Myself, since I'm usually here every day anyway moderating posts, I like to keep GF setup so that older threads aren't shown, and private messages are delivered quicker. I'd like to share this info with some of you so that you may customize GF the way you like. Before I get to the options, I would like to remind you to ENABLE pop-ups for this website if you are using a pop up blocker program. GF DOES NOT HAVE ANY ADS !!! But using pop-ups prompts, does make things go smoother. If you are getting advertisment pop-ups, then you have SPYWARE in your computer. IMAGE 1. Here you will see I circled the User CP, or USER CONTROL PANEL. You will need to click this button to enter the setup options for GF. Next in this image you will see a box around the "CONTROL PANEL" and a box around the "USE INVISIBLE MODE" The control panel is there for you to tell a little bit about yourself, truths, lies, 1/2 truths, no matter, but it is there. The box for "USE INVISIBLE MODE" makes you appear offline to other members. Very useful if you don't want to be bothered by fellow members while browsing and responding to posts. Check this box and make yourself invisible !! Keep in mind, MODERATORS however, CAN see you regardless. Image 2. Here we have the E-mail and private message settings. ALWAYS leave this checked to allow E-mail from administrators, if you DO NOT do this, you will be BANNED. We just want to keep a line of communication open to our members in case any issues arise. I do realize some of you will enter FAKE E-mail addresses, and that is fine, its a free country, but at least make an effort on GF to always keep some form of communication open. If you are tossed into the "idiot box" your PRIVATE MESSAGE ability is also taken away. So our only way of contacting a member as to WHOM requested they be tossed in, and for what extent, can only be done VIA E-mail. You can however uncheck the "RECEIVE E-MAIL FROM OTHER MEMBERS box if you like. On the bottom of image 2 is the default options for private messaging, you can TURN OFF PRIVATE MESSAGING here, but again, we ask that you DON'T do this. If a member is causing problems for you in private messages, we ask you just put them on ignore instead. Image 3. Here, we have the standard user private message box, At the bottom you'll see it say "SAVE A COPY OF THIS MESSAGE TO YOUR SENT ITEMS FOLDER" with a CHECK MARK beside it, UNCHECK THIS BEFORE SENDING A PRIVATE MESSAGE !! Then, when you get the pop up message that says "REQUEST A READ RECIEPT FOR THIS MESSAGE ?", just click "CANCEL" instead of "OK". Clicking CANCEL does NOT stop your message from being sent, it just tells the system "NO READ RECIEPT NEEDED" .This will speed up things on the recipients end as well, they will not need to click an extra button to confirm they received your message. This makes your messages a SEMI-INSTANT message system doing it this way. Image 4. Here you can see a very optimal setup for viewing posts if your a regular member, I set mine for 2 days since that will probably be the longest gap away from GF for me, this allows me to see only posts that have been posted in that time frame without having to scroll through a bunch of older ones, some may prefer to set this for a week, some for last 24 hours. I'd only advise changing these settings if your a fairly regular visitor. Also in this box you can TURN OFF pictures if they get to be to offensive to you, as well as other things like viewing signatures, and member avatars. VERY USEFULL for those who are on an ancient dial up connection and live in trailor houses in the boonys somewhere. Or on welfare and can't afford high speed access. Image 5. Here you can see the result of only showing threads that are 2 days old or less. ALOT easier to navigate since you don't need to see things you have already read. That is actually pretty true. While its not a BAD THING per say that they just quote the Qu'ran, its actually kind of a shame. MUSLIMS should be able to have there own such inner thoughts on something like this, its one of the things about the Qu'ran that I don't like... its spelled out too exact for some and leaves no room for interpretations in ones mind. Its this type of freedom that seperates a MUSLIM from alot of the world.... there inability to show there OWN personal opinion, not one that they were taught in a book. Its the teachings in the BOOK OF CHRISTIANITY that influence alot of our laws in America...although this influence AWAY from the book, makes up the more sensible laws.
