we need a new forum site the way this place is so dam gloomy...
and grad, im not sure about another LP styled forum....this isnt going too well and others are more succesful than us, starting afresh with an aging band that looks sadly fading would be problematic.

I agree for the most part. But the problem is if we aren't going to pidgeonhole ourselves as a band fan site then what the **** are we going to be?
There's social forums out there for music, hobbies, sexual preferences and social status types, if we're not LPF take 2 then what IS the new place going to be (aside from full of LPF members) ?
Any ideas?

I think that's good - and a given, considering many of still like LP we just aren't as into them as we arguably were when we first joined here. I still like them. I'd still visit the forums, I'd even visit this place, naturally, but the point is we need a site that evolves. This place used to be great but it's stagnating. The only real highlight used to be the LPFAs but even these days I don't think I could care less. Morale is low and the owners aren't contributing. We need a change. We need something damnit...
EDIT: Actually, I've been looking online recently for some kind of social forum that's just generalised and so far I can't find anything. I'm one of the few that don't go for Facebook or MySpace hence why I'm always here. Maybe I'm either not looking in the right places or there's a niche here perhaps?

i dont care what the forum is about but the one thing that really made LPF special is that we had an amazing community spirit. Everyone just made jokes and we had a real bond. That is long gone though. But i want that back

Agreed. On both points.
And as far as being worried about attracting numbers to the site (if it ever happens) I don't see as an issue. We're not in it for the numbers, we want a new place to stretch our proverbial legs. If it stays alive and strong enough people will come, the same way people came here, and word of mouth don't forget. I just hope Chris can figure something out and fit it into his busy schedule. Hope his enthusiasm doesnt go the way the owners here apparently have...
And while we're brainstorming here, if it was to be a general forum, what about proposed names for the place? Any ideas? Just curious is all... see how clever y'all can be

i think that even though we are saying we dont care about numbers, numbers will play a big role in the forum make up, numbers means that if someone cool leaves than someone cool takes their place and such, it means if members do leave, the overall feel of the place isnt lost since there are other members,thats the problem with the LPF, we're losing great members and there isnt really a turn over to replace them in the same vein as a few years ago, iv said all along it isnt the fact that LPF are losing members, its WHO we are losing, forums are built for people to come and go as they please, but when we start losing institutional members who post alot and built the atmosphere and noone is able to replace them, thats when a forum starts dying

I dunno what I want, except I want back the feeling of joy being online when there were a lot of great people online doing fun stuff...I mean I remember spending hours here at a time...even on like a friday night, just hanging around being silly in weird threads in the game section or something
