Not sure.. just heard some troops have had to go to training for "civil unrest" and are no longer going to Iraq.. Here in MN and in California.. Heard it on talk radio this morn.. Some conservative station that has Rush and Hannity everyday.. It was a morning show with a local guy, who is a riot, and pretty **** smart.. and he said a reliable source he knew in the military gave him the info.. and a couple people from near the airport called in about the unusual activity while I was listening..
Now isn't that a good sign?
The Guard may be doing their annual training since their trip got canceled. Since crowd control (sounds better than riot control, doesn't it?) is part of their job description, they probably did a hurry-up job of arranging training.

Infoshop News - October 1st: U.S. Troops Training for Domestic Unrest

Army deploys combat unit in US for possible civil unrest

For the first time ever, the US military is deploying an active duty regular Army combat unit for full-time use inside the United States to deal with emergencies, including potential civil unrest.

Beginning on October 1, the First Brigade Combat Team of the Third Division will be placed under the command of US Army North, the Army’s component of the Pentagon’s Northern Command (NorthCom), which was created in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with the stated mission of defending the US “homeland” and aiding federal, state and local authorities.
The unit—known as the “Raiders”—is among the Army’s most “blooded.” It has spent nearly three out of the last five years deployed in Iraq, leading the assault on Baghdad in 2003 and carrying out house-to-house combat in the suppression of resistance in the city of Ramadi. It was the first brigade combat team to be sent to Iraq three times.

While active-duty units previously have been used in temporary assignments, such as the combat-equipped troops deployed in New Orleans, which was effectively placed under martial law in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, this marks the first time that an Army combat unit has been given a dedicated assignment in which US soil constitutes its “battle zone.”

Great.. fantastic.. With any luck maybe a hero will kick in my door.

I didn't look at the markets today. Went to the casino, where I could get a better return on my money. Had just as much luck as the stock market. :( I remember mentioning on Tuesday that I thought the market would end up under 9,000 on Friday.

I think a lot of this is still panic selling.
Oh yeah.. and a lot of forced selling.. When a lot of people wanna cash in shares of mutual funds, there is no chioce but to sell.. Plus some just plain need cash no matter the price and have to dump their individual stocks.. Might hafta take 5 - 10 grand and put it in soon..

My roth has lost at least 1/3 in the last couple months... Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Oh well... Wont need it for 25 years..

Course it did take 25 years and a world war to recover from the Great Depression.. prolly be another 25 years before any elected official even admits we are in a another depression this time.. ********.

Least my bulk at 9% hasn't lost a penny... and the dollars been making good gains on the Euro and Pound.. yay cash.

Interest rates have no where to go but up too.. Fed has officially lost control.

Be a good year to transfer the rest of my traditional into a roth though.. Less taxes.. by a mile. Holy *** beating..

I see oils at $80 though... pummling my final 70 shares of Range Resources.. Oh well.. already cashed out 6 times what I put in.. and it's still worth more than 4 times what I paid for it.. Sucks to see it go from 80 to 25 - 30 though.. Life is good.. cept when it sucks.. :D

A new message for Americans...

Due to recent economic reversals and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, the 'light at the end of the tunnel' has been turned off.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

Under those criteria, we haven't had a real Commander in Chief since Teddy Roosevelt.
