I'm not debating whether or not Linkin Park's new album will be good or not. I'm saying that nu metal is a difficult genre to define so it's a lot easier to put all the mainstream rock bands that are popular mostly with "mallgoths and scene emo kids" under the mallcore label because it makes things more simple.

Well in my opinion mallcore would be bands like:Linkin Park

Disturbed

KoRn

Mudayne

Papa Roach

Limp Bitzkit

Evanescence

My Chemical Romance

Lamb of ***

Slipknot

Good Charlotte

Fall Out Boy

Taking Back Sunday

I think you see where I'm going...

Basically derivative bands of Heavy Metal (Nu Metal/Metalcore) that don't fit into the extreme metal genres and are extremely popular and appeal to a mainstream audience. Pop/Punk being popified mainstream version of punk rock and doesn't really fit into that genre. So that's my take on it.
I don't think Lamb Of *** really fits in there...

I also think Emo should have there own thing (MCR and GC for example)

I understand where you're coming from. I threw in Lamb of *** because they're an example of Metalcore that people think of as metal. I guess if you want to split it up you can. Then the pop punk/pseudo emo side like My Chemical Romance and Good Charlotte would be viewed as mall punk. I just put it all together to make it more simple. However the mallcore term was really made for bands like Slipknot and KoRn to go under. You could probably also Marilyn Manson due to his mainstream popularity with mallgoths and such.
