Chapter 24

Sorry about the long wait for this update. Been occupied by school and the other story I've been working on. And again I'm sorry about this update being short. I promised that the next one will be a little long. Enjoy.

And to clear this update up. This update it just to let you know what made Sam run away. And where as to why she went there will be clear up in the next few updates.

******

Once Chester got Sam into Draven’s room and left the room, Sam lay down and fell right asleep. A couple minutes after she had fell asleep, things started to fill her head. Trying to stop them from coming into full swing she toss and turn in her sleep then she stopped turning and got in a comfortable position…

(Dream)

Sam got out of bed and walked out of the room. She stopped at the doorway and notice that something wasn’t right so she walked down the stairs when she heard some voices. So she walked over to the railing that separated the dinning room and the living room when she saw that Chester and Draven were dress in tuxedos and that there backs were facing her.

“Chester? Draven? What’s going on?” she asked. Chester turned around and walked over to her.

“Sam, I don’t love you any more. We won’t work out like we use too. I’m sorry” he said and walked away from her when she saw Talinda wearing a wedding dress holding a wine glass. When Chester came back over to her, he acted like she wasn’t there when she called out to him as he picked up his wine glass that was on the coffee table.

“To my beautiful precious bride” he said finishing his speech.

“Oh, and to my loving and devoted and extremely handsome husband” Talinda said clinking the glass with Chester.

“Chester, no. Don’t you dare” Sam said but he couldn’t hear her.

“What about me?” Draven asked.

“To my best -- no. To my best little buddy in the whole world…”

“Draven, Draven, come to your mother. Draven?” Sam said over Chester’s talking.

“…Now guess what?"

“Draven?” Sam called out.

“Talinda has a surprise.”

“I love surprises” Draven said

“You do?” Talinda asked.

“You know what, she wants you to call her ‘Mommy’” he said saying the last part pretty loud.

“Nooooo!” Sam screamed out.

(End of Dream)

Sam sat straight up and looked around the room trying to calm down her mind from that dream. ‘No Chester would never do that to me. I got to make sure he wouldn’t do that’ she thought to herself and got up. She put her robe on since she was in her pajamas. Once she got it on, she walked over to the door and opened it up and walked down the stairs slowly. When she got to the bottom, she just stood at the last step since she heard some talking and also because she didn’t want to be seen by anyone.

“Once Sam is better we then can move on to get married again like we planned on doing before this happened.”

“Chester, what if she never gets better?”

“I’m not going to talk about that. She’s going to get better. I just know it.” That was all Sam wanted to hear. She turned around and slowly went back up the stairs. Walking back into the room she was sleeping in, she saw the clothes that she was wore earlier today on the floor. She then took the robe off and changed back into the regular clothes. Once she changed, she walked over to the door but stopped and looked around the room noticing that it was Draven’s room. That’s when she noticed that he wasn’t sleeping in his own room. The worse thought of something bad happening to Draven came to her mind. ‘I have to fine Draven before something happens to him. What did Chester do?’ she thought to herself and then opened the door walking out of his room slowly. Sam then walked down the hall going into her and Chester’s room and grab her car keys and purse that was in the closet. She walked out of the room and slowly made her way down the stairs, ‘I got to get out of here. Chester doesn’t love me anymore. If I leave he can go and get with Talinda like he really wants to’ she thought to herself when she came to the last step.

When she came to the last step she peeked around the wall to see if Chester or Talinda were in the room. Seeing that they weren’t, she made a run for it and quickly walked down the small steps. She then saw that they were out on the patio. Luckily they didn’t see her. Looking to her left for other way out, she saw a door leading to the garage door so she went down another case of small steps that lead to the door. She opened it slowly and then closed it behind her when she went through the door. She leaned up against the door and waited to see if Chester or Talinda saw her. After a couple seconds, she walked across the garage and opened the side door and walked to the driveway. Getting to the driveway, she walked to her car since it wasn’t in the garage, she was glad that Talinda didn’t park her car behind her’s. Starting the car up, she hoped that Chester didn’t hear it and then back her car out of the driveway. Once she got down to the end of the street she wasn’t sure were to go so she turned to the right and kept driving.

A couple minutes later she found herself parking her car at her mom’s house. She just sat in the car for a little while not wanting to go up to her house. Finally getting the courage, she got out of her car and walked up to her door and just stood out there not ringing the door bell or anything. Before she knocked on the door, the door open and there stood her mom, ‘No. She's going to call Chester and send me back there. I can’t go back there’ she thought to herself.

“Sam? Sweetheart what are you doing here?” Lily asked coming out of the house closing the door behind her.

“I want to see Draven, mom. But I can’t, I’ll scare him if I see him.”

“Does Chester know you’re here Sam? Do you want me to call him to come and pick you up?” she asked touching her arm.

“No! Don’t touch me!” she said moving her arm from her “I won’t go back there. Chester doesn’t love me anymore. He never did” she said leaning against the wall sliding down it so that she was sitting on the floor. She then brought her legs up closer to her.

“Sam what are you talking about? Chester does love you” her mom said kneeling down next to her.

“No he doesn’t. It’s just like dad done to you but it was your fault that you and dad got a divorce.”

“No it wasn’t, Sam. Your father and I just fell out of love just like you and Chester did but at least you and Chester found your way back to each other and were able to work things out.”

“He did it only for Draven. He still loves Sandra.”

“Sandra? Sam, Sandra's dead. She’s been dead for a long time.”

“You haven’t heard mom? Sandra’s not dead after all. She’s Talinda.”

“What?”

“She told me herself.”

“Sam, are you sure about that?”

“You don’t believe me do you? You never believe me! You never will!” she said getting up running to her car as she heard her mom calling her name, but she ignore her and got into the car and drove off. Not knowing where to go, she just drove until she arrived at a school. Her old high school.

Chapter 25

Note: The reference of rape is touched in this chapter. If you're uncomfortable reading it then skip the italic parts. Other than that I hope you enjoy this update.

Sam had managed to drive herself all the way to her old school, Greenway High School. She got out of her car and slowly walked around the school. When she came to the area where the lockers were at she kept walking around the lockers until she saw a bulletin board where they posted flyers at. A flyer caught her eyes so she walked closer to it and saw that it was a flyer for the next football game, ‘Sam, were going to Charlotte’s after the game. Meet me at your locker’ Sandra’s voice filled her head. Sam turned her head and started to slightly smile when she saw the lockers that were behind her. She walked over to them, starting from the farthest end, and ran her hand over the lockers. Looking at the numbers she stopped at the last one of the row. She saw that it was the one she used when she went to the school. She tried to open it but it wouldn’t open so she stopped trying and walked backward when she hit against something. She turned around and came face to face with Talinda.

“How did you find me?” she asked softly walking forward.

“I came to take you home” Talinda said turning around.

“This is home. Well, it used to be” she said slightly turning around so that she wasn’t facing Talinda but just looking around the area she was standing at.

“Sam, Chester is really worried about you.”

She turned her head looking at her, “You’re a liar. You want to do something bad to me so you could have Chester all to yourself” she said.

“No, I don’t want Chester. I’m with Rob now. Draven really needs to see you. He misses his mother”

“I miss him, too. I want to go home to see my son” she said softly.

“Then come with me, Sam. I’ll take you home to see Draven” she said walking closer to her.

“No you won’t, because I can’t see him. I’ll scare him if I do and you’re not even real, none of this is real. I’m having -- I’m having a terrible nightmare” she said turning around facing the bulletin board.

She touched her arm lightly making her face her, “Sam, I’m right here. Were standing in the middle of Greenway High School, our old high school, right in front of your old locker” she said pointing at her old locker that was in back of her.

“So -- so where is everyone?” she asked crossing her arms.

“Sam, there was no school today.”

“Why? Because of me? Did I make them not come to school?”

“No, no you didn’t Sam. It’s the weekend.”

“Really?” she said to herself moving back so she was facing the bulletin board again.

“Yeah. You know there’s no school on the weekends” she said standing in front of her obviously hearing what she just said.

“I know that” she said moving her arms down.

“See, now that's why no ones at school, okay? So let me take you home, Sam. My cars right outside”

“No, your car is totaled. The front was smash. The windshield was broken. I saw it. There was blood everywhere” she said turning around and walked back a little so that she was facing her old locker again. Then she turned around to face Talinda.

“That was a long time ago, Sam” she moved a little closer to her.

“Yeah, yeah, it was a long time ago. And you survived and changed everything -- your face, your name, and you sat and waited until you had the perfect opportunity to come after me”

“You’re not going to make me hate you, Sam. It’s not your fault. I was stupid enough to get behind the wheel of the car. Think about what the accident did to me and you”

“I’m not listening…”she put her finger on her ears walking a way for her “… what you want is for Chester to send me away so you could have him and my son” she said turning around to face her again and walked up to her.

“No, Sam. I’m here to help you, okay? I’m here to help you” she said holding her arms out touching both her arms but she didn’t want anyone to touch her.

“Get off of me!” she said pushing her backwards into the locker. Sam saw her slide down the lockers to the floor and saw that she wasn’t moving ‘No, I didn’t kill her, did I?’ she thought to herself and then she slowly walked up closer to her. She kneeled beside her and lifted up her arm checking her pulse. Filling one, she put her arm back down. Sam got up ran back to her car, getting in and drove off until she arrived to Sandra’s old house. Pulling up, she saw that it was trash and looked like it was also abandoned.

Shutting off the car, Sam looked at the house and closed her eyes. When she opened them again she looked at the house and saw that the house was nicely kept up and not trashed at all. When she looked near the door, she saw someone standing there and it looked a lot like Sandra’s father. So she got out of her car and walked up slowly to the front door. As she was walking up to the front door she saw that the house was trashed again and that Sandra’s father wasn’t there. Once she reached the front door, she pushed it opened, stepping into the house and looked around seeing that there was nothing inside except for a couple pieces of furniture. Sam then walked down the hall until she came to a door that was closed. She knew that it was Sandra’s old room, so she opened the door and walked in seeing that there was only a mattress on the floor. As she walked further into the room, she suddenly remember what happened in this room after Sandra’s ‘death’ and saw that the room was slowly changing into what it looked like twelve years ago…

Continuing Chapter 25

Samantha walked into the room and looked at the bed of her now dead best friends’ room. She saw that there was nothing on the bed like Sandra’s father had said there was.

“Mr. Grace…” she called out turning around coming face to face with Robert Grace. She lowered her voice and spoke out, “…there’s nothing that Sandra left for me on the bed like you said there was.”

“I know. I lied” he said closing the door behind him, locking it.

“Mr. Grace? What are you doing?”

“You know Samantha ever since I met you the first time Sandra brought you over to our house I have been dreaming about you, about us being together. I wish that was possible” he said walking up closer to her pulling her into a kiss but she pushed away.

“You can’t do this Mr. Grace! You have a wife! A family!” she said wiping her mouth.

“No, you don’t have to worry about them coming” he said softly and then his voice changed, “Because I want to make you pay for what you did to my daughter” he said angrily grabbing her neck.

“Mr. Grace, you’re hurting me!” she choked out.

“Why don’t you call me Robert? I'm not hurting you as bad right now as I’m going to later Samantha” he said letting go of her neck and pushed her on to the bed. He then covered his body over her’s and covered his mouth with her. As he did that, she moved her arms in front of her to push him off of her.

“Nooo! Get off me!” she said struggling to get up since he was still on her.

“Oh, no you don’t” he said stopping her, pushing her back down onto the bed as he covered his mouth with hers again. He then started to move his hand under her shirt. Once he got his hand under her shirt she started struggling more to get him to stop from going up any further since she couldn’t say anything as his mouth was still covering hers. Trying to think fast of what to do, she moved one of her legs up and kneed him, making him let go of her quickly as he doubled over in pain giving her enough time to reach over to Sandra’s nightstand. There she picked up a picture frame as he was slowly starting to get up. When she hit him over the head it knocked him back down and Sam got off the bed and ran over to the door trying to open it but wouldn’t because it was locked. As she was going to unlock the door a hand went over her mouth and her stomach. Robert picked her up and took her back to the bed, “Wrong move, *****” he said throwing her onto the bed and got back on top of her, “I’m going to make you pay for what you did to my daughter!” he angrily said grabbing her arms with one of his hands to stop her from hitting him while he took his other hand and started to unzip his pants.

“Noooooo!” she screamed hoping someone would hear her and come and stop him. Still struggling, Sam was able to get her arms away from his hand but he grabbed them again before she could hit him and held on to her arms tighter. This made her scream even more.

After a few more moves, he leaned down to her ear, “I would shut up if I were you” he said still holding her down, “Now why don’t you go and be a good girl and take a shower before you leave.” Sam didn’t look at him and tried her hardest not to cry. Seeing that she wasn’t looking at him, he forced her to do so, “Oh, and one more thing, if you ever tell anyone, I’ll come and kill you. Do you understand?” he said grabbing her chin to make her move her head up and down. Then he let go of her and pulled his pants up and walked out of the room, leaving her to herself.

After Sam stop thinking about her rape, she walked around the room slightly crying to herself. She then remembered what she did right after the rape…

When he left the room, Sam turned to her side and curled up into a ball and cried all the tears she had left. After she stopped crying, she got up and put her pants back on, then walked into the bathroom. She made sure that the door was locked before she took off her clothes. Then she turned on the shower, getting in and reached for the soap putting it on the washcloth and then scrubbed herself clean, trying to take off Sandra’s father's touch. Once she was finished she got out and just put her clothes back on without drying herself off. She then unlocked the door, opening it and walked down the hall to the front door. As she was about to go to the door, Robert’s voice stopped her, “Remember Samantha, tell anyone and your dead” but she didn’t say anything to him and just walked out of the house getting into her car and drove back home.

After she got home, she walked into the house and was greeted by Lily’s voice from the kitchen “Sam! What did Robert want to show you?” she asked.

“Just some picture of Sandra, mom. I’m going to go up stairs.”

“Okay sweetheart.”

She walked up stairs and into her room, closing the door behind her. Once she had the door close she quickly ripped off the clothes that she had on and walked to her closet taking some new clothes out putting them on. She then walked to her nightstand and took out matches that she had to light her candles and put them in her pocket. Then she walked over to her pile of clothes and grabbed them walking over to the door opening it and walked out and down the stairs, walking by the kitchen. Lily didn’t notice her as she walked into the garage grabbing a bottle of lighter fluid with her free hand. Walking to her car, since the garage door was open, she set her clothes on the hood of the car and opened the door and putting the lighter fluid on her seat. She then grabbed her clothes off the hood of her car and threw them onto the seat. After putting the stuff in her car she walked back into the house, “Mom, I’m going to go to the park. I’ll be back in a while.”

“Okay, don’t be to long. Dinners going to be ready.”

“Alright” she said turning around and then walked to her car getting in and drove off to the local park. Once she got there, she parked her car and grabbed the stuff that was on her seat. She walked to a garbage can that was way in then back of the park. When she got there she threw her clothes in the garbage can and put some lighter fluid on her clothes hoping that it wouldn’t cause a big fire and hoping that it wouldn’t last so long either. She reached into her pocket and took out the matches, pulling out a stick and lit it, dropping it on her clothes. After dropping the match, she stepped back a little and put the rest of the matches back into her pocket, watching her clothes burn. She stood there until the fire was almost out then she walked back to her car and drove back home knowing that her parents would kill her for being out to late.

“Sam why were you out so late?” was the first thing her mom asked when she saw her.

“I just needed to have some time to think.”

“Oh, I’m sorry Sam. I know you going threw a hard time with losing Sandra. I know that you miss her” Lily said as she brought Sam into her arm hugging her as she just cried.

When she finally stopped thinking about what had happen to her, she sat down on the floor at the end of the bed bringing her leg up closer to her and kept crying to herself when she heard some footsteps coming.

Chapter 26

First of all after a long time of not updating this story I would like to thanks geeko and sebby (I'm going call you that since it's easier of me to write, hehe) for the reviews. Now that I'm done with school I can truly write in my free time! Anyways thanks for your support in keeping this story alive and making me want to still post it. Here the long awaited update :p.

******

“Oh” Talinda moaned when she woke up and felt her head killing her, “Oh.”

“Talinda? Sam?” she heard someone say as she heard footsteps coming closer.

“Oh ***, my head.”

“Talinda? Sam? ...” she heard again “...Talinda? ...” she then turned her head and saw that it was Rob as he came to her side, kneeling next to her, “Hey, are you okay?”

“Oh, Rob…” she grabbed his arm.

“What happened?” he asked her.

“Hey, where’s Sam?” she asked not seeing her where they were.

“Uh, I don’t know. That’s a good question, but it looks like she found you, though, huh?” he said putting his hand behind her head as she pushed her body forward so he could look at the back of her head.

“Oh. I was this close to getting her to come home with me.”

“It’s all right.”

“But she panicked at the last minute.”

“What happened? Did she hit you over the head?”

“No, she pushed me against the locker. She didn’t mean to hurt me Rob.”

“Okay, come on.”

“Rob, she’s out to launch” she said looking up at him.

“I would think so now, come on, we have to find her…” he said helping her up, “Are you okay? You're not feeling nauseas?”

“No, the baby and I are fine if that's what you're concerned about” she said.

“Yeah. How’d you know that she would come here?” he asked.

“Well I tried figuring out where she would go and then it hit me that she may not be just in L.A. but that she might also be in Phoenix, so I came here and the first thing I thought about was Greenway.”

“Good thinking. Do you know where else she would go?”

“There’s a couple places I would think she would go. Hey, does Chester and Sam still own that house here?” she asked.

“If they did they might be renting it out, but I think Sam sold it before she came out to L.A.”

“Okay, so I think she would either go to her parents’ house or my old house” she said, “She may even be at the park. That’s were we use to hang out at.”

“Let’s try your old house” he said.

“Okay” she said. They then walked over to where her car was at and Talinda drove since she still knew where her childhood home was still at. When they got there she saw Sam’s car and was shocked to see that the condition of the house she grew up in. After parking her car behind Sam’s they both got out and walked up to the front door, that was were she saw that it was open. They walked in and Talinda took off down the hall when she heard some crying coming from one of the rooms. As she got closer down the hall she saw that it was her old room. She saw that the door was open so she walked closer to the door and saw Sam sitting on the floor at the end of the bed with her back facing her.

“Oh ***. I’m so sorry, Sandra. It should of -- it should of never -- it should of never happen” Sam said in between her cries turning her head to look at her.

Chapter 26 Continued

“What do you mean it should of never happen?” she asked walking over to her kneeling down.

“Well I…” she said getting up walking over to the window across the room as Talinda got up also.

“Sam --” Talinda turned and held up her hand stopping Rob from saying anything else.

“I came -- I came over here two months after your accident. Your dad wanted to give me some pictures, of me and you, that you left for me.”

‘I don’t remember leaving any pictures’ Talinda thought.

“And um, I came here and your dad said that the pictures were in your room. So I came into your room, but there were no pictures. Your dad then came into the room and he told me that he always dreamt about him and me together. Then he kissed me and touched me and he…” Talinda then stopped her knowing were she was going with this.

“Shut up! You’re a lair” she cried out.

“He said it would be a secret…”

“My father was a good man. I don’t want you to be talking about my father like that! He was a good man! He would never do that!”

“It's exactly how it happen” she cried out.

“No, I know exactly how it happened, Samantha. You knew that my father was alone, so you called over here to see if you could come over and my father let you while my mother was at the hospital hoping I would recover! Well, you came here and opened up your bloused and then you kissed him. You asked for it all. It was you, Samantha. It wasn’t my father, it was you!” Talinda said releasing her anger out on Sam not wanting to believe that her father did that to her best friend. All Sam did was shake her head and walked over to the bed, sitting down on it. Talinda turned around wanting to yell at her again but Rob stopped her from doing it.

“Talinda, look, we don’t have time for this. Sam is in no shape” he said holding her arm.

“Oh so you’re going to take Sam side in this and believe her?”

“No I’m not taking sides.”

“Well, she’s lucid enough to lay the blame on my father. Somebody has to defend him” she said still upset.

“I didn’t want it to happened” Sam said wiping her tears away.

“We were best friends Samantha. We did everything together. We were even on the cheerleading squad together! You think that I’m going to believe you on something like this, especially when it's about my father?” she said moving her arms out from Rob’s hand walking closer to her.

“I tried forgetting it” she said

“Oh **** right you should of forgot it because it never happen. How could you make up something sick like that?” Talinda asked.

“I didn’t make it up. It really happened” Sam said crying.

“Don’t you dare make this about my father! Make it his fault!” she said as Rob put his hand on her shoulder making her turn around to face him.

“Okay Talinda, that’s enough. Come on, Sam needs you.”

“She’s a ****” she said turning around to look at her.

“No, look, look at me. Your father was the adult. All right, even if he did take advantage of her. He’s the one at fault” he said grabbing her shoulders to make her look at him.

“No, Rob!” she yelled at him.

“I know that you love your father. I know that you adored him. But no matter how much you loved him, you can not blame Sam for what he did” he said as she broke down in his arms realizing that it could be true.

“Oh my ***! He did it! When I woke up, my father was acting strange. He did do it. He raped my best friend” she said pulling away looking at him then she broke down again as Rob pulled her into his arms again.

“Your father made a terrible mistake” he said letting go of her.

“I know he did. But why, why did he have to do it?” she asked.

“I don’t know, baby. Look you need to take it easy, okay? This stress isn’t good for the baby. Talinda, don’t throw away your friendship with Sam, it's not her fault. Do you hear me?” as she shook her head “…alright?”

“Sam I’m sorry for getting mad at you. I didn’t mean to. I never thought my father would do something like that” she said getting a little closer to her, kneeling down in front of her. She then slowly touched her arm which made her jump.

“Don’t touch me! I don’t want to be touch” she said moving her arm away from her, bringing it closer to her chest. Talinda just stayed there for a couple seconds and then got up and walked to Rob.

“I’ll go try and talk to her, okay?” he said walking over to Sam who still had her arm close to her, “Sam…” he put his hand on her shoulder. She didn’t jump like she did on Talinda and looked up at Rob, “…Let me take you home” he said.

Talinda didn’t hear anything else that Rob was saying to Sam as she walked out into the hall, going down it a little bit. She then stopped walking and leaned against the wall, crying to herself as she slid down the wall and on to the floor. When she stopped crying, she wiped her tries away and pulled out her cell phone for her pocket and dialed Chester’s number but got his answer machine.

“Hey Chester, it’s me Talinda. I just wanted to let you know that Rob and I found Sam and were going to bring her home. Will see you when we get back” she said and then hung up her phone and got up off the floor walking back into the room, stopping in the doorway.

“Okay? So let me take you home” Rob said to Sam.

“Yeah -- I want to go home” Sam said shaking her head.

“Okay. Will you let me help you up?” he asked her and she shook her head again. Rob then grabbed her arm and helped her up, letting go of her when she was up. They both walked up to Talinda. Then they all walked out of the house and Rob walked Sam over to her car and had her sit in the back seat. Then he turned to Talinda.

“You’re going to be okay?” he said putting his arms around her.

“Yeah” she said doing the same.

“I’ll drive Sam’s car and follow you so you can return the car” he said letting go of her.

“Okay” and Rob leaned down, giving her a quick kiss. After the kiss, Talinda then turned around and got into the rental car. Pulling out onto the street, she drove back to the airport, returning the car and then got into Sam’s car and they all drove back to L.A.

Chapter 27

Thanks geeko and Ma77h3W for the reviews! There's two updates today!

******

A Couple Hours Later

When Chester heard the message that Talinda left for him, after he came back from seeing Draven, he was happy to know that Sam was safe and that she was coming home. Once he heard the garage door open, Chester was about to run out into the garage when he sat back down on the couch thinking that Sam doesn’t need a whole bunch of people hovering over her, since he didn’t know if she was worst then before she ran off. A couple minutes later, he heard the door from the garage to the house open. He stood up and saw Talinda come up the small steps first then follow by Rob who was guiding Sam into the house. Chester then walked over slowly over to Talinda.

“It’s okay Sam. We’re back home now” he heard Rob say.

“Sam, I'll take you up to our room so you could lie down” he said to her as she looked at him like she didn’t know who he was. She then looked at Rob and he shook his head as to say it was okay.

“Yeah” she said softly.

After Sam said yes, he slowly picked up his arm while looking at her to see if she would flinch. When she didn't he put his hand on her lower back and pushed her a little forward to make her walk. Once they got to their room they walked over to the bed and Chester sat her down and then he went and sat next to her. Sam then looked at him.

“I -- I want -- I want to go and take a shower”

“Sure. You can go ahead” he said and then got up from the bed and left Sam in the room so she could take the shower that she wanted to do. The minute he walked out of the room he walked down the stairs and into the family room where Talinda and Rob were at.

“Where was Sam at?” he asked mainly looking at Talinda.

“I found her in Phoenix. She was at Greenway High”

“She went all the way to Arizona? How the **** did she get there when she's in this state of mind?” he asked.

“Uh, Chester there something we need to tell you” Talinda said.

“What is it?” he asked confused.

“Maybe you should sit down” she said as both her and Rob sat down. He then sat down and kept looking at her, “Um, what I’m about to tell you might be shocking.”

“Tell me what?” …

Upstairs

Once Chester left the room Sam slowly got up from the bed and walked into the bathroom, closing the door behind her not locking it. When she got into the bathroom she saw herself in the mirror and quickly looked away not wanting to see herself anymore. Then she turned to her right and took a couple steps toward the bathtub and turned the water on getting it to the temperature she wanted. When she did, she filled up the tub as she took off her clothes leaving only her bra and underwear on, setting the rest of her clothes on the countertop. After she did that, she stepped back over to the bathtub and shut the water off. Then she stepped into the bathtub and sat down in the water. She just sat in the bathtub for awhile and then stood up grabbing a washcloth and a bar of soap. She rubbed the soap into the washcloth and washed her whole body.

When she finished putting the soap on her body, she put the soap and washcloth back. Setting back down in the water, she washed off all the soap. After all the soap was off she stayed in the bathtub when his voice came into her head, ‘You know Samantha, ever since I met you the first time Sandra brought you over to our house I have been dreaming about you, about us being together. I wish that it was possible’ “Stop it…stop, leave me alone” she said to herself ‘I have been dreaming about you, about us being together’ filled her head again. She wanted to make it stop, make the voices go away, make this nightmare she was in go away, so she slowly started to slide her head into the water and kept herself under there. She then started to slip out of consciousness and everything turn dark…

Downstairs

“Tell me what?” Chester asked Talinda again.

Talinda sighed, “You’re not -- you’re not the only one who was taken advantaged of.”

“What happened Talinda? Tell me what happen to Sam?” he asked.

“Chester, Sam was rape” she said.

“What! When did this happen? Just recently?” he asked standing up.

“No. It happened two months after my accident. She must have blocked it out for twelve years.”

“Did she tell you who did it?” he asked.

“It was my father” she said. Chester could tell that she was trying to hold back on her tears when he saw one run down her face.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. We found her in the same room it happened in, my childhood room. She started talking about what happen between her and my father” she paused, “At first I didn’t want to listen, I even yelled at her. Chester I might have made things even worst for Sam” she said.

“Is that why she only wanted to talk to Rob, because you made her not trust anyone around her?” he asked.

“No, I don’t know why. Um, look Chester, I do a lot of work with a therapist who was working at Benjamin Rush now she’s working in a new hospital, Rose Lawn which is in Inglewood. That’s only an hour a way from here…”

Before she could finish he cut her off, “You just want to send Sam away. I’m not going to do that Talinda. She’s my fiancée for crying out loud. I can’t send her away because she never locked me up when I had a breakdown” he said starting to get upset.

“Chester, I don’t want you to have to send her away, but she needs all the help she can get even though you’re trying your best.”

Chester sat back down not saying anything when he realized something, “Wait a minute, Sam been in the bathroom for a while” he said.

“Let me go and check on her” Talinda said as he just looked at her not sure if he should let her go up there.

“Alright” he said then she got up and walked out of the room.

Upstairs

Once Talinda got up to Chester and Sam’s room she walked in and went over to the bathroom door. Seeing that it was close, she knocked on the door, “Sam are you okay? You’ve been in there for awhile now. I’m just checking to make sure your okay” she said hoping that Sam could hear her and talk back to her. When she didn’t hear anything, she grabbed the handle to the door and turned it seeing that the door was unlocked. Pushing it opened, she walked into the bathroom and saw that the bathtub was full but didn’t see Sam anywhere. Wait a minute did she just say that the bathtub was full?

Once she realized that, she quickly walked over to the tub and saw that Sam was under the water. Quickly putting her hands into the water, she put her hands under her head lifting her head up over the water. She then moved one of her hands from under her head to across her stomach and pulled her over the tub and on to the floor. Slowly setting her head on the floor, she tilt her head back and opened her mouth plugging her nose and put her mouth over hers, blowing some air into her mouth two times. Then she let go of her mouth and put her hands together pushing on her chest twenty times, “Breathe **** it” she said as counted to twenty. She went back and plugged her nose again, putting her mouth over hers again, blowing more air into her mouth and then went back to pushing on her chest again twenty more time, “Come on Sam. Breathe for me” she said still pushing on her chest. Then all of the sudden she coughed and sat up.

Chapter 28

Sam coughed and sat up not knowing what just happen, “Oh, my ***. Oh, thank *** you're ok.” she heard and felt a hand on her shoulder. Looked to her right, she saw Talinda sitting next to her. Talinda moved her hand from Sam’s shoulder and Sam moved back hitting her back against the sink cabinet. Sam saw a towel come across her face and she yanked it out of Talinda’s hands, wrapping it around her body. She then looked up at Talinda who was now standing up, “I found you under the water, Sam. Why were you trying to drown yourself?” she asked kneeling next to her as she still kept looking at her. Then Sam moved her left hand and slapped Talinda hard across the face. She quickly got up and ran toward the door pushing it open but it wouldn’t open, “Sam…” she heard Talinda call from behind her. She turned around.

“Stay away from me” she said panicking, wanting to get out of the bathroom and away for Talinda.

“Let me help you open the door” she said walking closer to her.

“No! Stop, don’t move!” she said turning around and pulled the door open. It opened this time and she ran out and into Chester. He put his hand on her shoulder and she moved back quickly moving his hands off her shoulders.

“Sam, calm down it's me Chester.”

“I just -- I just don’t want to be touched. I don’t want to be in the same room -- the same room with Talinda” she said slightly shaking.

“It’s okay Talinda’s not going to hurt you. Come sit down with me” he said. She just stood there for a little bit and then moved towards the bed and sat down as Chester sat down next to her, “Sam it's alright, I know what you going through. You can tell me about it.”

“No you don’t…you don’t know what it's like. It’s like I’m living in a nightmare that's never ending” she said slightly rocking back and forth crying softly to herself. When she felt an arm wrap around her she didn’t let it bother her and Chester pulled her closer to him letting her cry on his shoulder.

“Shhh it’s okay.” Then she pulled away from him and wiped the tears from her face and moved back against the pillows and just looked at him. Looking over him, she saw Talinda standing in the bathroom doorway and she just stayed silent.

“Is she okay?” she heard Talinda asked, ‘You hate me, you want to kill me. But I'm going to kill you first.’ she thought to herself.

“I’m not sure. She’s calmed down for right now” she heard Chester say. Then he touched her arm, “Sam why don’t you laid down and try and get some sleep?” he got up off the bed and walked towards the closet, coming back out and walked back to her handing her some clothes since she was still in the towel, “Here you go Sam. You can change into these and go to sleep.”

She took the clothes not saying anything and stayed on the bed, looking over towards the bathroom and saw Talinda staring at her, “Make her stop watching me” she said.

“Okay” he said turning around and looked at Talinda.

“You know what I have to go anyways.”

“Are you sure?” he asked.

“Yeah, I don’t want to make her anymore upset” she said walking towards the bedroom door, “Plus Rob will want me to go home and rest, but listen I’ll call you later, ok?”

“Uh-huh”

“Don’t bother” Sam said sarcastically. Talinda didn’t say anything and walked out of the room as Chester sat next to her.

“I’m going to leave the room so you could change and get some sleep. I’ll be back tomorrow morning to check on you, okay?”

“Yeah, I’m just tired” she said then he got up and walked out of the room leaving her alone. She looked down next to her and saw the clothes Chester gave her, seeing that they were pajamas. She picked them up and got off the bed and walked into the bathroom and put on the pajamas. After getting the pajamas on she walked back out into the bedroom and lay down on the bed. She just lay on the bed not falling sleep. A few minutes later, she felt like someone was in the room so she turned to her left and sat up a little seeing Robert Grace standing next to the bed smiling. All she did was scream.

The bedroom door opened and Chester came in, “What’s wrong Sam!” he asked her. Sam looked to her right seeing that he was sitting on the bed, “Its okay. He’s not going to hurt you, okay?” he said putting his hand on her shoulder. She didn’t say anything to him because she was still scared from seeing Robert, “Just lie down and get some sleep. I’ll stay with you until you do, okay?” he said moving his hand away.

Knowing that Chester was going to stay with her, she laid back down closing her eyes feeling Chester move some of her hair. Feeling safe she fell into a deep sleep.

The Next Day

Before Sam opened her eyes she felt someone get on to the bed, “Sam? You want to get up and come down stairs?” she heard who ever was on the bed asked. She opened her eyes and saw that it was Chester and sat up, “Hey you want to come downstairs and get something to eat?” She shook her head yes and Chester got off the bed as she did to. She walked over to him, “You can change if you want to” he said and she turned around and walked into the walk-in-closet and picked something to wear. When she finished she walked out of the closet and into the bathroom to change. After she was done she went back into the bedroom seeing that Chester was still in the room waiting for her. She walked over to him and he held out his hand for her. She took it and the both of them walked out of the room and downstairs.

Once she got downstairs, Chester took her over to the dinning table and she sat down on one of the chairs. Chester walked out of the room and a couple minutes later he came back out with a plate and gave it to her. She then started eating realizing how hungry she really was. While she was eating she heard the door bell go off, she saw Chester walk over towards the door. A few minutes later, she saw that it was Talinda and Rob as they walked through the living room and back outside onto the patio as Chester followed them.

When she saw Talinda she wanted to hurt her. She wanted to blame her for her father raping her because if she never crashed her car she wouldn’t have been raped. And also, Sam wanted her baby. She put her fork down and got up walking into the kitchen. Looking back behind her, she checked to see if they were coming back into the house. They weren’t, so she walked in and over to the drawers she thought had what she was looking for. She grabbed the handle and started opening it but it wouldn’t open. She then grabbed the next handle, yanking it out, thinking that it would be jammed also. She ended up pulling the whole drawer out and it fell onto the floor making a loud noise. She put her hands on her forehead and looked down onto the floor seeing a chef’s knife. Slowly kneeled down she picked it up, looking at it. She turned around looking towards the opening to come into the kitchen to see if anyone was coming.

Continuing Chapter 28

Seeing that no one was coming she put the knife down and quickly picked everything that fell out of the drawer back into it. She picked up the drawer and put it back into the cabinet. Then she picked up the knife and walked out of the kitchen keeping it close to her side going back to the table. Sitting back down, she moved the chair as close as possible, with out hurting herself, to the table and set the knife across her lap, carefully, holding on the handle with her left hand so it wouldn’t fall off her lap or cut herself. She then put a napkin over the knife and her hand so they wouldn’t see it. After she did that she looked into the living room and just as she did they walked back into the house and up the small steps coming into the dinning room, “I’ll stay here with Sam. I want to talk to her actually” Talinda said and then Chester and Rob walked away probably into the kitchen and Talinda sat down.

“I don’t know if you want to hear me but I’m going to talk anyways. I understand why you don’t want to trust me Sam. I wouldn’t if I were you. I just hope that you can forgive me for getting upset with you, with what happen between you and my father” Talinda paused “I had always thought that my father would always be my hero but I guess that he wasn’t as perfect and honorable as I thought he was”

“They never are” she said not looking at her

“I guess you do want to listen to me” Talinda said pausing again, “I loved my dad because he always made time for me, and we would do so many great things together. We would go bike riding and we'd go to the movies and we were always laughing and teasing each other. Of course you know all this because I told you when we were best friends. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I didn't want to believe that my father could be weak and wrong. And there's a chance that maybe I misunderstood certain things that he did.” Sam closed her eyes wanting to block out Talinda talking about her father, ‘Spare me. You believed what you wanted to believe.’ she thought when she opened her eyes, “And that Rob was right. I blamed you for throwing yourself at him but you didn’t and my father was the adult and he should have known better.” ‘Right. You think I'm suddenly going to forgive you?’ she thought to herself again as Talinda got up and walked over to the railing and turned around “This is going to take some time for me to process and to forgive some people -- you and my father and myself. But there's one thing that I know for certain -- I'm sorry. I am truly sorry for everything, Sam. And I know it'll take years for you to believe, but I'm hoping that you will someday.” ‘You think you're sorry now? Just wait.’ she thought as Talinda walked up closer to her “You've been through a lot of trauma. But you're a survivor. You'll be ok.” she said.

“Stop!” she said putting her free hand on her forehead.

“Okay” Talinda said walking a little further away from her. She turned around so that her back was facing her, “I don't know if you can hear me, Sam, I don't know if you even want to, but I owe you. I'm partially responsible for your pain and I want to make up for it.” ‘You will. I'm going to make sure of it.’ she thought, ‘And I have news for you Sandra, no ones going to miss you when your gone, especially your baby’ she kept thinking to herself. Talinda kept talking but Sam didn’t hear anything she was saying. Sam took the napkin and moved the knife off her lap still holding it. She slowly got up and slowly walked up to Talinda sticking the knife out, moving it to her right hand. Raising it over her head, Talinda turned around quickly and grabbed her arms.

“You don’t want to do this” she said using all her strength to push her back.

“I have no choice” Sam said trying to push forward.

“Come on, Sam. I don't want to hurt you.” she said still holding her arms moving in a circle with her so that Sam was now in front of the railing.

“You're not going to hurt me or my kids or destroy my family” Sam said trying to push the knife close to her. Then she yanked her arms out from Talinda's hold cutting her arm as she let out a yelp. Talinda looked down at her arm to see the cut and then looked back up at Sam stepping back.

“I don't want to destroy anything, Sam.” she said taking more steps back.

“You’ve been after me for months. You came back pregnant and shoved it in my face. Telling me that you still have a part of Chester with you, well you know what ***** I’m not going to take it anymore.”

“What are you talking about? This baby isn’t Chester’s. It’s my dead husband’s” she said.

“Ha, married? Yeah right. You could never get a guy in high school. So don’t go playing that bullshit on me” Sam said walking closer to her as the both of them move in a circle.

“I met him in college”

“That’s a likely story” she said.

“Come on Sam, you don’t want to hurt me. Let me help you. We can work this out” Talinda said.

“Are you kidding me” Sam laughed “That was a trick Sandra you don’t want to help. All you want to do is lock me up and throw away the key” she said

“Come on, I would never hurt you or your family, especially your son.”

“You already have” she said taking smaller steps towards her getting closer to her.

“Come on, Draven loves you. He’s a part of you, you and Chester together. They both love you.” Talinda said. Sam thought about them slowly lowering her arms. Taking her chances, Talinda went and grabbed her arm with the knife bending it down. Sam’s arm started hurting from the way her arm was being bent that she let go of the knife. When she dropped the knife, Talinda let go of Sam’s arm and went to grab the knife but Sam quickly got up grabbing a candle holder off the dinning table. She turned around as Talinda was getting up and hit her over the head. Talinda let out another yelp, grabbing her head as she hit the floor cold.

Once Talinda hit the floor Sam looked down on the floor and saw the knife right next to her. She bent down and picked it up, looking down at Talinda and back at the knife. Then she walked around her and got down on her knees.

“You want my family. You snuck into my life and turned them all against me. I won't let you destroy my family. I have to protect them. I have to protect them. I have -- I have to -- I have to protect them” she said then lifted her arms. She was about to stab her right then and there but she stopped in mid air when something came to her…

(Flashback)

“What are you doing this summer?” Sam asked Sandra when they were at her house.

“My family and I are going to Tucson. I’m was hoping to ask my mom if you could come with me”

“Did you?” she asked.

“My dad said no when I asked her”

“That sucks” she said when they heard a knock on Sandra’s door.

“Hi girls” Mrs. Grace said when she came in, “Samantha are you going to stay over tonight? It’s Friday.”

“Yes I am Mrs. Grace.”

“Call me Melinda” she said.

“Mom? Is dad here?” Sandra asked.

“Nope he’s away on a business trip and you know what that means right?” she asked both of them.

“Party time!” Both girls said laughing.

(End of Flashback)

Remembering the fun times Sam had with Sandra, she looked down at her on the floor knocked out seeing that she was a different person now, “I’m sorry but you leave me no choice” she said striking her arm down fast.

Chapter 29

Thanks Sebby and xeviane for the reviews.

******

“Did you hear that?” Chester asked Rob.

“Hear what? I didn’t hear anything” he said looking at him, “So you’re going to do it? You’re really going to send her there?”

“Yeah, I have no choice. She’s getting worse. It’s only a matter of time before she hurts someone or worse herself. So later tonight me and Lily are going to check the place out” he said when he looked behind Rob and saw Sam slowly coming into the room. She leaned against the wall and it looked like she was holding something in her hand. Chester looked down and saw it was a knife that had blood on the tip, so he walked slowly up to her, “Sam?”

“I'm sorry. I'm so sorry” she said.

“What happened?” he asked her.

“It’s Talinda.”

“Give me the knife” he said and turned around seeing Rob next to him. He let him go ahead to check on Talinda. Chester slightly moved Sam back so that he could see what she did, “How is she, Rob?” he called out to him seeing that Talinda was laying on the floor out cold with Rob next to her.

“She's got a pulse” he said.

“I couldn't stop. I'm sorry.”

“Come here, come here” he said moving his arm to get the knife but she turned so he held onto her side, “Give me the knife” he said to her.

“No --”

“Give me the knife” he said again.

“I know -- I know I shouldn’t, but I -- I --”

“Come on.”

“I tried” she said as he got the knife from her.

“It's all right now.”

“She wants to destroy our family. I -- I can't protect you. I just -- Draven” she said moving her hand up to touch his face.

“Listen to me, listen to me. There's no need to protect. I am safe, Draven safe. Were all safe, okay?” he said to her.

“Chester, she's after us.”

“You did real good. You did real good” he said trying calm her down.

“It's my fault. It's all my fault. It's all my fault” she kept saying.

“No, no” he said as he pulled her into his arms. Once she calmed down he let go of her and walked her over to the table, seeing Talinda sitting up holding her head with Rob still sitting next to her. Sitting Sam down on one of the chairs, he kneeled down next to Talinda and handed Rob the knife he took from Sam.

“She tried to kill me. I fought her off, but it was close. Chester, she needs help. She needs to be committed.”

“Hey, what is she talking about?” Sam asked.

“It's -- you just need to just rest for a second, ok?” he said looking at her.

“Don't turn your back on her.”

“I'm not turning my back, I'm right here. You see that?” he said still looking at her and then back to Talinda.

“One minute I’m talking to her and I turn my back for a second, and the next she's got a knife to my back. I tried to talk her down, but then she knocks me unconscious. If you guys hadn't gotten here --”

“We didn’t come out here, she came to us” he said seeing her shocked face that Sam couldn‘t after all bring herself to kill Talinda, “Sam’s had plenty of chances to kill you, she didn't do it.”

“I know you want to believe that --” she started to say but he cut her off.

“What's there to believe? You're alive” he said.

“She's dangerous.”

“What is she saying?” Sam asked Chester.

“Uh -- Sam, seriously, I'm ok” he said looking over his shoulder to see her.

“Chester --”

“What?” he asked.

“She's trying to kill us”

“Talinda's not going to kill anyone, okay?” he said turning back to look at Talinda.

“Chester, Sam really needs help!” she said.

“I know and I’m going to do what we talked about.”

“You can’t wait until later. You need to commit her now!”

“I know that! I’m going to check out the place tonight with her mother” he said getting upset.

“Lily’s willing to put her daughter in a mental hospital?” she asked him.

“Yes. She knows Sam needs more help than I could give her.”

“Rob! Watch out!” Talinda shouted and Chester turned his head around quickly seeing Sam with another knife in her hand. She stopped in mid air with the knife and looked at Rob with wide eyes.

“Rob? Oh, *** -- oh, *** I’m sorry -- I’m so sorry” she said as Chester got up and she put her arm down still holding the knife in her hand.

“Sam? What’s wrong now? Why did you want to kill Rob?” he asked her.

“I thought -- I thought I saw. I thought I saw Talinda’s father he -- he wants to -- he wants to hurt me Chester. Oh, *** I’m a bad person…I‘m a bad person” she said moving the knife while she held up her other arm and was about to cut it. Chester grabbed the knife and her arm with his other hand before she could do it and looked at her.

“Sam -- Sam your not a bad person. I’m going to help you as much as I can, okay?” he said holding in the pain from his hand since the knife he was holding was digging into his hand, “Sam, your hurting me” he said not being able to hold in the pain anymore. He saw her look down at his hand.

“Oh, *** -- oh, ***. Your bleeding! I made -- I made you cut yourself” she said letting go of the knife as he still held it. Taking his other hand off her arm he held onto the handle of the knife and moved it out of the cut. He squeezed his hand close tightly to stop the blood from coming out.

“Chester are you okay?” Talinda asked standing up now.

“Yeah, it’s just a little cut” he said looking at her.

“A little cut? Chester, your blood is on the carpet” she said, “Let me get something to clean it up.”

“It's all in the bathroom” he said not moving from where he was at as he looked at Talinda. She went over to the bathroom as he looked back at Sam. Something in her eyes didn’t look right. He looked down at his other hand and saw that he was still holding the knife. He then looked back at Sam and she quickly moved toward him. Moving fast, he put the knife on the table and quickly grabbed her shoulders not caring if his cut hand was hurting and still bleeding, “Sam it's me! You don’t want to hurt me”

“No! Don‘t touch me!” she said trying to get out of his hold but he wouldn't let go of her, “Get off me! Your not going to hurt me and still blame me for Sandra’s death. She's alive! You hear me? Alive! So leave me alone!” she kept saying with hate in her voice as she punched him in the chest with her right arm.

Knowing he couldn’t keep holding her like this and that he had to calm her down fast he said to her, “I’m sorry Sam for doing this” and pushed her down onto the floor knowing he could hold her better.

“Noooo! Get off me!” she cried out kicking her legs under him. She wasn’t looking at him.

“Sam! Calmed down! It’s me Chester, not Talinda’s father” he said, “Look at me!”

After he told her to look at him she turned her head, “Chester?” she said.

“Yes, it’s me Chester, not Talinda’s father” he said still holding her down to the floor. She started to cry realizing that she could have hurt him. He stayed on top of her until her cries got softer and softer. Thinking that she was calm, he slowly let go of her shoulders. Sam pushed him off of her and quickly got up off the floor running down the small steps, “Sam!” he called out to her getting up off the floor and followed her as she opened the front door running out fast.
