**** man, I really wanna move to Norway or Sweden or something...

Recently I've been contemplating the possible ways we're ******** ourselves over here.... and it worries me. I worry about gas, I worry about war, I worry about the presedential election, I worry about golbal warming, I worry about having another GREAT DEPRESSION. *sigh*

We have the tech and reasources for tons of great alternatives, its just now we have to find away to murder big business.... so they don't **** us over...

i was under the impression that Saudi was claiming that it wasnt worrying to its maxium when it comes to extracting oil however theres evidence to say that they are working over it, like an oil overdraft if you will...ahhh well maybe my foully left-wing newspaper the Independent is feeding me lies again you know, not being owned by Murdoch and all!

i wouldnt mind a great depression bc then i could march on parliament with the socialist workers party :p

as for me I've been both trying to wonder about new energy solutions, as well as trying just to live in the moment and have fun. I recently got accepted to write music reviews for this icelandic site, I'm pretty excited about that. and then my postrock band will hopefully be getting somewhere in the next couple of months. any lucky we'll be playing shows in august :p

aside from that I've just been working at the mail center, carrying packages and sorting them out...

as for me I've been both trying to wonder about new energy solutions, as well as trying just to live in the moment and have fun. I recently got accepted to write music reviews for this icelandic site, I'm pretty excited about that. and then my postrock band will hopefully be getting somewhere in the next couple of months. any lucky we'll be playing shows in august :p

aside from that I've just been working at the mail center, carrying packages and sorting them out...

thanks everyone =) much appreciated! I'm loving this journal again :D

anyhow yeah maybe I like nietzsche a bit. havent read anything by him but the ideas Ive read about are interesting

übermensch is an interesting concept (and then misinterpreted and villified by the nazis)

also "gott ist tot", which "he" is, imo

now

last 2-3 days have been boring, for the most part

working from 13-21.30 on thursday, then band practise and talking until 1.30 am lol

had to go to work the next day at 9 but overslept a bit and was a tad bit late for the first time ever, but it was alright

then work yesterday from 9-20.10

that really sucked, for the most part. actually only working for so long sucked

then work today from 8-12.10, we left early cause there was nothing to do, lol

plan for the weekend, relax and watch euro 2008, oh yeah

tomorrow, hopefully band practise and then a concert on this little island outside reykjavik

lol it was alright, it was fun, I needed the practise and some hanging around time

maaaan yesterday was sweet. sort of.

band practise from 13.30 til 17.30

didn't go that well actually, the recording part that is. rehearsing songs went great, but recording them not so great, but it was alright I guess. didn't get any full recording of a song, but it was nice to try.

then we went to a concert by a band that's our friends, For a Minor Reflection

they play this beautiful mellow music

they were playing in a very small church on this little island just outside reykjavik

they didn't have the best of gigs but it was still great

then we ditched the other band that was gonna play and went for pizza and some more recording equipment (lol)

and went and tried to record

still no luck

then another band that we're friends with, Muck, came to visit.

they play this really heavy postmetal

but anyway, they were watching, and we tried to record with them still watching us play (cause we're a new band and no one has heard us play, now except them) but it didn't go well. there was a computer error as usual and in the climax of the song I broke a string lol

pretty awkward. then after a moment I realized how I could play the what I was playing without the string I broke, lol

after they left we tried one more time but since I didn't have backup strings I stole some guitar that was in the room and played it this one last time lol

so yeah I didn't have much sleep and I'm pretty tired

so I'll be watching the Euro 2008 games from bed :p

mbox and protools didn't work on the mac we had

then we switched to pc, windows xp and that worked somewhat

I don't even remember whether at the later point we switched to garageband or audacity or something but there always came this disk error. like the hard drive couldn't handle it

I don't really know though, I have no idea how these things work...

I highly recommend Adobe Audition 1.5 (newer but not newest version of program once called Cool Edit). And yeah I have had a problem with Pro Tools not working on a sound card at the studio one time. Turns out that version we got was an old one that didn't work with the card so we had to send it back and they send out new one.

we had that on one of the computers. so I guess that didn't work either

but yeah thanks, I appreciate the tips, now I know where to go for recording advice lol
