Liked them for a bit, but that's it. I'm done with them lol. They suck live basically except for a few songs, and I don't think they're really that great.

Panic! isn't emo.
Their lead singer has a great voice.
Their music is different and enjoyable.
Emo music sucks. (hence the reason i threw away my fallout boy album)
Panic! is a good band.
MTV is having a negative effect on them
But their next album will tell just how bad.
OKay. In short, I love em. Their awesome.

Adhering to what is perceived as the emo style doesn't mean them emo musicially.

They're EMO. Just because classical instrumentation was produced and placed on the intro and outro of a whole bunch of songs and that their song titles run for miles and miles doesn't make them any less emo. It's just a superficial cheap way of trying to trick people into thinking they are different. People try to defend them against the emo tag by calling them just dance rock. When in reality a group's sound is sometimes a mixture of alot of things. EMO just happens to be a huge part of their sound like it or not. Even before MTV, the crowd that largely happen to be at PATD's shows were obviously teenie boppers and EMO kids. Go watch an old youtube video and see for yourself.

I think the end of their review hits my point on the head:
On Fever they fill the gaps between their formulaic guitars and warbling urgency (interchangeable groups include the Academy Is... and Fall out Boy) with painstakingly layered vocals, trumpet, vocoder, and weird breakdowns of rickety piano or synths. This is a band in love with making a record -- making a statement -- but there's nothing unique inside, neither in their formula nor the vaunted and sticky production.

Obviously when Panic tries to invade a festival whose crowd isnt' filled with teenie bopper emos, their theatrics aren't appreciated as much:

They only reason people think they're emo is because they're marketed as emo. Same goes for Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday and the like. They're marketed as emo and the "scene emo kids" who know nothing about "real emo" mind you, eat it up. I wish people would do their homework and realize that true emo has to a large extent dyed off. I doubt any of them know "real emo" came from came from the Washington DC punk scene. They're just another Pop-Punk/Alternative Rock band with a little a little dance thrown in. All they had to do was probably add something slightly emotional to their lyrics, have black hair, and have MTV market them as the newest emo sensation. They're just another mallpunk band. It's almost like a Calculus equation. But yeah I'm so bored of arguing this on this forum that you know what I don't even care anymore. You want to think there emo go right a head.

music is meant for anyone who is willing to listen to it. Who cares what they sound like, what genre they are, how they look or whatever. You should like what you want to like and thats it. There also shouldn't be people making fun of others just because of their musical preferences. yup yup. hehehe

lol usually when i listen to a song, i listen to the lyrics and see if they mean anything to me. the sound is a plus but the lyrics have to be awesome.
of course there are these other times when the sound is like totally awesome and the lyrics are ****...thats where you get instrumentals
as for your reply, if you kept reading and put everything together (i.e music is meant for anyone who is willing to listen to it. Who cares what they sound like, what genre they are, how they look or whatever. You should like what you want to like...) it might've meant more just a thought.

I'd say that just because rhe fans of a band are emo that doesn't make them emo either. About Fallout Boy, if they aren't emo then their music just sucks naturally, same as MCR. few nice songs and the rest are noisy and unbalanced XD. gave me a ******* headache.

P!aTD are not emo, emo for want of a better word, literally means a weak man whining about stuff like break ups,life sucks and cutting urself. patd songs are about adultery,***,lap dances and such. nothing emo. patd is another example of a band being black labelled as something theyre not by mtv and sterotype simply over what they look.
