carry the trademark Nu Metal sound but they intrigue heavy hip hop influences into their songs, something most Nu Metal don't do at least not from what I've heard. A lot of Nu Metal bands at the most just had rap style vocals, early Papa Roach is a prime example of this. Now they have distanced themselves from it like a lot of bands that were part of the whole Nu Metal movement. Based on what their sound may be I think the Rapcore or Rap-Rock label will probably still stick. But they probably just won't be considered part of the Nu Metal movement anymore because they don't have the sound associated with it. Hip Hop influences maybe a part of Nu Metal to some extent but it's not it's defining aspect.

LP is nu-metal I know what nu-metal is and I understand that but people considerd bands with DJs and MCs nu-metal. That is what I was pointing out.

Personally I don't think you been on a musicians forum...most people in the music world belive that is main things about nu-metal, but only nu-metal I know that meets those requirments I know of is Limp Bizkit (basically dead for the most part), Linkin Park, and according to Tom Morello he claimed he was DJ in Rage but I don't think that counts cause he was playing guitar...

If most people think that those are the main aspects of Nu Metal they don't do know what it is, because most Nu Metal bands don't have heavy hip hop influences at least not to the point of Linkin Park. Nu Metal is basically like pop-metal. It's the equalivant of Pop Punk really. Toned down version of Metal to appeal to a mainstream audience. At any rate I'm well aware of all this and I go to plenty of music forums thank you.

I think we should cherish what LP really is... Nu-metal or not, LP is LP. We can't transform LP into what we want it to be. And me, i wouldn't. I love LP as what it is, and not because it is or isn't going to be nu-metal. MC and DJ, they both serve as apart of *Linkin Park's* style, and not as labeling Linkin Park into a nu-metal band. I don't care what genre LP is and i don't care what people label them, and i even care less about what other people think about them. All i know is that Linkin Park is my favorite band, and probably will continue to be for a long time.

you contradict yourself.

in that other thread about LP's style, you said LP is exactly Nu-metal, infact you made it quite clear to everyone that thats all they were.

I go to plenty of music forums thank you.
so? because you go to music forums, you know everything?

i wish people would stop trying to label LP to a certain style. If anything, LP doesnt have a set style, they are a rock band whos music style and talents have changed dramatically over the years. You cant even label them to a set style. I mean, compare lets say, Papercut to Breaking The Habit. They are two completely different songs, from two different albums, with two different styles. Even LP have said they dont know what style they are, also stating that they are nu-metal.

They're both Nu Metal and Rapcore. They're almost interchangably be used. You could call them Nu Metal or Rapcore or Rap Rock and still be quiet accurate. Also when I was saying they were Nu Metal I was referring to their old material not the new material.

Errr..Where did I say this?

Sigh...Whatever I give up.

lol those are all the same buddy :D
Umm...I know they're the same "buddy" in some aspects but in Rap Metal the hip hop influences are emphasized more. Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit come to mind in this.
