Continuing Chapter 22
In the area were Patrick had his seizure in, Brad, Phoenix and Linsey walked through as Jennifer was crying loudly.
“Oh, ***, she must be hunger. Hold on. Just --” Linsey said seating down on the ground leaning against a beam.
“You know, the cave-ins change the topography of the caves. This is the closes to where I got out” Phoenix said.
“Yeah, well, that doesn’t do us much good, Phoenix, unless someone less is trying to get in. You know what I’m saying?” Brad said.
“You know, a positive attitude couldn’t hurt”
“Neither would a healthy dose of reality”
“This is still the shortest way from outside, ok? Now either you argue with me or you help me find a way out?”
The sound of humming made then both stop arguing and look at Linsey. She was humming ‘Mocking Bird’ to Jennifer. The sound of some music had made Jennifer stop crying.
Back at the train, Robin found a bottle of medicine in one of the suite cases and then started zipping it back up. Chester walked up to the opening of the cave-in wall and saw Robin.
“Your Robin right?” he asked.
Robin turned her head to look at him, “Yes, and I believe your Chester Bennington” she stood up, “It’s nice to finally meet you” she shook his hand, “Don’t think I’m a crazy fan I’m Monica’s cousin”
“I heard from Jen and I’m grateful that you’re helping Anna and the baby” he said as Talinda, Rob and Patrick walked through the opening, “This is Talinda and her husband Rob Bourdon” Chester said introducing them to her.
“Robin Vane” she said shaking their hands and slightly turned her head to see Patrick sitting down on a rock and she frowned noticing that something was wrong with him, “Where’s Jen? What --”
“She’s finding a way out” Chester said.
“Yea. In the mean time she wanted us to get Patrick to you quickly as possible” Talinda said. Robin moved to sit down in front of Patrick as Talinda, Rob, and Chester walked a little bit away to get into the train.
“Headache or seizure?” Robin asked.
“Both, I -- I think. I fell in one of the tunnels”
“And you’re sitting here telling me about it when by all mean you could be dead. You must have some guardian angel” Robin said.
In the tunnel were Jen and Hector were fighting, Jen slowly got up coughing. She slowly turned her head and then her body on to her back slowly getting up. She looked around for any signed of the manic, Hector, when she saw a pile of rocks and slowly got up. She slowly walked over to the pile of rocks and looked at it for a few seconds, knowing that Hector was under them. Jen walked away not knowing that Hector was too alive and was moving his hand out of a small crack in between to rocks.
“Hector’s crazier than I am” Sam said as she was in her father’s car as he was driving.
“Let’s try not to think about him” her father said.
“He tried to kill me. I had to fight him off. I had to hit him in the head with a rock, and then he shot at me. So I shot him back and I thought I killed him, but he got away”
“You know? It’s okay you’re alive. That’s all the matters” her father said as he turned on to a different street.
“Where you taking me?” she asked knowing that he wasn’t taking her to her mother’s like she wanted to.
“Just try and get some rest, all right”
“Your taking me back to Rose Lawn, aren’t you?” she asked looking at him, “You think I’m crazy, you think I made this whole thing up”
“Sam, you need to calm down”
“Stop the car! Stop the car or I’ll jump! I swear I will!” she yelled turning her body and started going for the handle on the car door.
“Sam, Sam --” he said locking the door so she could open to door.
“You open this --” she said when she found out he locked the door.
“Stop it, all right” he said reaching out to her still keeping his eyes on the road.
“Open the door!” she yelled.
“Stop it. I’m not going to hurt you” he said and reaching out to her again taking his eyes off the road, but she pulled away not wanting him to touch her. Then he glanced out the window. Sam grabbed the wheeled and made him merged into the other lane of an oncoming car and her father quickly turned the wheel.
Sam’s father was able to miss the car and slammed on the breaks when he swerved onto the sided of the road, “Sam --” he said and tried to calm himself down then turned to look at her “You could of killed us both” he said.
Sam moved her hand to her forehead shakily, “I’m sorry, but I’m not going back to Rose Lawn. I hate it”
“I understand that, but you to listen to me. Someone will found out that you missing sooner or later and they will call the police, they will investigate and they will find out that you were on the train”
“Hector was on that train. Two other girls saw him” she moved her off the forehead and pointed her finger at her father.
“So let those girls tell the police to search for Hector. You don’t have to get involved”
She then moved her hand back to her forehead, “I need to see my son”
“Sam --” her father started to say and sighed, “You have been committed to a mental hospital. If you refuse to go back, you’ll only make things worse for yourself”
