You can't live your life trying not to hurt someone's feelings at the exception of living your own life. You agreed to go before you knew the other family was not invited, don't beat yourself up about it. What I would do is start planning a series of great parties at the other families house and you might think I would say not to invite the first family but no, no, no, you must invite them. Nothing pisses people off more than people they hate showing them friendship and kindness in a public way. I would invite them in front of other people so they have to come or look like azzholes if they don't. Comments from family #2 thanking family #1 as their "good friends" should also be made. You guys can have a lot of fun with this if you want to, lol.

Sarah is not for big Government, she has been the very picture of conservative values and a lifetime of fighting establishment. Hugo is stuck on the sale of oil from Alaska to the big oil companies and the people benefitting from that sale as somehow bad. My question is, who owns the oil? Politicians in office or the people of Alaska? Politicians come and go, while the people are still there paying the price for the decisions made by those politicians. Wasn't Rand Paul connected to people with very racist attitudes and such? I believe I read something about that somewhere. His associations will bite him in the azz when running for public office. He will most likely end up in a bathroom tapping someone's foot, lol. My point about being willing to vote for Sarah is she is one of the very few honest people who has demonstrated real conservative values. Say what you want Hugo, she would never put forth legislation like the Bush amnesty attempt. The question should not be who is the most strict conservative, because we have to be able to get that person into office and there is no way that will ever happen without a certain level of popular acceptance. Obama won his election not because of his technical knowledge of government, or politics, or even science, but instead by showing a master's manipulation of public opinion. As I said before, the vast majority of independants voted for Obama, but these same independants mostly preach conservative values and smaller Government so you tell me Hugo, why did these groups vote for someone who does not represent even one of the values they normally preach about? Because even the independants are fooled by charisma. This brings to mind a quote from the movie "training day" where Alonzo says, "The sh!t's chess, it ain't checkers".

I am asking in the other thread why anyone would consider Sarah increasing what companies pay for Alaska's oil as somehow strange or excessive? Every State in America is raising taxes to the people for just about every service that Government provides. In the last few years we have seen increased gassoline taxes at the pumps, higher fees for registering our vehicles and even the fee for renewing my driver's license doubled this past September (just in time for my birthday). So with pretty much every American paying way more money than ever before, why should companies be exempt from paying more for something like a State Resource? I guess Hugo believes Alaska should be giving their oil away for free. Really this is not a tax on the oil companies, it is a sale. Alaska is selling their oil for a price, the oil companies have the choice to pay that price or not.

We did Hugo, you need to brush up on history a little bit before saying such uneducated crap. People were addicted to drugs but society was a very unforgiving thing in the "good ole" days and peopel more often than not died from their addictions instead of having a long prolonged life of abuse that our current society makes possible. Again, you obviously are only parroting liberal talking points and have no idea what your talking about. The black market is only possible if there is a need for something that is restricted that is big enough to risk the legal troubles that go with that risk. If people want it so bad they are willing to risk jail, what makes liberals believe that desire will simply go away if you remove the illegal element from it? Alcohol is legal and people abuse it millions of times a day, the same will be true of any other recreational drug that suddenly is made legal. As Snaf pointed out, Sarah did not begin the process of Alaskans all benefitting from their shared resources, so your wrong about Sarah, she certainly continued the program and even got an increase just like my taxes for everything went up, but I am curious about something: Explain how it is welfare for the people of Alaska to get a share of the profit from Alaska's resources? Here in Florida I do not pay a State income tax because my State has higher taxes on the vacation industry, this is how all Floridians get to benefit from things like Disney World being in our State. I don't consider this to be welfare but instead part of the benefits that go with the downside of having so many dumb assed northern idiots clogging up my roads when I want to go somewhere. So let's take this step by step and you tell me where you see a problem starting in the process: 1 - Alaska has a lot of oil in the ground. 2 - The people of Alaska through their State Government owns and controls access to that oil. 3 - The State negotiates with companies who want the oil to give the people of Alaska some compensation for their State resource being taken away and sold. 4 - The companies can say no if they feel the deal is not fair. 5 - The oil companies get the oil and the people of Alaska get compensated for the loss of the resource. Where do you see the problem Hugo? Do you believe a private company should get all that oil for free?

Happy B-day Joe, I hope you have a great day today!

Palin is a lot more conservative than 99% of the people currently in office. I would support her or anyone like her in a heart beat. The problem with the independants is they are too far detached from reality to ever offer a National canidate. They can have local support sure, but that is the end of their ability. Independants should be supporting real conservatives, did you know most independants supported Obama? A massive number of libertarians supported Obama, not just with votes but they were very vocal in their support of him. With independants like that, nobody will ever take them seriously on the big stage.

You have no clue as to how much drugs are kept from our streets and more importantaly, our children. A massive amounts of drugs hitting the streets without restrictions would drop the price to a level where every person and child could easily afford large doses. People would over dose and binge like never before and families who were barely holding on would be broken apart. The fantacy world some uneducated people have where legal drugs would not hurt society on the whole does not exist, sure it costs money to stop drug trafficking but it would cost 100 times more in social welfare to treat and take care of the drug addicts that would be about 30% of America should drugs be made legal. America already tops the rest of the world for lazy, unmotivated people by far, everyone in that group would abuse drugs if you made it legal, not one lazy, stupid person would refrain from drug use if there was no penalty for that use. It would be just like speeding in America, almost everyone speeds because there is no real enforcement.

I will take my no State income tax, no snow, two oceans with incredible beaches, and the best perk in the world? Al Gore hates us, and any place that he hates must be good
-
Nice, as people complain the war on drugs is a failure, they have no idea just how many drugs are kept off the streets. If even half of these drugs that get stopped instead made it to the streets for use, we would have about 50% more people on welfare or dead from overdose.

At least they can read, the average Democrat voter can't.

Ya, getting a job would be top on the list I imagine, the process took my buddy about 12 years I think between stages and going back to school. He never found anything that really kept his interest with a passion so he kept looking for more. The medical profession has so many splinters of directions you can go into that you can do a lot of different things even at the RN level. Good luck.

Actually if you include the sales to mass market retailers like Wal-Mart, Sarah sold 700,000 books in the first week. The Nielsen BookScan does not track those sales. And let's not compare Sarah to other female ploiticians like Hillary Clinton, Hillary even had a sex scandle with her husband to drive her sales. Sarah smoked even Hillary, I believe you could call that making the best sellers list, lol. I understand why Liberals would be scared of Sarah in general because she really is "of the people" while they just pretend to care about the little guy but the thing that has always surprised me is the raw anger and hate most liberal women show Sarah. You would think a smart, successful, and moral woman who has shown that you can be strong and still remain feminine in life would be admired by all women even if they did not agree with all of her political stands but that just is not the case. Every Liberal women's groups have come out against Sarah with pure attacks and even say if she would have been elected into office as the Vice-President, it would be a massive step backwards for all women around the word.... Really? A step backwards? How do they figure that? It seems to me the only way a woman is considered a "good" woman to a Liberal woman is if that first woman is willing to kill babies in the womb. Everything else does not matter from the looks of things.

Congrats on the grades and it seems like your happy at how your doing so that is what counts. What kind of nurse are you aspiring to be? A friend of mine has completed his nurse practitioner and is working hand in hand with a doctor. He loves it, but he had run the full spectrum of nursing from EMT to this with every stop inbetween and was never really happy. Although he spent more time with the new babies than any other step.

No, I chickened out, so many people were pointing out flaws fromt heir view that it derailed my own views of the image and so I decided to let some time pass before giving it a try again.

He hurt you in a physical way and you let him back in your home? Just cut ties, I would not send him messages either, just don't give him or anyone else room for discussion, just say it is over and don't even try to explain, it sounds like anyone with a brain will understand and anyone who can't understand never will no matter how hard you try to put it into words. The first time he tries to come around again I would go get a restraining order, don't play with this guy. As to the mother-in-law, to hell with her, you have no reason to bend over backwards and every reason to ask for some peace in your home and life, tell her she is welcome to be a part of your plans but "YOU" set the schedule, not her. You don't have to be rude, just be matter of fact with her and let that be it. If she attempts to argue, just refuse to talk about it, say that is the way you want it and drop it. Sounds like the father is part of the problem as well..........

I don't know about the baseball bat but I would never dance to a tune that I did not agree with. Most likely why it took so much of my life to finally find a woman who could get along with me and not try to change me. That is not to say I would not accomodate in-laws in small ways, I just would not disrupt my life just to do what they wanted and cause stress in my home. You should let them know that this is "YOUR" home and "YOUR" child, and they are welcome to join in on "YOUR" plans anytime they want. Holding the presents back that they provided would not be out of line, but I see no reason to not let your child open other gifts. The poor thing must have been frustrated as hell, finally Christmas morning and still he had to wait........ The brother-in-law is another issue, drinking the booze is not so bad but hurting your son and stealing money from you?????? If you let him in your home again your asking for trouble, I would tell him to never come back again........ever. A thief is one of the few things I have no understanding for and someone hurting your child should be universal cause for anyone to get upset. Christmas is supposed to be a time for fun, "good" family time, and a little "magic" in your life, it looks like you had little fun and they ruined the magic, you don't deserve that.

The rats deserting a sinking ship. As I was saying in the other thread, this complete disreguard for what the people want will have a negative result in the voter base, the biggest reason Obama won the election was the middle of the road voters who believed the lie of "change" in Washington. Based on the numbers I have seen on the reaction of moderate and independant voters in the last year, I will predict that any Democrat currently holding office in Washington will have a difficult time in their next elections.

The whole "absolute power corrupts absolutely" concept comes to mind, I think many of them got drunk with the idea of the power they had and forgot the ideas and promises that had the people put them into power. That proken promise was wahy we had such a powerful backlash against Republicans in recent elections......the people felt betrayed. Now we are seeing the same thing again, all the polls agree that the congress and this President is taking the Country in a direction they do not want to go, the Democrats are now feeling the same drunk from absolute power to do as they please without anyone who can stop them and that I believe will result in the same kind of voter backlash. At least I hope so.

There are many segments of Muslim faith, the most severe and unstable are the Wahhabis. I also know several people who are Muslims and run businesses that are pretty much like anyone else. I find them refreshing because they hold onto moral values "modern" people have set aside. I do like people who have solid morals. I believe most of them are Kurdish that I know.

That was what I was trying to say. The point is legit to "learn from" but not legit as a talking point for the current administration or leadership to avoid taking responsibility for actions done now. When people say "well Bush spent a lot, so why come down on Obama" that in my opimion is not a valid point, who cares what another President did when "TODAY" we are making it worse? The promise was "CHANGE", not more of the same and then some.

But unfortunately we are talking about humans, and humans are greedy and selfish creatures much of the time. Look at Al Gore, do you really think he would be as passionate and outspoken about "man caused" global warming if he was not making billions of dollars off of it? He is connected financially to companies who will make trillions of dollars off of forced regulations and that will mean the money he has now will be like nothing compared to what he will make should this political garbage get approved. Obama is connected firmly to GE, and who will make a lot of money should these policies be put into place Obama has promised? GE. Makes sense that GE has handed their television network over to Obama to do with as he pleases. The only way our politicians will do as "WE" want them to do is for us to force these issues. Even when we speak out in large numbers, the Liberals call us discontents and racists so they can continue to do as they please. The Republicans do it too but not quite as hostile with their personal attacks. They are more concerned with their agenda than our needs, and that will stay that way untill we as a Nation get upset enough to stand up to them............and that is where the Liberals are smarter then the Republicans........ The Liberals know they are pissing people off, that is why they want to have things like government run healthcare as a control method. If the Government is supplying you with everything you need, you can't go against it because you will lose the things the Government is providing.

Bush certainly was no Conservative, lol. His many liberal moves such as the amnesty for illegals proved he was no Conservative and in many ways should go down in history as a Democrat based on his policy decisions. I do not think it is legit because it is used to stifle honest debate on the merits of "current" policy. If they fill the air with accusations of how the past administration did something, then there is no time or will power to object to current policy. We can't change the past, but we can learn from it and try "NOT" to make the same mistakes again. Leaning on that crutch of what someone else did in the past as justification for wrongs done today, eliminates any chance of change for the better.
-
Some of them certainly were hypocrites, but we should not be ignoring the fact that while both sides were spending too much money, the Democrats are spending by far the most while we are getting from it the least. Too often this administration falls back on excuses of the last administration as excuses for certain things but I thought this President ran under the promise of "change"? The only change we see is for the worse, and they keep charging foward as if they don't give a sh!t how upset the American people are at them, they have made up their minds and anyone who does not agree with them are racists, stupid, and need to be put down. Say what you want, the Republicans never called people names the way the Democrats do, at least not to that level, in fact I am very irritated how often our new President uses the race card, I think he has set back race relations at least ten years all by himself.

Nothing wrong with being observant. Consider how every time someone does something horrible, we get interviews from people who lived next to the person who all say "he was a quiet man" or "She seemed so nice". The reason is they never knew or payed attention to their neighbor and did not care one way or the other what or who they were. We used to know each other, we used to actually interact with those who live around us but these days we sit in our homes watching the television or typing on our computers and have no idea who we live next to. We have no idea what kinds of people our children are walking around as they play outside and walk down that street. I say keep your eyes open........ I agree with OS, the women most likely are happy you stood up to the man, in their society women are not allowed to question any man and cannot even claim they were raped by a man unless she has a male witness to back up her story. When you live in complete servitude, it must be a small pleasure to watch a man be put in his place by a woman even if she is an outsider.
