Chapter 35

Thanks geeko, xeviane, and Sebby!

******

A couple hours after Talinda had talked to Chester, she shut down her computer for the weekend and picked up her briefcase, walking over to the door. Opening her door, she walked out, closing the door behind her locking it. After doing so, she walked to the front where Jennifer was at saying goodbye to her. She walked out of the building and walked over to her car. Getting in, she drove off to Rose Lawn. When she got there she buzzed into the place so she could park in the parking lot. Once Talinda parked her car she walked up to the house and opened the door, closing it behind her. When she did that, Dr. Kim walked over to her.

“Ms. Bentley” she said holding her hand out. He shook it.

“How can I help you Ms. Bentley?” he asked letting go of her hand.

“I’m here on Chester Bennington's behalf to see Samantha. Since he can’t see her he wanted me to check and see how she was doing.”

“Are you related to her?” he asked.

“No. I’m a friend of the family.”

“You can see her then. Let me show you her room” he said. They both turned around and walked down the hall going towards Sam’s room.

“How is Samantha doing anyways? Is there any improvement in her conditions?” Talinda asked as they walked down the hall.

“There’s been little improvement in her condition. She has been lucid for a couple days” he said as they reached her room, “I have to warn you though, try not to get her upset. And don’t stay in there to long” he said before he walked away. Talinda walked up closer to Sam's door and opened it softly looking into the room not seeing her in there. She turned her head to the left and saw that she was near the window, looking out of it. Not wanting to disturb her, Talinda closed the door and turned around starting to walk down the hall. She stopped walking when she heard her name being called and turned around seeing Teresa walking towards her.

“Talinda, your here to see Sam?” she asked when she reached her.

“Yeah. I hear from Dr. Kim that she’s been lucid for a couple days now” Talinda said.

“Yeah, there’s little progress in Sam. She’s really affected by what happen to her” she replied, “The good thing about her is that she’s still talking and that’s a really good sign that not all hope is lost” she looked at Sam's door and back at Talinda, “So I see a lot of things have changed for you. How for along are you?”

“Five months.”

“That’s good. Do you know if your having a boy or a girl?”

“No. I decided to wait to find out” she said.

“So are you married yet?” Teresa asked her.

“No, but I’m dating someone.”

“That’s good. Actually I have to go and meet with a patient of mine. I’ll see you around?”

“Yeah. It was good seeing you again, Teresa” Talinda said to her. When Teresa walked down the hall Talinda looked back at Sam's door again. She walked up to the door again, opening it. This time Sam was sitting in her chair, since Talinda could see her arm on the arm rest as she tapped her fingers. Talinda slowly made her way further into the room; slowly walking up to Sam, “Sam?” she called out to her. She didn’t respond back. Talinda knelt down next to her chair, “Sam, do you remember who I am?” Again Sam didn’t say anything. “Okay. I’ll leave before I upset you” she said. She stood up and walked over to the door.

“I know who you are, Sandra” Sam said. Talinda stopped at the doorway with her hand on the door handle. She slowly turned around looking back at Sam, who was still sitting in the chair, “You know what? You’re the reason I’m here. This is your entire fault, Sandra” Sam continued not even moving out of the chair. The only thing she did was move her hands down onto her lap.

“You mean my father?” Talinda asked walking up closer to her.

“No, not him, you” Sam started to laugh, “If you hadn’t gotten into your car and crashed it, none of this would be happening. I wouldn’t have been raped by your sick ******* of a father and you wouldn’t have left me alone. I probably would still have my best friend.” Talinda looked down at Sam and saw something in her hand. “But you know what? No one can change what happen in the past, but I sure as **** can change what happens in the future” Sam said standing up. She took a couple steps toward Talinda. Talinda then noticed the syringe that she was holding. She wasn’t sure what was in it.

“Sam, come on. Please you don’t want to do this” Talinda said taking a couple steps back. Her legs hit against the end of the bed.

“Oh. I’ve been waiting to do this for a while now, Talinda. You can't stop me now” Sam said. Suddenly after saying that, she went straight for Talinda. Defending herself, Talinda grabbed Sam’s free arm and pushed her to the bed. She grabbed the arm Sam was holding with the syringe, stopping Sam before she had a chance to sticking her with it. Talinda tried pushing Sam’s arm down on her, trying to push the syringe into Sam. As Talinda did that she could see that it was filled with something as Sam fought her back. Talinda kept pushing down harder on her hand. When Sam suddenly got her free arm away from Talinda’s hold, Talinda didn’t hesitate to put her other hand on top of the hand that was trying to push the syringe Sam was holding. When she did that she pushed even harder when she felt Sam grab her hair just as she stuck the syringe in, just before her shoulder and pushed everything that was in the syringe into her. Talinda felt Sam slowly letting go of her hair. After Sam let go of Talinda’s hair, Talinda let go of Sam and she slowly slid off the bed and onto the floor, out cold.

“Sam?” Talinda called out kneeling down not knowing what was in the syringe. She checked Sam’s pulse and felt that she had one.

“What’s going on here, Talinda?” Talinda looked up and saw that Teresa was standing in the doorway. Teresa walked further into the room and knelt down next to Sam.

“Sam -- s-she tried to a-attacking me with a s-syringe. I -- I h-had to stop her, so I f-fought her back. I stuck -- stuck her with t-the s-syringe” Talinda responded a little shaken up as she spoke.

“Okay Talinda. You did what you had to do” Teresa replied to her. Teresa then carefully pulled the syringe out of Sam shoulder. After doing that, she checked Sam’s pulse and then took out a small flash light, shining it into her eyes to see if she would respond to the light.

“I d-don’t know what’s in t-the syringe” Talinda told her trying to calm herself down.

“It's probably just a mild sedative, but I'll have the syringe check out to see what was in it. You just stay here” Teresa said and got up. She walked out of the room, leaving the door open and pulled out her cell phone. As she did that she dialed a number and Talinda heard what she said to the person.

“Dr. Kim, can you come to Samantha Cardossa's room? There’s been an incident that just happen” Teresa said. Then after a couple seconds she hung up, “Dr. Kim is going to be coming here with some orderlies to help Sam on her bed. He’ll go and have the syringe checked out to see what was in it, but since she's responsive and she has a pulse there’s no need to call the paramedics.”

“I just want to go home. I’m through with trying to help Sam out” Talinda said trying to get up off the floor.

“Okay. Would you like me to get you help so you can go to your car?” Teresa asked.

“No. I’m fine. Thanks for asking anyways” Talinda said walking out of Sam’s room walking by Dr. Kim and a couple orderlies. She made her way out of Rose Lawn and walked over to her car and got in. From there she drove off. When she got back home her stomach started hurting. She parked her car and got out walking up to her door walking inside the house since Rob was to be there, “Rob?” she called out closing the door behind her.

“In here!” she heard him call out from where he was.

“Oh ***” she softly said to herself when she felt a sharp pain in her stomach. She grabbed it.

“Talinda where are you?”

“Near the door” she called out. Soon after saying that she heard his footsteps come closer to where she was at. When they stopped, she saw Rob standing in front of her.

“Talinda, are you okay?” he asked in concerned.

“Oh ***. Rob, I‘m not feeling so good…” was all she could let out before she fell right into Rob’s arms blacking out.

Chapter 36

As Chester walked up to the front door he heard some laughing behind him. He stopped walking and turned around to face Draven and Lily who was trying hard not to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha. Go ahead, keep laughing” he said. Turning back towards the door, he unlocked it and walked in. Going over to the couch, he sat down as Draven sat next to him.

“Oh come on, Chester. You have to admit that it was pretty funny” Lily stated as she started laughing again.

“Dad, I didn’t know that you could be such a girl!” Draven managed to let out in between laughs.

“Hey! I resent that!” he replied. Soon he found himself laughing along with his son.

“You should have seen yourself. You were screaming at the top of your lungs waving your arms around like --” Lily waved her arms, showing Draven how Chester acted at his school.

“All because of a little teeny, tiny moth.” Draven showed with his finger how small it was.

“Hey, did you see the size of that thing? I thought it was a bat!” he defensively said.

“A bat? In the middle of a private school?” Lily asked.

“Where do you think I go, dad? Hogwarts?” Draven asked laughing so hard he was rolling around on the couch.

“Hogwarts? That’s good” he said laughing at his own stupidity. Before he could say anything else the phone started to ring. Chester got up off the couch and walked into the kitchen picking up the phone.

“Hello” he answered.

“Mr. Bennington this is Teresa Winters.”

“How is Sam?” he asked thinking that this was just a call on a update.

“I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but there was an incident here at Rose Lawn between your fiancée and Talinda Bentley. Somehow Samantha had gotten a hold of a syringe and tried attacking Talinda with it. Talinda fought her off and stuck Sam with the needle” she explained.

“Are they both okay?” he asked in shocked. He couldn’t believe that Sam actually wanted to hurt Talinda. The last time she tried she couldn’t bring herself to do it.

“The syringe was full with a mild sedative. Sam’s sleeping the medication off right now as we speak. She’s going to be closely monitored after she does wake up. Chester I’m sorry to do this to you’re right now, but I’m not seeing any progress in her metal state, but we’ve have only done one session. Since Sam has attacked someone in this facility I fill that it would be safer for her to go to a higher facility where she could be closely monitor in her own padded room with a straightjacket so she wouldn’t be in danger to her --” Teresa explained but Chester cut her off.

“ -- No. Absolutely not. I’m not going to do that to Sam. I could never put her in a straightjacket; she's just getting enough help there at Rose Lawn.”

“If that’s what you want will keep Sam here at Rose Lawn. I was going to make it your chose anyways, but she won’t be able to see anyone that's outside the family until I see a lot more improvement from her. We will still give you weekly updates on how she’s doing.”

“Um, Teresa can I ask you a question on Sam?” he asked her.

“Sure. What is it that you want to know?”

“How could have Sam blocked out her rape for twelve years and suddenly remember it all over again?”

“Well she probably blocked it out by having another tragedy happen to her that affected her even more than her rape…” ‘Talinda’s fake death and her parents divorce’ he thought to himself. “…And what probably trigger her to remembering it all over again was probably going to the place it happen at” she explained the best she could. ‘That’s probably why she was in Phoenix when her breakdown started.

“Thanks for explaining that to me. I’m sorry for anything that Sam had done” he responded.

“It’s not your fault that she attacked Talinda.” Teresa paused a little, “Could you answer a question for me?”

“Sure.”

“Does Talinda have anything to be with Sam’s breakdown?”

Chester froze, cursing at himself for using Sandra’s name instead of Talinda’s during the meeting with Dr. Kim, “Yes. She does. She's really Sandra Grace”

“Okay. That explains everything about the attack. You know now that Talinda isn’t allowed in the facility.”

“Okay. I’m sorry again. I should have said something about this Sandra/Talinda thing.”

“Don’t worry. If Talinda stays away, than Sam has a better chance of fully recovering, than we can slowly reintroduce her back into Sam's life.”

Chester was silent.

“Chester, Sam will get better.”

“I hope so” he said. When they hung up, Chester walked back into the living room, seeing that Lily and Draven were still there.

******

Talinda slowly woke up and looked around the room seeing the white walls of the hospital. Panic raised in her as she thought about her baby. ‘Oh, ***, please tell me that nothings wrong with the baby. It’s the only thing I have left of Matthew’ she thought to herself.

“Talinda?” someone called out breaking her thoughts. She felt someone hold her hand and she turned her head to her right seeing Rob sitting in one of the hospital chairs.

“Rob? Is everything okay with the baby?” she let out groggily, slightly praying to herself that the baby was.

“I don’t know anything yet. The doctor did some test while you were out, but the results haven’t come back yet” he explained moving his hand from her’s and moved some of her hair back. The room went silent for a few seconds and a knock on the door made them both look at the door seeing that it was Talinda’s gynecologist. In her hands, she was holding a folder.

She walked further into the room going over to the other side of the bed, “It’s good to see that you’re a wake Talinda. I have the test results with me. There is some good and a little disappointing news” she stated, opening the folder up.

“Is my baby okay?” she asked with concern.

“Yes. You’re very lucky that you didn’t lose that baby. Although I did a blood pressure test and it came back pretty high, so I’m going to order you on bed rest for the remaining of your pregnancy or at lest until your blood pressure is at a reasonably level. Try to stay away from as much stress as you can Talinda. I know you like to work at your firm, but it is best if you start your maternity leave now. If you don't your at a very high risk of developing preeclampsia, which is life threatening to you and your baby.”

“Okay. Thank you Dr. Bergstrom” she responded. Her doctor turned around and walked out of the room. Talinda immediately put her right hand on her still producing stomach. Feeling tears run down her face, she quickly wiped them away with her left hand. Rob grabbed her hand that was resting on her stomach.

“Hey. It’s okay Talinda. The baby still here” he softly said.

“I know. I’m just crying because I could have lost the baby” she explained looking at him.

“But you didn’t, okay?” Talinda shook her head in agreement. There was silence between them until Rob spoke up, “Have you really said goodbye to him?” he asked. Talinda knew he was talking about Matthew.

“Yes I did. I don’t know what I would have done if I lost this baby. This baby is all I have left of him” she let out as a couple more tears spilled from her eyes.

Rob wiped them away, “How come you didn’t do the procedure after he passed away?”

“I couldn’t bring myself to do it right away. I was getting over Matthew’s death so I buried myself in our law firm” Talinda sighed softly, “It was always a plan of ours to have a family, move out here to California and open a second law firm, but we didn’t get to do that because Matthew got to sick. Before he started his chemotherapy, he had his sperm frozen so that when he did get better we could still have the possibilities of having a family” she paused because she felt like she was going to cry but continued anyways, “The cancer went away and we thought it was gone and that it wasn’t going to come back. We even started thinking about starting a family, but when Matthew went in for his check up the hospital found out that the cancer was back.” Tears spilled from her eyes and she closed her them.

Continuing Chapter 36

Opening them back up she continued on, “He went back on chemotherapy. I thought that it was all gone when the doctors couldn’t find anymore of the cancer after the chemotherapy had ended but Matthew thought it was going to come back so he redid his will, putting on there that if he died I could still go and have the family we always wanted. I kept telling him that it wasn’t and it did, spreading to his brain. The chemotherapy failed and the hospital put him on radiation. It got so bad that he had to be hospitalized, he --” she stopped again because tears were running down her face. She wiped them away and took a deep breath so she could continue.

“-- He…he knew that he was going to die, so he told me that he wanted to die at home. I made the arrangements so that he could and he was moved to our place. He was probably only home for a couple weeks. Before his last day I stayed home to be with him and when I went to sleep that night he told me he’d loved me and if I ever found anyone he would be okay with it. The next morning when I woke up he wasn’t with me. He had passed away in his sleep.” More tears ran down her face.

“After the funeral I stayed in New York until Matthew’s will was read. His parents were okay with the part about me being able to still have the family that we always wanted. They weren’t upset with me leaving to California and you know when I opened the second law firm, I met Chester, took on his custody case, realized Sam was my best friend in high school. After her fall and almost revealing my secret I knew I had to tell. Before I was going to, the hospital that had Matthew’s sperm frozen called and told me that I had to do the procedure before his sperm was no longer good” she stopped and took a deep breath since she was starting to feel a light headed.

“I made the chose to move back out to New York and I revealed my secret to Chester. Sam had already figured it out before hand. During our high school reunion, I told Sam I was moving back to New York and you know the rest…” Talinda paused, “I just wish that Sam didn’t think that my baby was Chester’s. She wouldn’t have had her breakdown. I feel like this is all my fault.”

“Talinda, it’s not. You didn’t know Sam would think that. Her whole breakdown isn’t just about you being pregnant. It’s also about her being rape as a teenager and remembering it all over again was --”

She cut him off, “Yeah, but it still is because it was my father who raped her. Like she said when she attacked me again --”

“-- What? Sam attacked you again?” he asked letting go of her hand he was holding.

“Yeah. I went to Rose Lawn for Chester since he can’t see her. She somehow got a hold of a syringe and tried to attack me with it. I fought her back and sticked her with the syringe.”

“That's why you’re here Talinda! You need to stay away from Sam until she's better. With her state of mind she’ll just want to attack you all the time. You can lose the baby by being around her for crying out loud! I thought this baby was everything to you? It’s all you have left of Matthew. Chester should have known better than to have you go there. He should have called one of the guys instead he put you in danger by going to see his psychotic fiancée.”

“Hey leave Chester out of this! This isn’t his fault. If you want to blame someone, blame me! I started this whole **** thing!” she stated starting to get mad.

“Leave Chester out of this? What, do you still have fillings for him, Talinda?” he asked angrily.

“That’s just ****** up Rob! You know that I don’t. I’m with you **** it!”

“No, you’re just with me because you can’t have Chester” he spite out.

“That’s bullshit! I was the one who ended that so called ‘relationship’. You know what? I was just with Chester because I needed someone to love me since I was a ******* grieving widow! I know for one thing that I did not love him like I do you!” she took a deep breath trying to calm herself down since she could fill her cheeks getting warm.

Rob must have realized that he was causing her already high blood pressure to go even higher because he took a hold of her hand into his, “I’m sorry Talinda. I shouldn’t have gotten mad at you like that.”

“No. Maybe you’re right. Chester should have known better than to ask me to go there, but this whole thing isn’t his fault. I should have said no to him and had him call you or the guys but I put myself first instead of thinking about my baby” she replied.

“I know you want to help out, but maybe its best if you just stay away for awhile or until the baby comes. I don’t want anything bad happening to the both of you” he told her. He brought her hand up closer to his lips kissing the back of her hand. After that they didn’t say anything else to each other and remained in silent.

A couple hours later, Talinda was released from the hospital and her and Rob went home forgetting the argument.

Four Weeks Later

It’s been four weeks since the incident at Rose Lawn between Sam and Talinda. Chester had later learned from Rob, who he thinks is a little ****** at him right now, that Talinda was in the hospital. He also found out that she is now on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy, due to her high blood pressure. After hearing that, Chester started to feel bad for having Talinda go and see Sam. He knew that he should have called one of the guys instead. Speaking of the guys, they were slowly starting to go into the studio to start the writing process for the fifth album.

As for Sam, there hasn’t been that much progress in her. From the last four calls Chester’s been getting it sounds like she’s slipping deeper in to her breakdown. He hasn’t been able to go and see Sam yet since he first took her to Rose Lawn. He was starting to get a little upset about it. So upset that after he was finished at the studio today he was going to head over to Rose Lawn and see Sam. He doesn't really care what her therapist or the doctor say, he is going to see her.

Thanksgiving is coming up and it's getting hard with Sam being gone especially even more for Draven who misses his mother a lot. Even on a little holiday like Halloween, Chester could tell how much Draven missed her since he wanted him to take him to Rose Lawn so he could show her his costume. Unfortunately, Chester had to break his heart by telling him that mommy couldn’t see anyone right now but promised that once she could he would take him down there. Instead Chester and Lily took him trick-or-treating this year since Sam wasn’t there to do it with Chester like they did last year. It was the second time in five years that he celebrated Halloween since Sam and him used to be married on that day.

Chester snapped back into reality when he felt someone tap his shoulder. He turned his head to the right and saw that it was Mike. “Yes?” he asked him.

“Are you okay? You seemed out of it there for a while” he asked concerned.

“I was just thinking about Sam” he told him.

“I’m sure you’ll get in to see her” Mike tried reassuring him.

“Yeah. I hope so too.”

“Hey, why don’t you go now? I’ll take those lyrics that we were working on, home” he explained.

“You sure Anna won't be mad with you now? Now that she's pregnant?” he smirked a little wanting to change the subject and not talk about Sam.

“Nope. Her being pregnant doesn‘t change me being a workaholic” Mike responded.

“****” he snapped his fingers, “Thought it would” he said slightly laughing.

“It probably will when she's further along but that’s why were starting to work more on the album now.”

Chester nodded his head, “I’ll probably see you tomorrow?” he asked.

“Yeah” he replied. Chester got up off the couch and walked out of the studio, going over to his car. Once he got in, he drove off to Rose Lawn. Getting there, he buzzed himself into the parking lot. After he parked his car, he walked up to the place and went inside, closing the door behind him. Walking further into the living room he saw Teresa coming into the room. She saw that Chester was there and walked over to him.

“Chester, what are you doing here?” she asked when she came up to him.

“I want to see Sam.”

“You know you can’t, right?” she responded.

“I know that, but I have to see how bad she is for myself.”

“Alright, but only for a couple minutes. Follow me, she's outside in the garden” she told him turning around and walked out of the room. He followed her down another hall and over to another set of French doors. Teresa opened one of the doors, “She’s sitting on one of the benches near the rose bushes.” Chester only nodded. He walked outside and heard some talking. He followed the sound and saw Sam sitting on a bench holding a doll.

“Sam?” he called out to her, but she didn’t turn her head. He just thought she didn’t hear him.

“It’s okay Draven, mommy loves you. I won’t let anything happen to you” he heard her say.

“Sam?” he tried again walking closer to her. Still there was no movement for her.

“Don’t cry buddy, mommy’s here” she said. He realized that she was talking to the doll as he saw her hug it closer to her, ‘No I’m losing her for good. She’s thinking that Draven is the doll’ he thought to himself. He walked closer to the bench and sat down next to her.

“Can you hear me Sam?” he asked softly touching her shoulder.

“Come on buddy, let’s go inside. It’s getting cold” she said to the doll, not flinching at Chester’s touch. She got up and walked away from him holding the doll closer to her, going back inside the place. Chester just watched her walk away feeling like he was going to cry. Calming himself down, he got up and walked back inside seeing Teresa near the door.

“I didn’t realize it was this bad” he said to her.

“She has good and bad days. I’m afraid that this is what her good days are like” she explained softly.

“Do you know when she started talking to that doll?” he asked her as they walked down the hall.

“After she attacked Talinda” she responded.

He couldn’t say anything else to Teresa and they walked back to the living room. He left and went back home to Draven letting Leticia go home.

A Couple Days before Thanksgiving

Since seeing Sam, Chester had forgotten all about it. There was still no improvement in Sam’s condition. To occupy himself he was going to have Leticia take Draven to the park while he went to the studio.

“So you’re going to have fun today at the park?” Chester asked Draven as he came down the stairs.

“Yep,” Draven said walking into the living room to where Chester was sitting at.

“Your going to listen to Leticia, right, Draven?” he said looking at him.

“Yes.”

“All right, so your going to go to the carousel, and then your going to go to the zoo --,” he said as the phone started ringing.

“Mm-hmm,”

“Then I’m going to come by as soon as I can and --,” he stopped as the phone kept ringing.

“Mm-hmm,” Draven let out and since he was the closes to the portable phone that was on the coffee table he picked it up, “Hello, may I ask who's calling please?” he asked and Chester shook his head on how nicely his son answered the phone and went to put his shoes on.

“Hello, this is Dr. Brad Kim from Rose Lawn. May I speak with Mr. Bennington please?”

“You’re my mom’s doctor aren’t you?” Chester heard Draven say to whoever was on the other end of the line. He looked up at him when he said that to Sam’s doctor, “Is she better? Can I talk to her?”

“Draven can I talk to him please?” he asked him.

“Here’s my dad, hold on,” Draven said handing the phone to him. Chester covered the speaker part, “Why don’t you go upstairs and finished getting ready,” he told him.

“Okay.” Draven walked out of the room.

“Dr. Kim, is Sam alright?” Chester asked once Draven was out of the room.

“Unfortunately she’s taken a turn for the worst. She’s very agitated and fearful.”

“Uh why, why did this happen?” he asked confused.

“It could be anything -- another paranoid hallucination. Sam has stopped speaking, she doesn‘t even want to leave her room.”

“You were supposed to help her,” he stated.

“We need to calm Sam down. I’d like to administer an anti-psychotic medication which would help her,” the doctor explained.

“Absolutely not,” he spite.

“I realized that both you and Sam were against any kind of drug therapy, but her condition has deteriorated since then.”

“You’re not drugging her. If you give her anything stronger than aspirin I’m taking her out of there are we clear?” he asked.

“Mr. Bennington I know that this is upsetting --”

Chester cut him off, “Are we clear?”

“We’re clear,” he responded softly. Chester hung up the phone, throwing it on the other couch as Draven came back into the room.

“Did something bad happen to mom?” he asked.

“No, buddy, your mom’s fine. It’s just that it’s taking a lot longer for her to get better than I thought,” Chester told his son.

“Why did the doctor call?” he asked.

“Because we talk every week and he tells me how mom’s doing.”

“Okay.”

“But I don’t want you to worry about this, because your mother’s the strongest person I know and she’s going to beat this. Are you and Leticia ready to go to the park?”

“Yep.”

“Then you have fun and you know to stay close to Leticia right and not to run away from her?” he more like told him.

“I know.”

“Okay, then go have fun” he replied as Leticia came out of the kitchen since she was making some snacks for her to take to the park. Soon they all left the house.

Wow, ashamedly havent been in here a while, but you rival me for the longest updates to any story I think so it took a while to get through! Haha. I didn't mind. Have been checking back every now and then, remembering back to the TLATC days, that was sweet. Ah memories. And I have to say your writing style is just incredible. You have real literary talent as far as my humble opinion goes. Every scene you pen I can see in my head like a movie scene, it's just awesome. Nice balance of tension and sweetness there too. It's funny to know just who to feel sorry for the most sometimes, I just want to grab Sam and Talinda and Chester and so on sometimes and shake some sense into them! haha Just great. And poor Draven. That kid has had a lot (as has everyone in their own way) to have to come to terms with in such a young life. Halloween must be a hard time of year for the lil tyke. Aww. If this was to make it to screenplay stage I'd be stoked to see it visually. See if it matched the integrity of the writing. Impressive as always. New plot sounds interesting.

The Next Day

When the guys were in the studio the day before, Chester told Mike that he had gotten a call from Sam’s doctor only to find out that Sam is very agitated. He went on telling him that her doctor wanted to give her an anti-psychotic medication to help calm her down. Mike could tell that Chester was upset about Sam’s doctor wanting to give her the drug since he didn’t want her to be drugged up to a point that she was incoherent. He could also tell that he was scared that if he said yes to the drug that the doctor would abused it on her. Wanting to check on Sam, Chester asked Mike if he could go down to Rose Lawn. At first, Mike thought Chester didn’t go and see her like he wanted to last week, but Chester told him that he did. He told him what happen in the garden. He just wanted Mike to see if she was on medication. Mike told him he would visit her since he knew Chester couldn’t ask Talinda after what happen there.

Since the guys weren’t going to be at the studio today, Mike had got the directions to Rose Lawn from Chester the day before. After Mike finished getting ready he and Anna went down to Inglewood together since this was the only time that he was not working and he wanted to spend his free time with her.

Once they reached the place, Mike got into the parking lot and they walked up to the door. As they got inside Mike closed the door behind him. Looking in front of him, Mike saw a doctor talking to another one, so he walked up to him.

“Excuse me, we would like to talk to a doctor about Samantha Bennington” he stated to the doctors.

The doctors looked at each other and one of the doctors stepped a side, “I’m Dr. Kim. I’m her doctor” he said holding his hand out for Mike. Mike shook it.

“Okay, good. We’re here on behalf of Chester Bennington. We would like to see her.”

“We only allow schedule visits with family, but unfortunately with Sam, she's not aloud to have any visits from the family.”

“We can assure you that were not related to her by family. Were friends of the family and I’m sure Sam would be happy to see Mike” Anna replied to the doctor.

Dr. Kim thought and against better judgment he knew Sam couldn’t do anything he spoke out, “Alright, but don’t except to much, Sam’s still extremely fragile” he stated as he walked off. Mike and Anna started to follow him. When they reached her door, they stopped outside of it, “Sam’s been agitated all day, but she hasn’t been able to say why” Dr. Kim explained to them.

“Okay. I’ll try to see if she’ll want to talk to me” Mike told the doctor. He just shook his head and walked away.

“Um, Mike, I’ll just sit out in the hall while you go and see her” Anna explained pointing to a couple of the chairs just before Sam’s door. She didn't want to go in, afraid that something would happen because after all she is pregnant.

“Sure” he nodded his head. Turning to face the door, Mike opened it only to see that her room was dark, “Why is it so dark in here?” he asked himself looking for the light switch on the wall. When he did, he flipped the switch on and the lights came on. Walking further into the room, he closed the door behind him and looked straight ahead at the back of a chair. He walked around the chair to the side and saw Sam sitting in the chair. She was just looking toward the closet door. He looked down at Sam’s arm that was resting cross the arm rest and saw her clutching her hand tightly, opening it back up and tapping her whole hand on the arm rest. She then stopped. “Did someone scare you?” he asked her hoping that she would talk to him. When she didn’t, he kneeled down next to the chair, “Sam, its okay. No one’s going to hurt you. Look if you could…if you could just tell me --” he started saying reaching his hand out to touch her left hand. She quickly moved her arm away, putting both her hands in between her legs. He paused from what he was going to say and looked down at the floor and looked back up at her, “I guess I’m scaring you too…Everything is going to be okay” he told her and got up, walking out of her room as he closed the door behind him.

When Mike was in the room, Sam really wanted to tell him that someone was scaring her but she couldn’t find the words to tell him. The reason why she pulled away when he went to touch her was because she wasn’t sure if she could trust him. As soon as he left her room she heard the closet door open slowly, ‘No. Please don’t have him come out!’ she thought to herself, ‘Come on, Sam don’t be scared of him. You’re letting him control you. He’s not real! He’s only in your memory! You have to fight him off! He’s the real reason why you’re here! You need to get better. You have a life to go back to. Remember Chester? You guys are going to be getting married again, look at how lucky you are getting the love of your life back. Remember your son too? Don’t think that he’s that stupid doll because he’s not! Your son Draven is okay. He’s with Chester, Chester’s taking care of him while your here. The only way your going to get better is if you fight him off and when you do he’ll leave you alone for good’ a voice inside her head shouted at her. Feeling him stroke her cheek roughly, she closed her eyes tightly moving her legs up into her chair. She turned her head away from him.

“Samantha, Samantha, Samantha, don’t be scared of me. I wont hurt you, much” he spite.

“Your not real…your not real -- your dead.” She opened her eyes back up and moved to sit on the armrest of her chair.

“Oh, I’m very much real. It’s all in your head princess. I didn’t know you loved me that much, only if Sandra was alive at that time and walked in on us. I bet you loved it so much that you want me to **** you again.”

“Oh yeah, I want to do it right now….” she smirked getting up off the chair. She slowly walked backwards to the bed. He followed her with a smile on his face. She stopped walking and he came closer to her. He brought her closer to him by him wrapping his arms around her waist. When he went to kiss her lips, she moved her hands to his chest, “**** you Robert!” she angrily let out, pushing him away causing him to fall backwards.

“You just made a mistake princess. Your going to pay” Robert let out getting up, but before he got up all the way she kicked him in the stomach sending him down again. He stayed down. She walked over to where his head was at, putting her foot on his throat pushing down lightly. He grabbed her shoe, “You don’t want to kill me princess, you’ll miss me if you do” he softly responded.

“Oh but I do…see if your gone from in my head I can get out of this place and go back to my family. I’m not going to let you control me Robert. I’m my own person. I don’t need anyone to control me like you” she let out as she pushed down a little harder. She saw him disappearing beneath her. When he was completely gone, she looked around the room, “Robert, are you still here?” she called out. When she didn’t hear anything she smiled to herself, “He’s gone…he’s gone” she whispered to herself. She quickly walked over to a small intercom that was on the wall near the door and pushed a button on it.

“Yes, Ms. Cardossa, how can I help you?” a voice ask through the intercom.

Pushing the button on the intercom back, she spoke to the person, “Can I talk to…to Teresa?” she asked

“Sure. One moment Ms. Cardossa, I’ll send her to your room” the voice replied. She took a step to the desk that was right near the wall and moved the chair out and sat down. She moved her hands up to her face and rested her head in her hands, closing her eyes. After a couple minutes, she heard a knock on the door. The door open and she turned her head seeing that it was Teresa.

“You wanted to see me Sam?” Teresa asked walking into her room, closing the door behind her.

“Yeah. Do you think we could have a session now?” she asked her moving her hand away from her face.

“Yes. We could.” Teresa set down her notebook on Sam’s desk and walked over to the chair she sat in previously, moving it over to the desk. Sam turned her chair to the side, facing Teresa. Teresa picked up her notebook and opened it up, “So, what would you like to talk about Sam?” she asked looking at her.

“Why I have been so scared to talk these last couple of days” she explained to her.

“Okay and why were you so scared?” she responded asking.

“I was scared because of seeing Robert Grace in my room.”

“And would you like to tell me who he is?”

“He’s Talinda Bentley’s father. After her car accident back in 1993 he was the person that raped me” she told her emotionless. She saw Teresa write something down in her notebook.

“Didn’t her father died?” she questioned.

“Yes, he died seven years later after he raped me” Sam explained.

“If he’s dead than how did you see him?” she asked.

“He was all in my head. Everywhere I would turn I would see him and just recently he started talking to me. He was telling me that he was going to hurt the people that I loved, especially my son and Chester. That’s why I started talking to that doll. I thought that the doll was Draven and every time I was holding it I thought I was holding Draven. After Mike left today, Robert came into my room from the closet, since he was hiding in there. I told myself not to let him control me, that I had a life to get back to and I fought him off in my head. I’m pretty sure that he’s gone now and that he’s not going to come back.”

“That’s good that he's gone. You did the right thing by fighting him off. Now that we have you back, you need to focus on the other parts of your recovery. And while were having this session why don’t you tell me what you were like before Chester. What were your other dreams in life?” she asked explaining to her.

“Before Chester?” she asked pausing. Teresa shook her head “Well, I was fresh out of high school. I had no ideal what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I wanted to be a realtor but I never signed up for classes at Arizona State, because I wasn’t that sure if I really wanted to be a realtor. At that time my parents were going through a divorce because apparently my dad cheated on my mom and I had just lost my best friend in a car accident. While my parents were going through the divorce, my mom and I were living together while my dad lived with his girlfriend. Sometimes my mom made me helped down at her office” she responded.

“Did you ever become a realtor?”

“No, because I met Chester and helped him through his drug problem, so that’s were most of my attention went.”

“And were did most of your attention go after he was through his drug problem?” she asked. (continued on quizilla)

“It went to being a good wife to him. See after his drug problem we went and got married at an Arizona court house, justice of the peace, because we didn’t have enough money to have a big wedding. We barely had money to buy our wedding ring so we got them tattooed on our ring finger, by one of his friends. That’s why my finger is green, it’s not because of the engagement ring, that's because it’s the tattoo” she explained to Teresa, twisting the ring around on her finger, “After he moved to Los Angeles to join the band, I finally moved down here to be with him. Then are son came after three years of living down here. After Draven was born, and in between caring for a baby and him being in the band, our relationship started to go down hill.”

“You don’t blame your son for your guys divorce, do you?”

Sam laughed lightly to herself, “No. I would never hate my son for that.”

“I can see that you don’t and your not here because of what happen between you and Chester. You’re doing really well Sam, opening up about Robert. I think that we had a really great session just now” she replied laughing as Sam did to herself. Teresa took something out of her notebook, “This is a journal and what I want you to do is write down any thoughts that you are having and will discuss them on the next session” she explained handing Sam the journal. She took it.

“Okay, sounds good” she responded. Teresa got up and walked out of her room. Sam stayed sitting in her chair for awhile. She looked down at the journal she was holding when a thought came to her mind. Turning around to face the desk, she opened the book up and picked a pen up from the desk.

Chapter 39

Wow! Been months since the last update, huh? I do apologies for the long stretch and depriving you of an update. Anyways felt like posting. Schools ending real soon and updates should be coming more often (hopefully). I plan on posting another chapter real soon so be on the look out for that.

For the story I do want to stay that the ending is near, but it wont be hear soon. Talinda's got one more secret to reviled up her sleeve, haha.

Sorry of the song selected in this update. I was into it when I originally wrote this years ago.

******

Today, I fought off Robert in my head. After I did he left. As soon as it was over I asked if I could talk to Teresa Winter, my therapist. When Teresa came to my room, I wanted to do a session with her. I started to talk about why I've been so scared to speak these last couple of days. It was because I was seeing Robert Grace all over my room. Me being so scared and thinking that Robert was threatening my family, made me start talking to a doll, thinking that the doll was my son. I realized that I had a life to get back to and after Mike left from coming to see me, I confronted Robert wanting to end this shenanigan. During the session, Teresa had asked me about what I was like before Chester and as I was talking about it, it had me thinking about everything again…’ Sam started writing down in her journal. She stopped writing and put the pen down, thinking…

‘There's no me without you

There's no meaning to life without you

Tell me why should I care 'bout doing my hair

When I can't stop thinking about you

There's no moon without you

There's no Saturday nights without you

There's no walk through the park

No beat in my heart

No I love you, No I can't live without you…’

(Flashback to 2001)

“Sam?” Sam heard someone call out to her. She stood in the bathroom, looking down at her hands, looking at the plastic strip she was holding. She couldn’t bring herself to read the results. “Sam, are you in here?” she heard again. The voice sounded clearer, like it was in the bedroom. Grabbing the plastic strip, she walked out of the bathroom and saw that it was Chester; he was just about to come into the bathroom. “Hey. Are you okay?” he asked noticing that she seemed a little scared about something.

‘You told me everything would be cool/ Said I wouldn’t always feel blue…’

“Here” was all she could manage to get out. She handed him the test, still not looking at the result. He quickly looked at her.

“Is this what I think it is?” he asked.

“Yeah. It’s a pregnancy test” she responded shaking her head.

‘How come I feel like a wreck?/ How come the skies are all gray?/ How come my eyes are all red?...’

“You’re pregnant?”

“I don’t know. I didn’t look at the result, yet. I was hoping we could find out at the same time” she replied.

‘Why am I alone in bed?...’

“Okay” he nodded. He looked down at the test and back up at her, “Sam, what does two color lines mean?” he asked.

“Pregnant.”

‘You told me everything would be fine/ Why am I losing my mind?...’

She watched as a smile came across his face, “Then I’m going to be a dad” he stated.

“Is that what it says?” she asked him.

“Yes” he handed the test back to her and she looked down at it and saw two color lines. Excitement ran through her and she wrapped her arms around his neck. He did the same thing and wrapped his arms around her waist lifting her up in excitement.

(End of Flashback)

(Flashback to April 19, 2002)

“Okay, you can start pushing for me Sam” Dr. Montgomery said. Leaning her head down to her chest, Sam started pushing. Letting out a low growl, she gripped Chester’s hand tightly as the doctor started counting slowly to ten. Once the doctor reached ten she laid back against the hospital bed trying to regain her breath, but couldn’t regain it all back before she started to push again, “I’m starting to see the head. Just keep pushing a little more” Dr. Montgomery told her as she kept pushing. The doctor told her to stop so she could clean out the baby’s nose and the mouth with an aspirator. She was guessing that the head was out and the shoulders were left. It was almost all over.

“Oh, ***! It hurts” she cried out.

‘How come I feel like a fool?/ Why do I keep losing you?/ Why do I love in despair?/ When you're not there…’

“Were almost there” Dr. Montgomery stated as Sam could here a suctioning noise, “Okay, you can start pushing again” the doctor let out. Sam started pushing as hard as she could bring herself to, “It’s a boy” she heard the doctor say followed by the first cry from her son. A few minutes later the doctor had the baby lying on her stomach. The baby started to cry again as one of the nurses started rubbing the baby with a towel to clean him a little bit. Sam lifted her head a little to see her baby. Just seeing him made her cry. She waited for him to come into the world for a long time.

‘There's no me without you

There's no meaning to life without you

Tell me why should I care 'bout doing my hair

When I can't stop thinking about you

There's no moon without you

There's no Saturday nights without you

There's no walk through the park

No beat in my heart

No I love you, No I can't live without you…’

“You did it Sam. He’s here” she turned her head, looking at Chester. He moved some of her hair that was stuck to her forehead and leaned down to give her a light kiss on her forehead.

“Okay dad, would you like to cut the umbilical cord?” Dr. Montgomery asked Chester.

“Yes” he stated. The doctor handed him a sterilized pair of scissors and showed him where to cut on the umbilical cord. When he cut it, breaking the connection between Sam and the baby, the nurse took the baby to the side of the room to finish cleaning him up and to also weight and measure him. Chester let go of Sam's hand and followed the nurse.

‘So blue for you…’

Once she delivered the afterbirth and the baby was cleaned up, weighing and measuring at 8 pounds, 2 ounces and 22 inches long. A couple nurses wheeled her back to her room while taking the baby to the nursery. Chester left to tell the guys who were in the waiting room. Not to long after she was back in her room, Chester came back. A few minutes later the nurse, who was taking care of her and the baby, came in wheeling the baby in. Chester held him for a few minutes before handing him to Sam. The nurse showed her how to properly breastfeed the baby. When the baby was finished, the nurse left leaving the baby with Sam and Chester.

“We have to name this little guy” Chester stated touching the baby’s cheek, since Sam was still holding him.

‘So deep in love with you…’

“How about we name him after that character from the movie we just saw. I liked that name” she replied.

“The Crow?” he asked.

“Yeah. The character Eric Draven.”

‘So hard to say bye-bye…’

“Okay so what are we going to choose Eric? Or Draven?” he asked.

“Eric or Draven” she said to herself looking down at the baby who was still in her arms, “Draven.” She smiled and looked back at Chester, “Draven, now for a middle name?” she asked.

“I was thinking ‘Sebastian’ for the middle name” Chester responded.

“Draven Sebastian Bennington” she repeated fully, “I like it. Then its settle, that’s his name.”

Continuing Chapter 39

‘When you know how hard I've tried/ I tried baby/ No, No, No, No…’

(Flashback to January 2005)

“I can’t deal with this anymore Chester. I can’t deal with you always being gone. You’re gone all the time. I thought I could deal with you being gone all the time when you join the band, but I can’t do this anymore. How do I know that your not cheating!?!?” she said starting to yell at him.

‘You told me everything would be fine/ Why am I losing my mind?...’

Chester groaned in frustration, “*** **** it Sam! I can swear to you that I haven’t cheated on you and I’m never going to” he assured her.

“This is what the lawyers will call irreconcilable differences” she said to herself but loud enough for Chester to hear.

‘How come I feel like a fool?/ Why do I keep losing you?...’

“Please Sam don’t do this, I won't sign the papers.”

“I don’t want to do this either, but this is what’s best for us" she paused before continuing, "I want Draven to stay with me.”

“No, if I go through this divorce with you then I want us to share joint custody.”

“It’s better if I took him. You’re never home to begin with Chester.”

‘Why do I love in despair?/ When you're not there…’

It soon leaded into a bigger argument and Sam ended up leaving with Draven, going over to her mother’s house. When the next day came Sam filed for the divorce paper and they were sent to Chester. It took him about five months to finally sign them. Him and Sam both got lawyers because they still couldn’t agree on the custody arrangement for Draven. That’s when Chester started going out with Talinda, his own lawyer. Sam was not completely over Chester and felt threatened by Talinda being with him.

(End of Flashback)

‘There's no me without you

There's no meaning to life without you

Tell me why should I care 'bout doing my hair

When I can't stop thinking about you

There's no moon without you

There's no Saturday nights without you

There's no walk through the park

No beat in my heart

No I love you, No I can't live without you’

Remembering some of the stuff that happened between Chester and her, made her feel like an idiot for wanting the divorce in the first place. Sam started to cry as she kept thinking about it. It would always be something she'll regret doing.

The Next Day

“Are you ready?” Rob asked looking up at Talinda when she came out of the bathroom.

Talinda made her way over to the bed and slowly sat down. She turned her head to the right to look at Rob, who was putting his shoes on, and nodded her head, “Yeah. It’ll be good to get out of the house for a while” she told him. Turning her attention in front of her, Talinda let out a small sigh as she rested her right hand on her producing stomach. She felt the baby kick where her hand was at and she bent her head down, looking at her stomach smiling lightly. She remembered the first time the baby kick…

Talinda sat down on the couch and reached out for the T.V. remote. Once she grabbed it, she settled back against the couch and turned the T.V. on. She was glad to be able to be sitting instead of sleeping. She only had been on bed rest for a week now and she was starting to really hate it. There was still five months more of it to go.

Her stomach suddenly fluttered and she looked down at her stomach frowning a little. She looked up as she heard the door unlock. Her stomach fluttered again. Putting her hand against her stomach, she looked down again when she felt a movement. When it click to her what was happening her frown turned into a smile. The front door open and Rob walked in closing the door behind him.

Talinda looked up quickly seeing Rob, “Rob! Come here!” she called out to him.

Rob looked at Talinda wondering what was going on. He made his way over to her and sat next to her.

“Give me your hand” she replied to him.

Rob held out his right hand for Talinda. She took a hold of it and moved it closer to her stomach, resting it against the spot she felt the baby kick.

“You feel that?” she asked smiling at him.

“No” Rob responded to her softly shaking his head.

“Wait. You’ll feel it.” Just as she finished saying that the baby kicked right where Rob’s hand was resting.

“I feel it now. It doesn’t hurt does it?” he asked looking at her.

Talinda shook her head, “No.” She smiled looking at him.

“Talinda?”

Talinda snapped out of her memory and looked up seeing Rob standing in front of her.

He sat down next to her, “Are you okay? You were out of it for a while.”

“Yeah. I’m okay. I was just remembering when the baby first kicked.”

“Alright” he replied taking her word for it, “There’s something else that I want to ask you since where going to the ultrasound today. I don’t want to make you upset by bringing this up, but how would you feel about getting a paternity test done on the baby?”

Talinda immediately started to shake her head, “No. I don’t want to find out just yet. You mind if we wait a little more? I just don’t feel comfortable doing the test while the baby’s still in the womb.”

“I understand. I’m not pressuring you to get it done now. I just want to let you know that whatever the result is, I will stand by you” he told her taking a hold of her right hand which was now resting in her lap.

Talinda just looked down. She started to feel tears sting her eyes.

“You ready to go now?”

Talinda moved her left hand up to her eyes, wiping them, “Yeah. Let’s go” she said nodding her head.

Rob gave Talinda’s hand a squeeze before he got up. Helping her up, they both made there way out of the room.

Minutes later, Rob pulled into the hospital parking lot finding a spot easily. After parking his car, he got out and made his way around the car to help Talinda out. Opening the door, Rob held his hand out for her to take. Once she got out, Rob closed the car door and the two of them started walking closer to the hospital. Rob took a hold of Talinda’s hand as they walked. When they reached the hospital the sliding doors opened automatically and the both of them walked inside. Walking over to the elevators, Talinda pressed the up button. It didn’t take long for the elevator doors to open up. When they did Rob and Talinda stepped onto them and Talinda pressed the button for which floor they needed to be on.

When the elevator reached there floor, they walked off and walked down a hall to get to the registration desk. Talinda let go of Rob’s hand and walked up closer to the desk to sign in, “I have an appointment with Dr. Bergstrom” she told the woman at the desk.

After getting the paperwork all completed, filled out and taken care of, Talinda went and sat next to Rob to wait and be called.

Rob grabbed Talinda’s hand, rubbing his thumb over her knuckles, “How you feeling?”

“Okay” she responded looking over at him.

They kept holding hands as they waited.

A nurse came out, “Talinda Bentley?” she called out finally.

Talinda and Rob both got up and walked toward the nurse, who just walked down the hall, stopped at a weight station. Talinda handed her purse to Rob when the nurse told her to step on the scale. After getting weighted, Talinda was told to sit down and the nurse checked her temperature and blood pressure and asked her questions. When that was all down, Talinda and Rob followed the nurse down another hall and into a room. As soon as the nurse finished setting the room up and told Talinda to change into a gown she left the room closing the door behind her. Talinda put her purse down on the floor and sat down on the exam table. She opened the gown and put it on after taking her shirt and pants off.

After changing into the gown, it didn’t take long for Dr. Bergstrom to come into the exam room, “Hi Talinda. How are you feeling?” Bergstrom asked her shaking her hand.

“Good” Talinda replied to her.

“I see you dragged the dad along with you” Bergstrom joked sitting down on her stool when she noticed that Rob was in the room. Dr. Bergstrom knew Talinda’s situation and that Rob could be a potential father.
