Huh? Where's the money come from? By selling, that's how.. Mutual funds are baskets of stocks.. some more conservative with a mix of stocks and bonds, some with all bonds. Some hold real estate, some hold gold and other precious metals etc.. stewards of these don't have their value in cash. They can and do lose value. Specially when everyone is gonna wanna cash out to retire and move into mostly bonds and other more conservative investments. You always need a bigger sucker willing to pay more for a share in order to make money. Eventually the biggest suckers will be standing there holding the bag with no one to sell em to cept the "movers and shakers" for pennies on the dollar.. Our once bustling, thriving downtown full of locally owned shops is now a ghost town full of empty buildings. All the towns money leaves the town never to be seen again.
