OK, everyone. I've written up a document containing what me, Hybrid Soldier, Jordan, and Hahninator agreed on during our MSN discussion. It's in the following thread:

RARE COMMONS OFFICIAL OPERATIONS DOCUMENTATION

This is NOT a final draft. The reason for that is simple; not everyone has had a say yet as to how Rare Commons will be run. Therefore, any questions, concerns, complaints, etc. should be posted here so we can work out the details of the document.

Vash will keep the document thread closed until we all agree to the terms. Then, we will all sign it, and Rare Commons will begin.

wow, you guys actually got your **** together, that document is not half bad... i disagree w/ the P2P/BT part, but otherwise it's tolerable

EDIT: who's the "head" of rare commons?

i was talking to nkramar on AIM a little while ago and he said the same thing. i presented the idea of web downloads + torrents to Jordan, and he said no (for logical reasons), so we just excluded torrents altogether. if we really want to use torrents, we'll have to abandon direct downloads altogether

What are you talking about? I hate BitTorrent.

I prefer B&P, Vines and Loops... ($10 says you MIGHT be the only one familiar with any of those forms of trading/sharing :p )

as much as we could like it used' date=' we we need to do what we can not to **** off the traders[/quote']

When it comes down to it, Torrents are actually to THEIR advantage, not ours. Having shows on a server is easy enough and is the simplest and most expensive way to share (bandwidth-wise).

Torrents rely on those sharing to stay online to share. If I seed a torrent, I have to stay connected until AT LEAST one person finishes the dowload and can become a seeder as well. If I go offline before that, there's no seed=nothing to download.
