I'm really wasn't surprised to get this response from someone from Minnesota.
Not to belittle you but, I'm sorry, I was a Boy Scout, and even before that, I was taught to respect the flag, the pledge and the anthem. Long before 9/11 and long before knowing that it was actually set in US code that you show respect and reverence to the flag.
I had a grandfather who was a POW in Germany, my father, *** rest his soul, and his twin brother were soldiers in Vietnam. My grandfather was involved in both the VFW and American Legion until his death and my uncle, even though the Vietnam War may have been for less than honorable reasons, he is still to this day actively invloved in the American Legion and Memorial Day ceremonies.
No matter what is going on in the current political or international realm, in my opinion, there is no excuse for showing disrespect or lack of respect for the flag and those who died to make it what it is to represent.
I just think it's funny something like that needs to be legislated with a code.. respect is for people, not inanimate objects.. Can't teach, or especially, demand respect .. IMO
Leviticus 26:1
“You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the Lord your ***.
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under ***, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
How about...
I pledge allegience to the truth of The United States of America, and to the plutocracy for which it stands, one nation under ***, completely divided among economic, racial, and religious lines, without liberty and justice for all.
Now I ask, which holds more truth? Saying something does not make it so...
