County Family
The dinner bell rings on the country farm
The family comes in from their daily chores
“Wash up” says the mom.
They rush around to get cleaned up
Dinner smells fill the air
Chicken, sweet savory beans, homemade potatoes
Dad sits down at the head of the table
Waiting for the rest to come to eat
Uncles and Aunts seat themselves
The kids rush to find a place
With gleaming smiles on their face.
The steam rises from the food
As the family bows their heads for a prayer
At least they can eat the great food
With old time music in the background
Laughter and chat fill the air
Intertwining with the smells of dinner
The sun goes down, with the family still talking
Night stories and happy memories
Fill the light of the country family.

Rise Up…
I’m sitting here in the cold, heartless night
Tired and worn out from the fights.
My life has come to a stop
When I feel that all I have is my glock
People attempt to end my life
Attempt to rid the world of my strife.
I speak my mind and I speak my emotions
Something they can’t even understand.
All the hate in this new world
All the agony created by the leaders
Yet when I try to stop it,
Try to make peace,
I’m hated and marked for death.
They want to get rid of me
Rid the world of my independence.
I walk in the night
Watching over my back
Always ready to fight
Always prepared for an attack.
They hate my personality
My no-fear persona.
As I walk the night and twilight
Citizens help in my fight
Silently supporting me
Or hiding me from the authorities.
I call to them
Tell them to fight
And they will rise up
And overturn the corrupt new policies
And egotistical leaders.
We will rise up to fight
To protect our natural rights
So fight for your freedom
Fight for your voice to be heard
The new world will fall
And we will rise up to live free
Rise up…
