Palin to resign as Alaska governor

You will probably be sober in the morning and realize how ridiculosly stupid your argUMENT IS.

Not drunk, not been drinking. Haven't touched a drop for over a week.

Just been seeing you claim over and over for months on months, and post upon post how others are socialists for doing the exact same thing you and your state are are benefiting from.

Decided it was time to call a spade a spade and a hypocritical socialist, a hypocritical socialist.

The only Texan I support for President is Ron Paul.; not Mr. Perry or any other Texan. Now, show me Mr. Paul's socialist agenda.

At least I do not live in a state where the governor supports killing babies.

I don't care who you support. You've benefited for decades from the same socialist system you condemn in Alaska.

That makes you not only a socialist, but a hypocrite.

Justify it how you want. Whatever helps you sleep at night, but the facts are facts.

If Alaskans are socialists for taxing oil companies, so are you. If you continue, for decades, to benefit from a socialist program, it makes you a socialist.

If Alaskans are socialists for taxing the oil companies, then you're a hypocrite for denouncing these practices there that you benefit from in Texas.

Three basic problems with IWS's accusation:

1) I do not support every action the Texas legislature takes, anymore than he supports every action that the Kansas legislature takes, or the US congress.

2) The absurd statement that in order not to be a socialist I should send the state more money. Let me use an example of why you should accept whatever benefits government gives you providing you are a net payor to the government:

You live on an island nation with 10 other people. The ten people all make 10K a year. You make 100K a year. By a vote of 10 to 1 the government of that island decides to tax everyone 10% and redistribute the money equally. You must pay 10K in taxes. Everyone else 1k. This leaves 20k to be split up evenly, 2K each. Should you accept the 2K? Yes, you should. it reduces the level of socialism on that island by 2k. The fact is I pay more than I receive in government benefits, as do most people with a steady work history.

3) The assumtion that I benefit from taxes on oil production. One of my companies largest customer bases consist of oil companies. Taxes on oil companies depress economic activity (the taxes in Texas are, thankfully, quite small compared to Alaska's). These taxes may well reduce my economic well=being. I thought it was just a liberal mantra that individuals always benefit from taxes on others. That is far from the truth. When money is taken from the private sector and sucked up by government it tends to harm the working citizenry.

Does that mean we both think there should be a flat tax? :)

<p.s. I live in Nebraska. Kansas is full of lefties and progressives. :p >

I think the flat tax is politically impossible. I believe the sales tax, with exemptions on certain basic items, is the most politically possible. Somehow we must start shrinking the size of government and not just trade one form of tax revenue for another.

Apologize for the mistake. I get Texas's northern territories confused sometimes.

The best source of government revenues is user fees. For roads this is best done with gasoline taxes.

I think the sales tax with exemptions, or fair tax, idea will just turn into the same jumbled tax code mess that we have now.

It will turn into, refunds/welfare for poor at the end of the year or some kind of swipe card that adjusts your amount based on income or whatever.

I agree, we have to start shrinking government somewhere. The IRS and Department of Education would be a couple of good places to start, in my opinion.

Yep, it probably would. In this political climate any tax reform resulting in decreasing spreading the wealth is impossible.

People need to believe they do not need the Government to take care of them, until that happens we will never reduce Government.

We see a small spark of this with the current Obamacare debate but it takes way too much to get the average person to stand up against their Government. If Obama had done this in tiny steps, gradual power grabbing, the people would have let it happen but we can than our luck that Obama and company got too greedy, too fast and took a big enough bite to "wake the sleeping Giant" as one American said last week.

The FairTax as written does not allow loopholes or refund checks, it is the complete removal of the IRS, how much would that save America in Taxes?

Everyone pays taxes, period. Right now most Americans pay no taxes. Right now trillions of dollars are exchanged under the table in illegal drugs, illegal workers, shade tree mechanics, weekend painters, the list goes on and on and "all" of that money suddenly enters the tax playing field.

Most people have no understanding how much tax money the FairTax would generate and the few who do know the truth are mostly politicians who have something to loose if they support this movement.

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Palin and her bid.

The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Palin is a 'Post Turtle'."

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'Post Turtle' was.

The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'Post Turtle'."

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. "You know she didn't get up there by herself, she don't belong up there, and she don't know what to do while she's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dummy put her up there to begin with."

That joke is just as funny now as when I first heard it told about Jimmy Carter.

If you look up Post Turtle in the dictionary there is a photo of Jimmy Carter besides the definition.
