Did he warp to this undisclosed escape route, or might it have required him
to exist the building he was in and use that as his starting point?

Anyone would be the Secret Service. They would easily know what they had
themselves done in preparation prior to his visit. It was a known option for
them, vs. taking a chance on moving into an unknown situation.
