Why do people hate LP so much?

I've been wondering this for a long time, and I really just need to vent if that's okay. Really I don't know why I'm posting this, asking why people hate Linkin Park so much, which is dumb because I'm on a message board where everyone loves Linkin Park. Anway...I've been debating about where to put this thread and I guess I was right by putting in Linkin Park Central because it basically is about Linkin Park, but what I've really wanted to say...

I recently "discovered" Korn and how good they are, and when I went to the official Korn message board (where I am also Katey) I discovered that a lot of people hate Linkin Park! I had no idea how much, but people really hate them just because they're not "hard-core." That's really dumb, because first of all, they put bands like AFI, The Used, and Led Zeppelin, also not very hard core. But they only say "Ohh they're so not hard-core" things about Linkin Park, and I think it's because they think Linkin Park is trying to be. Linkin Park is not trying to be anything really except what they are. As a band I think Linkin Park is really misjudged and overlooked. If people actually listened to them, not as "just some rock band that's not hard-core", but as Linkin Park, I think more people would be fans. On a Slipknot forum, somebody put (under the worst bands thread); 'Linkin Park (Words cannot even describe my hate for these *******.)'. Woah. Intence. It makes me really mad and when that happens I really just want to start dissing that band!! Like on the Korn message board, somebody said that Linkin Park over uses their songs too much, like having Live In Texas, where they're the same songs except for there's "screaming idiots in the background." And "Reanimation" where they're just remixes. Okay, need I remind you that Korn just released a greatest hits album, in which I bought, that has THE SAME SONGS ON IT. Plus, with it comes a DVD, live at cbgb, which is again THE SAME SONGS, EXCEPT WITH SCREAMING IDIOTS IN THE BACKGROUND. I like Korn and in no way am trying to dis them or anything. Another thing I hate is when people think that LP sucks now just because they did a collaboration with Jay-z. Sure, we all know it wasn't the best, but LP didn't change. They're music is still the same, people! And they need to accept that there's other type of music in the world, and LP at least knows that. I wish people would stop seeing Linkin Park as "posers" or saying "oh yeah they did a collaboration with jay-z, now they're not cool." It totally bugs the heck out of me. LISTEN TO THE MUSIC PEOPLE!! Not liking the music, I can understand, (well not really since i love the **** out of it), but not liking lp because they're not hard core or because they did a collaboration with jay-z? That's just stupid....

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest and out of my head.... ;)

Everything that people like will always have haters. Wether it's a band like Linkin Park, a movie star or a sports phenom like LeBron James, there will always be haters. Just hafta deal with it.

I defenitly agree with you. My sis goes to the Good Charlotte boards and Avril Lavinge boards all the time. They talk a lot of **** on Linkin Park which really makes me mad. I went to the boards and made an account just to curse them all out.. lol.. go me! But anyway, what I think is why they dont think they are hard-core is probably cuz their style in clothing. Like if you look at most of those bands, they dress really scary. But when you look at LP they wear normal clothes like you and me.

That my opinion

But I agree with you!

For one thing, LP does not try to be hard-core. Their type of music is unique. That's what they wanted. When Mike first thought up the concept for the band (way back when he first wanted to make any sort of band), his plan was to mix up and make something totally different. LP doesn't try to be metal or rap or punk or anything. They're just LP. And about doing a thing with Jay-Z....LP is part rap. It's not typical rap cause the lyrics are different. But still, it was a good project. I wasn't thrilled about it, but that's not reason to dis LP.

The 'hard-core' thing is very stupid. I mean, sorry Korn fans, but how can you all say that Korn is hard-core? I mean, the lead guitarist did walk out on the group. Obviously it wasn't hard-core enough to keep him there.

I don't like hard-core music because it tries to take over your life, and it can warp your opinions. Because LP isn't hardcore is one of the reasons our site has so much diversity, which is awesome. It keeps us from talking smack about other groups, which in the end is just better for everyone.

Critics will be critics, weather its a bunch of 'hardcores' or some whiny reviewer from the University of Oregon. :p

I think the reason some people don't like LINKIN PARK is b/c of the diversity. Most people like their music to be "one" thing. LP is a mix of a lot of stuff and people don't like that kind of diversity in their music. That's the reason I love them so much. They have so much diversity that it's like listening to every genre of music at one time. Lp is the total package in my opinion. Katey, you have every right to get that off your chest and I agree with you. :)

I honestly don't know why you let things like this get to you.. lol.. its their views...I think its funny..because I bet some of them who talk **** really listen to LP anyway..so instead of makin a thread about how much this makes you mad just laugh it off..so what they hate LP..who cares as long as you like them..

If LP would try to be more hardcore to impress some people who don't like them, it would be for the worse. The music would be too forced to be good. If people don't like LP, then they should just ignore LP instead of talking about them all the time. That's a pretty weird perspective to me.

lol when i first started liking lp i always used to wonder why people never accepted them. i guess some people are just afraid when people show emotion or their opinion rather then the tradtional *** drugs and rock and roll speech.

I know how you feel Katey. I used to go to this forum that was about music in general, EVERYTIME I would mention LP, tons of people would have to tell me how much they suck. They suck cause they're emo. WTF? What's wrong with emo? They suck because they have a DJ. Yeah ok, whatever. They aren't hardcore enough. Who gives a **** how hardcore they are? Who says all rock music has to be hardcore?

All of this wouldn't bother me so much, the thing that would **** me off is that people who DON'T EVEN LIKE LP would come to my thread about LP just to tell me how much they suck. Why would they even bother? If they don't like LP, they don't need to post on a LP thread, it's that simple. They can have thier opinions about LP, that's fine, I don't think everybody has to like them. But why do they have to try to make me feel bad for liking them? Man people can be so stupid.

FYI, Head left Korn due to personal issues. Mainly an addiction to meth, and his recent conversion to Christianity. And as much as I love LP, Korn will always be 'hard core' to me. They're my first love, to the point that I have 'Korn' tattooed on my back.

I can only speak for some of the Korn fans on the Korn boards when I say that they're of the opinion that bands like Limp Bizkit and LP wouldn't have gotten their break in the music business if it hadn't been for Korn's opening the doors to them.

We also can't forget that there are a lot people who also like them too. They may be afraid to admit it but it is the truth. Linkin Park will always be rememeber for their style and one day will become in my opinion a band no one will forget. Its true most people can't accpet different forms of music put together of by themselves. And Linkin Park doesn't really care what people think that's only pushing them to do more with their work. And I'm really proud about that. They are the next band to stay in history in my opinion. So don't let others worry them about their opinion just cuss them out and move on with your life.

after i read ur message Katey i did the same thing, but it was only becuz i felt very angry at those people and it was a minute rage, but i know very well i was wrong. in fact there a lot of bands i hate like f.e. HIM or the Rasmus that i'd prefer not to see anywhere anymore, but the truth is that if noone hated Linkin Park, they'd have all the rights to think the're perfect and there's nothing more to work on. but it's actually other rock bands & crowds of haters who make Linkin Park work harder to become better & make us know that their worth our love! i'm sorry if someone disagrees with me, but i really think such haters are one of the big reasons why my fave Linkin Park still exist!
