They have some good music taste and some not so great. I don't understand how you can call Green Day, a band which has been singing the same redundant, pop lyrics over mediocre instrumentals, still "fresh" after 5 years.

If mainstream was bad it wouldn't be there now would it, obviously a bunch of people like that kind of music. All personal opinion, in my opinion. :p

All mainstream -> suck a$$! Everyone knows it!

Viva real metal and old school gangsta rap

Nu metal - KoRn (new CD sucks but previous rule), Deftones, disturbed

Trash metal - Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Kreator, Slayer

Black metal - children of bodom, wintersun,Soil

Death metal - Deicide, Behemoth,In flames,Black dahlia murder, Cannibal corpse, Satyricon...

Rap - KRS one, The roots, Public enemy, Naughty by nature, RUN Dmc,Cypress hill, Wu tang clan, Ice cube...

I mean what is it with thoes ******** continuing with the sound they came out with anyways? I mean comeon sure you came out with that kind of style and became popular with it but now you need to swtich things up. The whole rebelllious thing was cool in the early nineties but now it's time for power ballads. Love songs. Something you don't do.

greenday thrives on what they do best (waits for two ******** in the back to say sellout) they sing their own style. It's what they do. It's not the same lyrics. Definately is not. I'd bet anyone 100 usd they dont use the same lyrics for two tottaly diffrent songs(Unless they are demos mashups ect.) So yea. Linkin Park does the same thing. Metallica does the same thing. It's what musicians do. Unless your Kidrock.

That's the common excuse used for defending mainstream music. "If they're so bad, why are they so popular?" It's a business, it's brainwashing, and it's shoved down people's ears wherever you go. A lot of people don't know any better and really don't care to.

Of course they don't literally recycle the same lyrics. But they all have virtually the same concept.

Why is Green Day a sellout? Well for one, they once looked normal, but now wear suits and makeup similar to most bands going big. They're recent attempts at punk-rock is pathetic and is without a doubt pop music. Also, they're not talented musicians. Mediocre, you could say. All they do is play three chords over and over at a fast pace. I know garage bands more talented than these kids. For people just starting to play guitar, teachers always recommend them to play Green Day for a reason: any ****** with an aspiration in music can play it. And the singer sounds pretty much like the rest of the polluted pop-rock genre.

they've always played the hole thre chord thing...makes them them...i think the whole suit thing was just them trying something new/diffrent that they like i cant think of to much bands who dress like them that are pretty popular...maybe my chemical romance...if anything the only thing that has changed greenday is group therapy and the lack of marijuana and families to take care of.

Greenday are stale now im pretty sure i have heard the same album 5 times over the last I dunno 10 years but they have gone from having fun to yet another polticaly laced punk rock outfit.........hoooooooow boring is that.

Azem stop wasting your time on those who seem to abuse their right to an opinion.

Without showing disrespect to other members.

I would advice further research into mainstream music and the context in which it is used.

Besides toxic-1, you all don't seem to have anything else to say besides this band sucks because they have done something or other like become famous.

If you think all the greenday songs sound the same, you are probably listening to the same song.

Open your minds and your brains, after all we don't always get what we want in life.

Im not one of those just saying they suck I dont like them cause I believe they are too samey. I havent said THEY SUCK im stating my opinion and you guys are by deffending them so if I say the same thing bout u abusing ur right to express an opinion because ur not gonna say it cause u share the same opinion. How am I abusing my right to my opinion anyway? I'm defending my opinion just as you are.

Secondly, how can you be open-minded about pop culture? Everybody has heard it before. It's everywhere and working at a pharmacy, I wish I could close my ears because these pop-rock songs sound so alike it was as if I was listening to one 9-hour song. Therefore, we were initially open-minded to try it. But, many of us didn't like it and prefer good music over cliche lyrics and poor instrumentals.

If you like Green Day, feel free to listen to it. But don't even try to say that they're original, and "something we haven't heard before." They're not and they're also not punk, and those are undeniable facts.

By the way I'm not defending anything.. I think Green Day is funny music, not the best, but they're funny. Only live performance I've ever visited btw. ^.^

That's my opinion, and if you don't like it, then fine, your opinion, I respect that. ^_^ ( I was gonna say then shove something up ur *** but hey.. xD )
