What weight motul for the engine and tranny?

What weight Amsoil for the engine and tranny?

Anyone heard of redline oil?

Honda blood in the trans and Honda synthetic in the motor.
Same here. A friend of mine used Honda oil in his LTR before he sold it. Anybody using Bel-Ray? Heard good things about it but never used it.

I've used all the Honda Oil you can. I now run Motul 5100 Technosynthesis 10W40 on the engine side and Motul Transoil Expert 10W40 on the Trans Side. As mentioned above, it goes in green and comes out green. Honda oil goes in brownish comes out black with bits and pieces in it. The HUGE noticeable difference is on the trans side. I can get Motul for $7/Litre here. It retails at $13/Litre.

If you find that Rotella works for you that's fine. I'm not gonna bash on that. However, I switched from Rotella to Quakerstate in my car and there was a noticeable difference upon pulling the drain plug. Yeah you pay more, but I'd rather have my engine last longer and run better. If I can find a product that does that for me I'll use it.

I've never ran Amsoil, solely based on the fact that I read ONE magazine ad and said to myself "sounds like a sales scam."

And to touch on the Lucas and other Additives, after working in Automotive for a brief period and the **** I heard, I don't think I'll ever use an oil additive or a Lucas product again. Mind you, if I had worn out rings and was about to sell a vehicle and I didn't like the stupid look on your face.. Lucas 80W90 down the intake it is! Hahaha.

quakerstate is more expensive than rotella? i thought quaker state was about as cheap as it gets. what was the noticeable difference? the oil was less broke down when you used quaker state? are you comparing synthetic to non synthetic or what? i've yet to find an oil that looks as good as rotella does when it's coming out for a change.

I didn't use QS in my quad if you read my post.

And I'm compared Quakerstate in the gold bottle (can't remember the name of their synthetic) to Rotella 5W20 Mineral. QS breaks down less in my experience.

I'm always late to the oil discussion. Heres my take on it. Use whatever makes you warm and fuzzy. lol I was sponsored by Motul last year, so I mainly still use my left over stock that I have left. Only on my engine side thou. As for Rotella white bottle, I have had some ****** luck with the stuff with my old YFZ450. I had a assload of metal shavings in my engine. Swapped it out with Motul, shavings went away. Tried it again with Rotella, metal shavings came back. It ended up being my clutch basket. Rotella might not had anything to do with it,but that was the oil being used when the metal shavings were found both times. But...... I really do like the Rotella Synthetic blue bottle, and thats what I run in my tranny side and thats what I only run in my KTM 450XC.

Once I deplete my Motul oil, Im gonna run it on the Honda engine side also.

not sure where your metal came from but we know it wasn't the rotella, that stuff protects very well. Far as the blue bottle, i prefer NOT to run synthetic in my trans, so as you said run whatever makes you warm and fuzzy, and i know it doesn't have moly in it but i still don't run synthetic in my tranny's.

If you're clutch baskets was shredding, do you think it was the rotella causing this or do you think it was poor assembly or possible improper disc installing?

I recently ran the honda red tranny for one change and i personally like that stuff, but for the price i'm going to stick to the rotella white bottle in both sides. It's a quality oil. I considered running the blue bottle on the motor side, but just haven't done that yet.

The verdict is in! The low down is, use whatever brand you prefer. But you must change it often. All oil will breakdown over time.

Rotella is cheap and very good, to change out frequently. You can use ATF in the tranny side. Cheap and inexpensive also. :smokin:

I don't think K&N makes a reusable oil filter.. Was it stainless steel or the same look as their air filters?

maybe it wasn't a k&n, but yeah it was stainless steel. I honestly never put it back in, i still have if somebody wants it.

It moreless will boil down to the engine and tranny itself and what it has for mods. As for me, my YFZ450 ran a Rekluse. Rekluse was spot on according to Rekluse specs. All the fibers were within specs also. But I had a **** load of shavings from the clutch basket when I used the white bottle Rotella. Like I said in the prior post, might have nothing to do with it. lol Im gonna do a oil a oil sample soon with Rotella and other oils and send it off to the lab. Im interested what the results will be.

I think the brand of filter you have ridingred is ProFlo. I could be wrong but I think that's the only brand that makes them. I don't trust them either. I mean yeah you look at it, it looks like a filter. You can clean em with varsol so as long as the user cleans it properly it should do it's job like any other filter. However, if their are filings, I'd like to throw the filings in the garbage and not chance have those same filings flow into my new oil. So I'm with you on throwing them out haha. Plus they are 3x the price of a normal oil filter!
