Man I am sorry to hear that!!! Thats gotta suck. But hey at least you have an excuse to rebuild. Good luck and I hope you get back riding soon.
It's going to the machine shop this week, I'm just disappointed the motor didn't last at least a year. Do you guys have any ideas for a build, I'm not going for a big bore setup, it needs to be nasty and reliable at the same time.

Toasted the motor on the quad, it looks like something in the bottom end, lower rod bearing most likely, I guess it's time to build it, I'm thinking stock crank, Carrillo rod, cp piston, stage 2 cam with a nice intake system, I want it reliable. But still real snotty. Any other ideas out there?
get the oem crank, you can run oem rod. ill be good for eaasy 55 whp .. but get a cp piston. 12:5.(i can get you a great deal on it) you can get a head work while its open. get all the damage berings oem. you dont need the carrillo rod unless your planing on strocking it. btw its a good idea instead of boring it..

keep us posted.

and guys remember that if POSSIBLE drop some deposit so i can pay for the room entirely so well have a room for sure for the race...

11days to go for the Baja 1000...

Alright guys I just about have our Baja race all broken down with all the logistics. I'll be forwarding it all to you to review and make changes. Please feel free to give your suggestions and advice. I have been trying to post the updates here but for some reason it wont let me. It takes forever and times out.

I also got my FLEXX handle bars installed today. WOW!!!! what a difference it makes. After 50 miles on my old bars my arms were pretty sore. Today after our 50 mile ride they felt great and I was ready for more. Mamito, that may be something to consider putting on your bike for the 500. My thought is, if we can add something that is going to help us not get as tired or improve the bike, why not? I am in no way saying to do it. Just a suggestion.

Enjoy your time in Baja and we look forward to hearing about your trip. Hope all goes well!!

Are you going to convert your bike to a twist throttle? I have just installed mine now all I need is a motor.

I am not sure. I know I probably should. If I do it now, I can get a couple races under my belt with it. What twist did you go with? and where did you get it?

Thanks man!!! Still not big on the twist throttle but I know I need to feel comfortable with it for the BAJA.

this is the main man in Score for quads and bikes..

Bill' date=' luckily you have guys like me in your corner to tackle these motorcycle specific issues.[/color']
This has been a topic of discussion for the past 2 weeks. SCORE planned on using a ram type solid mount for the motorcycles/ quads. As soon as I saw the proposed mount, I immediately explained why it wouldn't work.

The most logical and easy solution came to us from Bob Bell team THR Kawasaki- Bob's solution is to insert the spot tracker in a soft case - think digital camera case with padding all around- and this zippered pouch can easily be zip tied/ bolted to the upper triple clamp/ in front of the bar mounts/ headlight area somewhere. I went to best buy and found the perfect pouch and recommended that SCORE use these for the motorcycle/ quad teams.

Just today tech director Jake sent me a text saying that he has ordered these pouches for all the bike teams.

So, final answer seems to be this: on every vehicle there will be 3 devices:

1. spot tracker-- mounted in a soft digital camera type pouch up around the handlebar area - or backpack (lowepro is the manuf Geneva 10 is the model )

2. Data recorder - mounted in a clear plastic otter box - almost identical to the past few years- the box is only 1/2 inch deeper and wider- this can be mounted down on the engine, or wherever you would like

3. the scoring device- thin blue plastic unit that starts and stops the elapsed time. This unit fits in the groove on top of the front fender, or zip tied to one of the fork tubes.

Hopefully someday all of these devices can be all-in-one- unit- until then, this is what we have to deal with.....[/QUOTE]

thank you for taking your time to help us the ¨poor¨ riders the handlebar class... im asuming this will be used for the next 500... ill repost this info on other sites... thanks

Here is the pouch we have used since 2007 with Spot1 and Spot2. It's a vinyl camera case from Case Logic, sold for $12 at CVS, Office Depot, Staples, lotsa places. It has a soft vinyl top which the Spot antenna has no problem transmitting/receiving through. Make sure the Spot is inserted correctly, outward and with antenna "up." We've used this set-up on the bike forks, behind number plate, and racer's backpack. There are a TON of alternative pouches - this is the better way to go for the Spot3 tracker. I like this particular pouch because it has a thick strap in the back for fastening, plus the caribiner comes with it as a tether.

I went with the streamline twist throttle with the stainless braided cable and a set of tag grips.

Ok guys a pretty much destroyed the bottom end. It needs a crank,a rod, a piston, and a cylinder. Along with all new bearings and seals and an oil pump. Anybody have any input on my parts selection. I just want to build as bullet proof of a motor as I can. Baja is coming up and I don't need headaches. Thanks boys

weird, its pretty much a new quad, or it was.. lol

Bering and cylinder oem from immortalatv or service honda. i think http://www.partzilla.com/ migth be the cheapest..

get as much oem as you can.. crank oem, rod oem or CP, piston CP, cylinder oem

im still waiting on the reply from my guy in Team Alba for the CP prices.. they are so busy with the Baja 1000 that we need to wait for a lil..

doublé check the cases , wehre the berings go to ensure that they are ok. that cost me another repair..

Ok here's my build up. More port work, 100mm big bore cylinder with a cp piston, oem crank. The clutch looks great it's a stocker, I'm doing heavier springs though. All new bearings, seals, and gaskets. And we are going to do some valve work also depending on how the seats and everything look upon disassembly, so most likely some kibblewhite goodies.. Yeah man I should be back on the quad by next weekend hopefully. I ordered all of the rest of the parts today. I'm at around 1000.00 in parts so far. It's good to be the snap-on guy, all my guys getting me parts and doing the labor all love tools, so it's mostly a big trade off so cost for cost I'm looking around 1400 for a total build. Out of pocket
