I was wonderin which bands can we most relate to LP's new album musicwise. After listening to Qwerty on LPU6 the studio version i think we can mostly relate it to a mix of Hoobastank and Deftones. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't go that far. Unfortunately a lot of their songs sound similar. Which has always been one of their biggest short comings in my opinion. I'm sure they have various influences for which they draw from. Don't really know how the new album can be judged until it comes out. If QWERTY and ASP (haven't heard this one yet) aren't going to be on it then well we really can't make any assertions until we hear songs that will be on the album. But last time I check it was going to be classic rock, punk rock, with hip hop beats correct? If that's so they can may bare some resemblance to some punk bands.

Yeah I have if you have noticed I have said there new album will flop for the last like 2 years.

Nu-metal died somewhere in '04-'05 maybe even late '03.

Yeah I think it may as well. Reasons being..

1) A lot of their old fans who bought Hybrid Theory and Meteora have grown up and may listen to something else.

2) People who in the age range that their old fans were in may not know who they are. They aren't exactly the most recongizable name anymore like they were back when the One Step Closer single came out. Everybody has their hair fringe to cover one eye and is talking about My Chemical Romance and well you get where I'm going. The whole emo subculture movement is the big thing now and Linkin Park may not fit well into that. Or maybe they will who knows. But kids these days who don't really do research and just listen to what's on the radio and what's mainstream chances are they may not know who they are. Or just say something like "well my older brother use to listen to them before but I don't really know who they are. I mean material wise they're a bit ancient now.

I think LP would sound like "New and Improved LP" i mean it's not like they're gonna suddenly turn into another band. Bands can develope their style as they go on, but i don't think that LP would radically change the style that they've went with for so long. Some fans i know are expecting too much of a change from them... which i can't guarantee that they won't have, but to substancially change into a totally NEW style, i'd not think much of.

But what i'm thinking about the most is their lyrics. What i love about LP the most, exeeding their sound, is their lyrics, how they actually have meaning. Even the rapping parts, unlike some artists who would just cuss the way through about how ****** their life is. And i wonder if that would change. Before, some dude asked them whether they're gonna give us a happy love song :p Brad was like "'Yeah! I keep asking (Chester and Mike), when are we going to lighten up? No one would give me an answer!" But if they really release some sappy love song, i'd flip... :) so but hopefully they won't

Linkin Park isn't the first band to radically change their style. Bands do it all the time. They even said it themselves they're dropping the whole Nu Metal sound.

First thing I have read they you put that I totally agree with

You must realise lot of bands say they will change drastically and don't and I think LP won't change radically, and no one wants to be called nu-metal so of course they are gonna say they are dropping the sound, but I doubt it. I am more worried actually of it sounding to much like HT or Meteroa, but then again "Qwerty" was quite different and I liked it. None of us really know but I personally think it will sound nu-metal still.

i think that the new album itself wont be entirely different. theyll keep whats been successful for them but add things which change things around like new intros, instruemtnals, sounds, beats and what not.

regardless of the "emo" subculture where guys grow their hair out over their eyes, they still dont sell much. they sell roughly 1 million copies and thas called success. p!atd being an example, altho they are currently the teeny boppers best frend, theyve sold only 1.3 million albums. hopefully watever LP serve up will be something that brings the old fans back, yet manages to entice new fans, bcoz that is wat essentially what a new-ish style is spose to do,aim at a wider breach of audience.
