The Next Day
In the morning after Talinda called Rob, she left her house and headed over to Chester’s to see if Sam was doing better. Once she got there, she parked her car and got out. She then walked up to Chester’s door and waited for him to answer it. When he did, he looked a little happy to see her. ‘Oh no, maybe Sam isn’t doing that good ’she thought to herself.
“Hey Talinda it’s good to see you. You can come in” he said and move to the side to let her in. When she walked in Chester closed the door and led her over to the living room area, “Talinda do you mind staying here for a little while? I’m going over to Sam’s mom's to see Draven. I’ll be back soon.”
“Sure. I’ll stay” she said.
“Sam should be asleep right now. If she asks were I am at just tell her I’ll be back soon. I’ll probably be back in an half an hour” he said walking over to the door.
“Okay” she said as she heard him close the door. Hoping that Sam wouldn't wake up and want to go after her, she walked around the room looking at the pictures around the T.V. After looking at the pictures around the T.V., Talinda walked over to the dining room area. She walked around the room when her eyes landed on more pictures that were on a small table right near the dining table. She walked up to them and picked up one seeing that it was a picture of Sam, Chester and Draven when she heard footsteps run down the stairs.
“Put that down and get out of my house! You shouldn’t be here” she turned around and came face to face with Sam.
“I’m here for Chester.”
“No, I mean here, in Los Angeles, on planet earth. Your dead, and you’ve been dead for a long, long time, and dead woman don’t steal fiancé or children or knickknacks” Sam said grabbing the picture out of her hands “You can’t have this” she said.
“I don’t even want it Sam.”
“Of course you do. Chester loves this picture. Of course you want it. But you can’t have it” she said and threw the picture at the small bar.
“Sam, don’t get worked up on this” she said trying to calm Sam down from getting further upset and possibly attacking her. She didn’t want that to happen and if it did she do anything to protect her child.
“There, its settle. And don’t call me Sam.”
“Okay I’m sorry, it's what I’m use to.”
“Well, get unused to it. I’m Samantha. Only my real friends can call me Sam. You’re Talinda. Talinda Bentley” moving her head back and forth as she said her name, “I don’t even know you.”
“I don’t want to hurt you, Samantha.”
“I know what you want, okay? You want to take what’s mine. You want to take everything that I love. All of this…”she moved her hand around to point all the stuff that was around the house “…We worked hard for it! You can’t have it!” she said getting upset.
“Okay, you did a fantastic job here. This is a really, really nice place.”
“Okay…”she walked over to where their wine glasses were at and grabbed one of them, breaking it so that it was sharp, ‘Oh ****!’ Talinda thought to herself. Sam turned to face her, “…your lying…”she said as Talinda heard the front door open and closed. Talinda breathed in relief that Chester was back “…You were so much easier when you stayed dead. I wish you could’ve just stayed that way!” she said walking up to her as Talinda step back toward the kitchen area. Chester walked behind Sam grabbing both of her arms stopping her from further attacking Talinda.
“Sam” he said.
“No” she said trying to break free from him.
“Stop…don’t…” he said trying to calm her down, “…its okay.” He moved his hand down her arm to go and take the wine glass out of her hands once she sort of calmed down but not taking it out of her hands just yet.
Sam then tried to move at Talinda again, “Uhhh” she let out because Chester was holding her back.
“Sam. Sam, Sam --” he said trying not to cut his hand as she turned around to face him and also to get him to let go of the wine glass.
“Chester, Talinda -- Talinda is dangers! She’s coming after me!” she said letting go of the glass.
“Listen nobody’s coming after you, Sam” he said as he set the glass down on the small table close to the dining table.
“No, no, no, I’m telling you, she…she made all these years to come after me. She thinks I destroyed her life, but I didn’t, I swear! My brother told me that it wasn’t my fault but it is. I -- I promised you, he said that I didn’t mean to make her crash her car!” she said as he put his hands on her shoulders moving her over to a chair. Talinda just stood there, listening to Sam talk regretting ever keeping her secret for twelve years.
“Sit down, sit down…” he said pulling one of the chairs out sitting her down as he pulled another chair out moving it in front of hers. Talinda walked closer leaning against the wall across from there wine glass case. “…listen to me okay? It’s not your fault.”
“Yes -- Yes it -- Yes it is. At least -- at least bad things couldn’t have happen to her like it happen to me until -- until I found you then it all stopped” she said sobbing. After Sam said that Talinda thought to herself about what could of happen to her.
“Listen to me --” he said looking up at Talinda as Sam shook her head.
“It’s was the only safe place” she said still shaking her head while looking down at the ground.
“You’re safe, you’re safe with me, okay?” he put his hand under her chin pulling her face up so she would look at him “Listen to me, you’re the mother of our son. No one’s going to hurt you as long as I’m alive. You understand that? I will protect you till the day I die” he said. Getting to be too much for her, Talinda walked over to the small steps, but before she walked down them she looked back over at Sam and Chester to take a quick look at them. She then turned and walked down the small steps walking over to the front door opening it and walked out of the house, closing the door behind her, “Do you get what I'm -- Sam, listen to -- listen to me, ok? Do you understand what I'm saying?” Chester asked Sam.
Looking at him, Sam asked, “You'll protect me?”
“I will protect you and we're going to get through this.”
“I'm safe” she said.
“Because --” he couldn’t finish as since she kept saying that she was safe, “You are safe. Come here” he said bringing her close to him, wrapping his arms around her.
Once Talinda closed the door she let out a sigh then walked over to her car getting in and drove off back to her house. When she pulled up to her house she notice Rob’s car was in her driveway. After she parked her car, she walked up to her door opening it and saw that Rob was sitting on her couch. She walked over to him and sat down next to him with a heavy sigh, “Have you been waiting long?” she asked.
“No I got here ten minutes ago” pausing then he continued, “I take it things didn’t go to well at Chester’s” he said
Talinda looked at Rob, “You know, when my husband died, I thought I would lose my mind, but I never lost it like Sam has and she hasn’t lost anyone like I have.”
“Did she know who you were?”
