Right-Wing Turncoat Gives the Inside Scoop on Why Conservatives Are Rampaging Town Halls

Right-Wing Turncoat Gives the Inside Scoop on Why Conservatives Are Rampaging Town Halls | Health and Wellness | AlterNet

The Republican Old Guard are in the fix an atheist would be in if Jesus showed up and raised his mother from the dead: Their world view has just been shattered. Obama's election has driven them over the edge. Consider Former Congressman **** Armey. Several far right foundations and the multitrillion dollar health-insurance industry have teamed up with him to organize the far right foot soldiers of the Republican Party to intimidate people speaking on behalf of health-care reform. They are using my old shock troops -- given many of these folks were first energized by the Evangelical pro-life movement that my late father and I started in the 1970s. What we did to clinics they are now doing to congressmen and others speaking out for health care reform.

Having failed at the ballot box, having watched their Fox News-organized "tea parties" fizzle the intimidation tactics which the Republicans have embraced are being used in a well-financed, top-down orchestrated fake grass roots campaign by corporate interests to try and protect the profits of the insurance business.
Armey's FreedomWorks is organizing against health care reform. Armey's lobbying firm represents pharmaceutical companies including Bristol-Myers Squibb. Armey's lobbying firm also represents the trade group for the life insurance industry. FreedomWorks is supporting the status quo at all costs. (They are also fans of fossil fuels. Armey's lobbying firm represents Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE, on energy related issues.)

Last year, the
Wall Street Journal exposed FreedomWorks for building "amateur-looking" websites to promote far right interests of Armey. FreedomWorks represents a top-down, corporate-friendly approach that's been the norm for conservative organizations for years. How do I know this is the norm? Because I used to have strategy meetings with the late Jack Kemp and **** Army and the rest of the Republican gang about using their business ties to help finance the pro-life movement to defeat Democrats. I know this script. I helped write it.

Democratic members of Congress are being harassed by angry, sign-carrying mobs and disruptive behavior at local town halls. It's the tactic we used to follow abortion providers around their neighborhoods. "Protesters" surrounded Rep. Tim Bishop (D-NY) and forced police officers to have to escort him to his car for safety. We used to do the same to Dr. Tiller... until someone killed him.

I was lucky in that I knew one of the organizers who let me get in a little early to the front row seats. I think the original plan was to have the front two rows or so filled with people who really wanted to hear about the health care bill, instead of letting those rows be dominated by the protesters we've been seeing on the news at other health care events.

If that was the plan, it was not successful. As people came in, several tried to disregard the "RESERVED" seating signs, including one gentleman who ripped it off the chair next to me and stuck it in the chair in front. "Come on man, that's not cool," I said, pointing out the rest of the entire room was empty.

"I don't see why anyone should have reserved seats here," he told me.

"The disabled?"
Okay, you can tell this guy is a complete hack for Obama, purely without any notion of "why" people are so darn angry right now.

I will not waste too much time on this idiots BS, but I have to ask......do these people really believe they are so special?

Anyone who is not there to kiss Obama's behind should not be allowed to sit in the front rows? I really like the 'disabled' comment. If he really thought the seats were for the disabled, why was he sitting there?

Oh, blind Obama followers are considered disabled? Maybe I can go along with that ;)

People are angry because even Obama refuses to offer specifics, everything is clouded in shadows and mystery with general claims of how we should trust Obama to do what is needed and not bother with the details.

Everything is rush, rush, rush, get it passed and even play games to get around normal approval methods because even many Fiscally responsible Democrats (blue dogs) do not like this plan.

Why all the rush? This plan does not even help a single person until Obama is out of office so why is he claiming we have to pass legislation without discussing the specific details?

Because they are pulling a 'bait and switch'. The budget office has already said this will not reduce costs as Obama claimed, so there goes that reason. This is not 'budget neutral' as he promised, so there goes that idea. There is no immediate help to a single American so there goes the need to rush idea.

Everything Obama claims has been proven to be wrong.....so why be in such a rush to pass somthing that does not look anything like his promises?

Because it is about the power, not helping people.

Just because people are angry, that does not mean their concerns are "FAKE".

These are real people with real concerns, why is it only liberal/socialist protesters are genuine to elitist people like Obama?

SEIU Thugs Teach Health Care Protesters the ?Chicago Way? of Politics

Posted By Jim Hoft On August 7, 2009 @ 12:51 pm In . Feature 01, Crime, Free Speech, Politics, US News | 105 Comments

Barack Obama told [1] a crowd of supporters in Philadelphia back in 2008, ?If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.? He added, ?That?s the Chicago way.?

Last night in St. Louis, Missouri, a local conservative [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTXBOgPCh9w]found out firsthand[/ame] [2] about the ?Chicago way.? Kenneth Gladney, a black conservative from the city, was handing out ?Don?t Tread On Me? flags after a Russ Carnahan town hall meeting on health care in Mehlville. This didn?t go over well [3] with the Obama supporters and union thugs who attended the meeting. They punched him in the face, kicked him in the head, and stomped on him on the pavement. So much for hope and change.

This is my first-person account of what I saw at the the town hall meeting in Mehlville.

I was running late for the Carnahan meeting last night. The doors opened at 6:00 PM and it was around 6:20 when I arrived at Bernard Middle School in St. Louis county. The parking lot was already full. The streets next to the school were also filled up. I ended up walking about three blocks to reach the school. By the time I arrived, the line outside of the school was about 200 yards long [4]. The line wrapped around the front of the building and halfway down the school?s driveway. I was told they had already stopped letting people inside the building. The people up front were told that they could not let anyone else in because of a fire code.

I continued up to the front of the school and a friend I ran into told me to try the media entrance on the side of the building. My friend thought it was a media entrance. It wasn?t. It was marked ?handicapped,? but as I approached the side entrance, it was obvious that these were not handicapped individuals who the Carnahan staffers were letting in.

Several people entered through these doors. I pulled out my camera and [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--ZJhR3T4aw]filmed the action[/ame] [5]. Right before I made it to the door the staffers let a man walk right in. Two SEIU members in purple shirts walked up to the door and did not even hesitate to enter the school. It was like they knew right where to go. But by this time the crowd of tea party protesters locked outside started to notice what was going on. They began yelling, and one man stepped in front of the SEIU members and asked that he be let in, too. Enough people were screaming now that the union members backed off and moved over to the side. The Carnahan staffers decided to stop letting people in this entrance.

There must have been 1,000 tea party protesters standing outside in the 90 degree heat and they were agitated. There were now a few SEIU members outside, and they started to taunt the crowd. Not a very smart move, but they didn?t seem to care. A former marine with his young son on his shoulders told the crowd not to react to the taunting. The crowd outside started to sing ?*** Bless America.? This really seemed to ease the tension that was beginning to build outside the school.

Inside the school the chaos continued. The Carnahan people had roped off the gymnasium into two sides. One side was marked reserved. This was for the union supporters who arrived late for the event. The other side quickly filled up with tea party protesters. A couple of tea party taxpayers sat in the reserved section but moved after the union members arrived. They said they didn?t feel safe. There were several planned speakers who took turns talking before Rep. Carnahan took the stage.

As he spoke the crowd of union supporters continually interrupted him with their applause. A few of the tea party protesters left during this staged show by Carnahan and his cronies. After Carnahan was through speaking he said he was going to take a few questions. His staffers then pulled out a few questions and read them to him from their index cards. They said they had collected the cards beforehand, but the tea party taxpayers did not even know they were only taking questions that were written down. It was a total dog and pony show.

After the event, things got really out of control. The SEIU members were looking for trouble. They roamed the parking lot like a pack of thugs. Conservative Kenneth Gladney, who is black, was passing out ?Don?t Tread on Me? flags and tea party buttons to the taxpayers at the school. Unfortunately for Kenneth, the SEIU members were not happy that a black man was passing out tea party buttons. Kenneth?s lawyer described [3] what happened next:

The SEIU member used a racial slur against Kenneth, then punched him in the face. Kenneth fell to the ground. Another SEIU member yelled racial epithets at Kenneth as he kicked him in the head and back. Kenneth was also brutally attacked by one other male SEIU member and an unidentified woman. The three men were clearly SEIU members, as they were wearing T-shirts with the SEIU logo.

The three SEIU members were arrested at the scene. Kenneth was hurt badly and taken to the emergency room, where he was treated for his numerous injuries. We all hope that he recovers quickly from this vicious attack.

Tomorrow, Saturday, the St. Louis Tea Party Coalition is holding a rally at the local SEIU headquarters. We are going to demand justice [6] for Kenneth Gladney, who was brutally beaten on Thursday night. The St. Louis Coalition will request that the NAACP and the ACLU come out in support of Kenneth Gladney?s rights which were trampled by the union hooligans.

What happened on Thursday night may be the Chicago way of holding a town hall meeting. But it won?t fly in St. Louis.

August 7, 2009
Dear Mr. Hennessy:
I am Kenneth Gladney?s attorney. Kenneth was attacked on the evening of August 6, 2009 at Rep. Russ Carnahan?s town hall meeting in South St. Louis County. I was at the town hall meeting as well and witnessed the events leading up to the attack of Kenneth. Kenneth was approached by an

Kenneth was beaten badly. One assailant fled on foot; three others were arrested. Kenneth was admitted to St. John?s Mercy Medical Center emergency room, where he was treated for his numerous injuries. Kenneth was merely expressing his freedom of speech by handing out the flags. In fact, he merely asked people as they exited the town hall meeting whether they would like a flag. He in no way provoked any argument or altercation, as evidenced by the fact that three assailants were arrested.
We hope that Kenneth fully recovers from his injuries; however, he is in great pain at this time. We will be pursuing legal action at our discretion. This was a truly senseless hate crime carried out by racist union thugs. Regretfully, Representative Carnahan?s statements blaming Kenneth for being a disruptive force are wholly untrue and slanderous. We would like to think that an elected official in Representative Carnahan?s position would gather accurate information before carelessly rushing to judgment.
Kenneth supports conservative ideals, although he subscribes to no particular political party. We are calling on the
http://stlouisteaparty.com/tag/seiu/SEIU
http://stlouisteaparty.com/tag/seiu/, Representative Carnahan, and President Obama to condemn the racist actions of these union thugs. In the days to come, we will be investigating whether these thugs are working at the behest of Representative Carnahan and how strong their alliances to various organizations?such as ACORN?may be.
We hope the St. Louis

Yep, seen THAT coming. Someone is propagating civil unrest. Might even make ya wonder about that NWO conspiracy.

I mean, it was only a matter of time. Think about it. Republicans are the more aggressive type, so of course they need to be the lead ins for the civil war. Democrats are more passive, but are by no means ******, we would just rather ignore you and let you get your self satisfying class labeling out of your system. But man, keep it up and keep it up, just wait mother fukkers, just wait.

Remember we gotta give the Dems props for creating the Klan and starting most of the wars and the Republicans for ending them, so obviously, they are the MASTERS of hate and violence. The Repubs might scream loud and shout out names like a bunch of fukking babies and not let TRUE democracy have it's voice, But the Democrats will kick your *** if you don't stop being total *******, chicken hawks, and ******'. and just shut the fukk up and let your elected official hear a decent, rational discussion... you might learn something.

Alex Jones and TJ know very well Obama was a plant by the JEWS who of course own all the major media outlets like Faux News & MSNBC which can be 100% proven if you follow the money trail.

Now I figured out EXACTLY where all these ASTROTURFER disruptor's are coming from. They are DOUBLE AGENT LIBERALS !!

Man I got this all figured out !!

Alex Jones was RIGHT. Obama really is a member of the NWO, Clintons, Bush's, all them sons of *******.

Obama is propagating FAKE reports of what is going to be in the health bill, using his liberal operatives, they infiltrate with the old people because they will scare easier... The claim to be either Republicans or "PATRIOTS" and get these old people all scared and worked up, and even crying... Sicko's, planning to take out the elderly first in that plan to reach the 250,000,000 population goal.

Then, knowing the Republicans are chicken little's, and scare easy, get them screaming and roudy so they start intimidating the liberals who don't know of the REAL plan.

And there you have it, the guys who had to tolerate the hissy fit rampage decide enough is enough.. and

POLICE STATE COUNTDOWN...

Hey Joe, you haven't happen to have gotten any pre warning memos from the NWO about civil unrest have ya?

Not sure WTF you're getting at, it seems you're denying the union guy attacked the protester, IDK, but my point was, this is a bunch of ****.

I don't care what your stance is, or who you back or what you want, this **** is wrong.

We've been hearing about this from both sides.

Civil disobedience is fine.

When you strong arm someone, it's BS.

There's **** about Congressmen and women "feeling threatened". IMO that could be anything. Politicians can cry that **** if someone disagrees with them.

This kind of **** needs to stop! I don't care who you are.

What makes this look bad the most is it has the appearance of a direct response to BHO calling for leftist to hit back twice as hard.

I'm sure this isn't what the President meant, but it seems he might not have learned from his "teachable lesson" from the Gates thing, that he needs to watch what the fukk he says.

The point in my last post, minus all the drama. Is that it was WAY to easy to tell this was gonna start happening. Personally, I'm not gonna get into a "POST THE YOUTUBE CLIP OF THE ASSAULTS" showdown with you. Come on man, YOU knew it was coming too.

I know they are coming to Nebraska soon. Adrian Smith has a town hall in York I think. I have seen the evidence, and I'm sure you have too, of people being bussed in.

Personally, I think Nebraska is one of those states where all this **** bickering and screaming at each other is beneath us.

I think we as Nebraskans, if we chose to participate in the upcoming town hall, should have at the VERY MINIMUM, the requirement of PROOF OF RESIDENCE is made at the door. Just a simple ID check to make sure the participant is IN FACT a fellow Nebraskan, or does IN FACT live in that district. Adrian Smith it OUR representative, not New Yorks, or Washington's, or Arizona's, ours, and if we need to have a screaming match (doubt that), we don't need no **** instigators there egging it on. Adrian deserves his fair moment as do all the members of the audience to engage in a civil debate with their fellow neighbors.

This shiit, has GOT to stop. It actually kinda sickens me to see older people, who are already half scared out of their mind, and absolutely uninformed, go into a **** panic frenzy and start screaming and crying about horrors that don't exist. WTF?

Enough of the propaganda, will someone PLEASE read the bill and set the record straight.

It is funny though that you bring up all that BS conspiracy ****, because if anything like this happened in the Bush years, where a powerful group like the SEIU who eats breakfast every day with the President, were to be called out like BHO did to "hit back" at the opposition, your buddies would have been drowning in their own drool over the NWO ****.

It's nice to see no matter who's in charge, you all can claim the right wing is doing some NWO movement.

I'm sure this fits in there with your side's claims of Bush/Cheney (I love how every little person in the Bush admin represented his view no matter what is said, but if a couple of nobodys like the Sec of the Treasury and the White House Economic Advisor say something it doesn't mean that it's the opinion of the administration, by the way) blew up the WTC, blew up the levies in New Orleans but only after they conjured up a hurricane to throw at the city, created FEMA concentration camps and were force sterilizing of the gays and their dogs.

BUSH, CHENEY, HALIBURTON, ILLUMINATI, BILDERBERGS, <in my best Howard Dean impersonation> Hee Yaaa!!!

Actually, no. I don't think that vid you posted proved that people are bussed in, but it's possible. Rachel Madcow didn't even challenge that stance. You seemed to come to that conclusion on your own, but whatever.

Personally, I think Nebraska is one of those states where all this **** bickering and screaming at each other is beneath us.
I really don't think it will happen. I predict more of something like the vid from Connecticut that I posted.

I think we as Nebraskans, if we chose to participate in the upcoming town hall, should have at the VERY MINIMUM, the requirement of PROOF OF RESIDENCE is made at the door. I'm not a fan of Adrian Smith, but since you brought it up, I very much disagree with you on Sen. Nelson. I believe that Sen. Nelson has historically voted and done what he feels his constituents want of him and does what he thinks is right. I think it's the same here.

Sen. Nelson has a view that most in Congress and especially the Senate don't have. He's been a businessman. He knows what legislation can do to jobs and those who create jobs.

Most in Congress don't know what it's like to manage more than the few employees of a law firm, where Nelson ran a very large and successful business.

I don't believe his concerns are made by the insurance companies. I think he has genuine concerns of how this legislation will affect businesses and employment.

This shiit, has GOT to stop. It actually kinda sickens me to see older people, who are already half scared out of their mind, and absolutely uninformed, go into a **** panic frenzy and start screaming and crying about horrors that don't exist. WTF?

Funny you should bring this up again. For the past four decades it's been a standard threat and fear mongering point of the Democrats to tell old people that if they vote Republican, they will take away your social security benefits and medicare. Now that the right brings up concerns, it's disgusting and unforgivable.

I do agree, and wish I knew of some foundation or think tank that is impartial, non-partisan and unbiased that could evaluate the House and Senate bills and give the people an executive summary of what could be expected of it.

What concerns me is the even after the White House called in the CBO guy and tried to strong arm him, it wouldn't give the plan a good rating. :(

Yeah, I've actually watched a bunch of his "INFOWARS" (Alex Jones ripped his site name off from my Phreakwars name BTW... it's true, it's true) I saw his huge GWB conspiracy thing with 9/11, the secret world leaders meetings. Not the ones we elected, but the REAL world leaders. Hillary made it on that list in his first film. Obama became the "CHOSEN ONE" after it was obvious Hillary was gonna lose the primarys and was just stalling for time and kissing *** to save face. McCain got desperate at that point and picked Palin which blew it for him right there because he tried pleasing a single sector of his base.

Honestly, I don't think John McCain WANTED to be President and threw the race. Yeah, I know he's fun to pick on, but honestly, I like the old man's ***** for taking one for the team and had watched him repeatedly defend Obama to the fringers. It was about the only thing to do when pushing all the more important middle of the roaders the other guys way by stiring up the whack jobs.. CLASSIC YOUTUBE right there, no doubt!! People would watch that and go... UH, AIN'T NO WAY I'M VOTING THE SAME AS THOSE FREAKS.

For that, John McCain deserves another medal.

Only problem was, McCain forgot to throw the lunatics back in their cage before the "I concede" speech we wait for every 4 years, and they started growing like a virus.

The occasional "Obama's a terrorist" shouts coming from the rallys have now turned into a frenzy of misinformation. fear, and panic.

And it REALLY doesn't help the guy just happens to be black.

THAT ***** IZ GONNA GET HIZSELF SHOTZ.

Tell me you don't see THAT coming.

I think McCain wanted to win too much. I think McCain gave himself over, completely to the single worst campaign advisors in history.

I think if John McCain would have been the same John McCain that campaigned in 2000, he would have won because I think the only reason he lost that RNC primary race to Bush was Bush's daddy's mojo. Even with the fervent desire for a new coarse, if McCain had just been the real "straight talk" guy he was in 2000, not the fake/manufactured/controlled version that he was in 2008, I think he could have pulled it off.

You saw glimpses of what McCain could have been when he was allowed to be himself. Like when he was on SNL, when he was telling jokes at that dinner, etc... but they didn't let him be himself.

If you look at McCain before the campaign and now after he lost, he's a very real person. The most middle of the road, relate to a broad range of American's, possibly ever.

I think McCain's campaign managers will go down in history as the people who ran the most negligent campaign for POTUS in history. (post primary anyway)

I think Edwards would have been another John Kerry for the Dems if McCain ran a 2000 style campaign. Obama had it goin. The youth, he could speak well, he could stay on the talking points and I don't mean this as a negative, but he learned alot from his community organizer days and the teachings of Saul Alinsky and along with David Axelrod who had his test campaign in Deval Patrick's campaign for Governor of Massachusetts (he even in a rare campaign mistake embarrasingly recycled one of Patrick's speeches for Obama) put them to use in what was possibly the best run campaign in US history.

All that said, I still believe that the nation would have been better off with McCain as President. I think the nation does best when opposing parties control the Executive and Legislative branches as long as neither is too radical.

We did great things with Reagan and a Dem congress. Under Clinton after the Reps took over congress and did poorly when both were under Dem control with Carter and both in Rep control under Bush.

I think the current congress is too far left radical and without a check in the White House, it's going to be bad, just as when the congress was out of control and Bush wasn't a check in the White House. A rubber stamp is never good.

This is one of reason I'm really concerned now. At least under the Rep controlled congress under Bush the media was there to keep in check, but at this point under Obama and Pelosi/Reid controlled congress we don't have the media to keep them in check... yet. I think it's coming and slowly getting there. (I hope :( )

BTW, you've insinuated that I'm a Rep partisan hack. FYI, I didn't vote for either Obama or McCain, I have always voted for Nelson and in 2006, I voted for Scott Kleeb over Adrian Smith for 3rd District for Congress. I did vote for Johannes over Kleeb in the Senate in 2008 because Kleeb is too much of an unknown, and the Senate is too powerful of a position for an unknown and I think Johannes had already established a fairly positive record.

So, my point is that I vote for who I feel is best. Not by party.
