Is Mainstream Bad?

People constantly ask me about new songs on the radio and how I like them, and I have no answer because I hate the radio, for good reason too.
I do not hate mainstream, I hate bad music. It just so happens that mainstream is pretty much bad music.
I mean, sure Ill listen to some catchy rap song every once in a while becase it sounds good, but I dont ever pay attention to the lyrics, and thats what they want.

exactly that is why i hate mainstream rap...if you want some good hip hop check out DJ Santana

Mainstream is basically what majority of people will usually like.
Like Panic!@ the disco, they make catchy tunes, people like it, radio stations play them, everyone likes them.
Mainstream isn't bad. But it's definitely overplayed.

The mainstream of today is just horrible. It's all crappy repetitive hip-hop collaborations that make me want to yank my eardrums out.
It's really annoying. That's all I hear on my hit radio station. I turn it on every once in a while because I DO like a few mainstream bands and I like to see if anything worth listening is actually on. Actually, most of my favorite bands have been or are mainstream. But usually I just turn to the classic rock station and listen to it. Not much of a fan of classic rock, but I do enjoy a bit of it. Azem, the 3 bands you pointed out are actually some of the mainstream bands I like.
I'll put it like it is. If I like it, I will listen to it whether it's indie or mainstream.
But I think overall music in this world is just going downhill. I mean, only so many territories of music can be covered. So what's next, country-screamo?

So essentailly if someone only listens to mainstream do they have bad taste?
Becuase if the majoirty of mainstream is bad music then essentially you are saying they have bad taste.
