Well, I suppose guns can be used as a means of coercion, based on the
threat of killing. That seems to be the essential attraction of them
to the gun lobby. They aren't really a means of obtaining food
anymore, for the vast majority of the population, the vast majority of
the time.

Actually, I think the appeal of guns is essentially fascist. "Hey
I've got a gun!!! You can't mess with me!!!" Sounds pretty Freudian
to me. Like they're missing something somewhere else!

Keep hanging qualifiers on there and you might eventually come
close to something reasonable. But you have a long way to go.

Then what's your problem with them?

Pretty common in the fantasyland inhabited by right-wing loons, as

This person you characterize as a "right wing loon" has actually talked
to people (literally, face to face) with people who were there and knew
_exactly_ how those "referendums" in the former Soviet Union and other
Warsaw Pact nations were handled--who had actually voted in some of them.

What's your experience? What's your evidence?

Do you actually have any or is your argument style just to take
contentless pot-shots at people who disagree with you? You do know what the
fallacy of an "argument ad hominem" is, don't you?

Your implication, via the "how many" question, that dictators don't hold
referendums stands refuted by example.

Judging from your inability to string together more than three words
in sequence with correct english syntax, I'm a bit skeptical regarding
your ability to grasp the issues involved. I'm assuming, simply from
the name you use, that you are in fact a native english speaker.
Otherwise, I would have assumed you were actually from one of the
former Soviet Republics, and had had limited educational opportunities
there.

Yeah, I can imagine how dealing with TWO WHOLE PEOPLE might be
overwealming for someone in your condition. Please, take your time -
with SO MANY of us ganging up on you I can understand how you might be
feeling a little flustered :b

> Just a fetish for guns. Do you sleep with them?
> Do you have sex with them?

No... can't say that I have... in fact the only folks I ever hear
suggesting such things are folks such as yourself. You may want to
consider seeing someone professionally about this - might be some
deep, unresolved issues lurking.

> Does seeing a Magnum 45 make you go weak in the knees?

Depends on which end I'm standing on I suppose.

> Do you think a gun will protect you against plastic explosives?

That would depend of course on when I saw the guy with the plastic
explosives...

Obviously a gun isn't going to offer protection from everything; but
neither does it need to. There are more than enough perfectly
legitimate things that it can protect against.

I do know for an absolute fact that it will protect me from someone
trying to break into my home late at night. I also know that it will
protect me from some asshole trying to rob me in a parking lot.

> Do you think a gun will protect you against nuclear weapons?

Nope. Nor will it protect me against earthquakes, tornadoes, floods,
or giant meteors. Is this the best you can do? Pick the biggest and
dumbest exaggeration that you can think of and smugly declare that it
proves something about your argument?

Or - and I really hate to even think this - are you actually stupid
enough to believe that what you said above was somehow clever?

> Are you looking forward to the day when civilization collapses, and you can
> shoot anyone you want, anytime you want? Are you trying to bring that time about?

I guess we know the answer now.

My editors seem to have a different opinion.

You do realize you continue to engage in argument ad hominem, don't you?

You do realize that is a logical fallacy, don't you.

You do realize that you are undermining your own position with every post
you make, don't you?

Actually, you probably don't.

Mind specifying who your "editors" are, and where you are published?

You know, I hear the "Harry Potter" books make excellent reading
material for adults with limited literacy, trying to improve their
reading and writing skills. You might take them out from the library
sometime. You do know what a library is, don't you?

Oh, here we are. Well, I guess morons appeal to morons. Lowest
common denominator, and all that. Explains why our economy is going
into the toilet at the moment, with imbeciles like you presenting
themselves as authorities!

Sure... you can, for example, coerce someone into not taking your
wallet, or you can coerce them into leaving your home without
harming you or your family, or taking any of your hard earned
possessions.

It's certainly one of the uses; preferable in fact to actually killing
someone.

I hunt every year; fresh game is better than anything you'll buy in
the grocery store. It also serves to limit animal populations.

Based on that statment I am very confident in saying that you don't
know what the words "fascist" or "Freudian" even mean. You're
throwing those terms out there for the exact same reason you threw out
the reference to Iraq a bit earlier: You are incapable of actually
making (or even having) an intelligent argument, so you blurt out
whatever bumper-sticker bullshit that comes to mind. Your strategy is
to throw as much **** around as you can in the hopes that some of it
sticks.

You are nothing more than a weak-minded, inept and impotent little
troll.

Your pot-shots, completely devoid of content as they are, are hardly
compelling.

The problem isn't that I can't write, it appears to be that you can't
read.

He's not claiming anything. He's too stupid to claim anything. He's
just rambling. Unfortunately we have professional right-wing moron
writers like David L. Burkhead telling him how brilliant he is, the
more he rambles. Explains why the country is so screwed up at the
moment, to some extent.
