  1. It is a stereotype sure, but also fairly accurate. Anyone "CAN" do that job almost right off the street. No education, no problem, and if you stick around for 6 months you just might be the manager, lol. Again, I am not saying it is right to think bad about those workers, just that it is what it is and trying to see it any other way is a waste of time. If we paid every worker in America the same amount of money and benefits who would waste their time in college to get a degree? Who would want to spend 8 years breaking their nards to get a doctor's degree if he can make the same money flipping burgers?
  2. I like the part where the woman had to wait a year for treatment and lost both her legs because of the wait......but some people think America can be the exception. I love it when the idiots spout "we are the only advanced Nation without universal healthcare". Well sure, every other Nation that has it has proven it sucks, why should we follow them over the cliff? Why not learn from their mistakes and avoid such horrible abuse of our people? Universal healthcare sucks universally for everyone. I also liked where two different people in the Canadian medical system advised the guys to seek their medical needs at private establishments. So even the workers of the system are admitting it is hopeless to get help.
  3. And I never said anything against you, just agreed with IWS about how "stuff happens" sometimes and we just have to deal with it. I would gladly take your issues though over mine, a couple days of digging up copies of your divorce decree or wondering every week if this is the week my visit is screwed with just because she can. I feel like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs every time I call that woman.........and my youngest is turning 9 this November, many years to go. Can you get a certified copy reduced and laminated to keep in the glovebox? How about changing your name to something truly original? Then when people want you to provide proof, it is reasonable? I might be persuaded to help come up with a few ideas for names if you like.........
  4. Ya think? I guess we will see, I wonder if you can just as loudly eat crow, lol. My guess is you will slink away from being wrong and never admit it.
  5. TRYING? They are associated, all "modern" liberals including yourself believe in redistribution of wealth and social babysitting ran by the Government paid for through massive taxes on those you feel are "rich". You said yourself, screw the insurance companies....well the insurance companies emply hundreds of thousands of people directly and indirectly so when you say screw insurance companies your really saying you want to get rid of hundreds of thousands of private sector jobs. So screw the rich guys who are employing people, what do we need them for anyway.......... Chump? Should I be devistated you resort to childish outbursts and insults? What cost us the last two elections was the swing of the average voter to try and get more handouts, "give me free, give me free" is now the montra of the Democratic party, lol. It is always harder to do what is right instead of what is popular. Your party is so stuck on your need to appease to maintain your power you have lost sight of what Liberal used to stand for.
  6. I was stealing something from a movie, striptease, where Burt Reynolds admitted to be infatuated with Demi Moore (who wouldn't have been) to the point he had his assistant steal her lint from the dryer and he made love to the lint...... Ya I know, I watch too many movies.
  7. It has been awile from the last time I checked but most States have basic at will employment laws with a few exceptions. Only 11 States have strict rules protect non-contracted employees but even those place the burdon of proof on the fired employee to prove their case. It is not fear mongering to tell the truth Bender. We are jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.
  8. ^^^I agree with IWS, We all make our choices. I also went through somne tough times with my divorce, credit cards she opend in my name and maxed out without me knowing about them cost me over 100k alone. My only salvation was to not have anything of hard value in my name, she didn't know that of course until her lawyer went looking and even today she will sometimes complain to me about that fact "screwing her over" by her not getting any money out of me for the homes or property that were in my mother's name instead of mine. She did get all the bank accounts and deposit box though and when asked where the money went by the judge she said she blew it on a trip she took because she was stressed out. If it was okay to clean out the cash for just her, then I don't feel bad for having myself protected in that small way.
  9. We will see what Government motors turns into, my guess is it will be like every other Government controlled thing ever produced. Crappy, filled with waste and corruption, and doomed to never being able to get off the Government tit. I am really interested in seeing the new designes and stuff they come up with now that it is controlled by Washington buracrats and unions. Ron Bloom, now there is a real gem for the Democratic party. Is there a single liberal big contributor who has not been rewarded big time by Obama with jobs they do not deserve and are not qualified for? I believe this whoe "Czar" thing is getting out of hand, almost like Obama is figuring out ways around his own congress.
  10. There is too much wrong with that question to really even attempt an answer, you may as well ask what you have accomplished and me take potshots at whatever you say. Your trying to play sniper, so I will not try to dicker back and forth with individual points other than to point out both sides have made contributions and both sides have added to the problems. The question is not so much to be defeated and say one group or another has done "nothing" because you saying that proves your speaking from an emotional outburst instead of a logical one. The question to ask is where do we go today? What path are we on today? I can care less about what word or tern was used to describe what kind of thinking many years ago, what I care about is how our Nation is turning socialist and how I feel that is the wrong thing for us to do. I have more in common with the old school liberals of old as your talking about sure, but times change and liberals today are socialists. Bender, it is you that makes you a socialist and it is wrong because the American constitution does not support that direction. Punnishing anyone with more money than you have is not the answer. You cannot force prosperity or equality of circumstances. Each person must find that themselves. Trying to force financial equality without people "earning" what they get is impossible. Nobody respects what they do not earn. This is why almost everyone who wins the lottery end up bankrupt. I did not misinterpret anything. I saw what was said and even posted his own words saying two different things in the same paragraph. Lastly it is not an insult to tell the truth, what is being described by Hayek is not what your savior Obama or anyone else in the Democratic party for that matter does day to day. The socialists he is talking about is people like you and Obama who have distorted the name Liberal for your own purposes.
  11. We had dirtbikes and such but my first vehicle as a product of being raised in the country doing farm work was of course a truck. 1973 ford 4x4 4 speed 360. I had been working and making my own money from the age of 12 doing farm work, construction, and even had a worm bed that made me 50 bucks a week selling them to a local stor that had a good fishing crowd. At 16 I took my own money and purchased the truck from one of the farmers I did side work for topping and suckering tobacco. I don't think the smile and stupid expression faded from my face for an entire year after buying that truck. Your first car (truck) is truly a great experience, at least it was for me.
  12. Notice the "in her mind" as well as the many she, she, she, she's? Selfishness. The way she twists the event inside her own mind is irrelivant. Casual sex ends where a child is produced, it is no longer casual and no longer only her decision. It takes two to tango my friend and there is no way her keeping this secrete has anything to do with anyone but herself. All of this woman's claims about trying to do what is best for the man is a lie, plain and simple. Here is the real deal: She was having casual and meaningless sex with this guy because he is not someone she sees as an equal or desirable person in her life. If she tells him and her family about the child being his there will social pressures to "get married" to a guy she does not respect or like in that way.... Telling him would complicate her life and that is why she does not want to tell him, selfishness. She does not want anything to do with the guy and a child will mess that up. Imagine the child going back and forth for visits and such disrupting her life......there is her issue with telling him. He was no more than a booty call to her so obviously his feelings are not her first concern in life. Besides. let's entertain for a momant that as a parent this woman "should" be considering what is best for the child, not herself. Again no matter what way you look at this situation her keeping it away from the father is for "HER", not him, So selfish. Lastly why is it even you IWS ignore the part where the woman will be living a constant stream of lies.....even to her own child? What about that? What about how all children raised without a father are more likely to get into criminal trouble, have difficulties in school, girls commit suicide 5 times more often without a father, girls also get pregnant as teens without a father more often and as an interesting addition, girls of women who have children out of wedlock are ten times more likely to become a mother as a teenager as well. What about the harm this woman will be doing to her child with this conceilment? I am looking at the entire situation, not any one part. Taken as a total, I see selfishness, nothing more.........oh, well something more, harm to the child.
  13. Casual sex is anything but once the act creates a life Ali. I call bullsh!t. She is only thinking of herself when she should be thinking of her child if nothing else. She has a responsibility to tell the father and to offer her child the best future possible.....and the best future will include a father in the child's life. Good or bad father, being raised without even knowing they have a father is very, very bad for a child.
  14. Well nobody said being a woman would be all good you know, there must be a few tiny negatives here and there to go with the good things like free dinners and free drinks at the bar, lol.
  15. Hell yes, not only should we rejoice that our current spending is driving up record deficits.......you know what we should do? We should thumb our noses on rational and reasonable spending and throw caution to the wind by creating a bunch a new massive spending programs at the same time......that would be the right thing to do.
  16. It is natural for humans to create a "pecking order". I think your claim of being seen as "sub-human" is a tad over done but the workers are seen as the least desirable segment of the work force. Who actually "wants" to work at a fast food establishment? If given a choice between cleaning out the deep fryer for $7.00 an hour or working at a desk making $28.00 an hour, what would you think the average fast food worker would choose as the most desirable? I personally do not look down on that level of worker, but I also know that it is up to that individual to change their own life "if they want to". I actually employ a couple minimum wage guys every now and then for unskilled labor when I am very busy with construction and do not want to pay a higher wage person for trips to the dump and such. Several of them have moved up to trade work for me or people I know where I recommended them for a job. Most have been fired for not showing up for work or being lazy, or they just quit because it was 'too hard' for them. An interesting story: I worked at a fast food place called Krystal's for three months as a teenager. I went into work to pick something up on my day off and saw they had two guys working three grills for rush when I ran all three grills by myself when I worked so I went to the manager and requested a raise. I explained that if I could do the work of two guys then I deserved a raise. The manager tried to bully me and told me no, so I quit. And yes, I took great delight in going by and seeing them work two guys to replace me, lol. My point is even as a teenager I knew my worth and while I was willing to work harder than those around me, I also felt I should be compensated for my greater and more productive work, so I kept looking for a place where I could get that kind of compensation.
  17. If she believed he was as important as she is there would be no debate in her mind. It is called respect, if she respected him she would inform him of something this important. The creation of life is special and world changing. I agree with emkay, if I have created a life, I would want to know about it, "blood is thicker than water" and all that. If she respected him, she would tell him. Protection used or not, that does not change the reality or the responsibility involved. It is purely selfish to keep this very important thing from the father. As I pointed out, not telling the father means a lifetime of lies, to everyone around her (friends, family, etc who ask about the father) and she will even have to lie to their child. And you want to talk about custody? Let's say in 5 years the truth comes out, and the father is pissed and goes before a judge to get custody, emkay is right about how difficult it is to get a child away from a mother, but a Judge would be very upset at the fact the mother tried to keep the father out of the child's life, depending on the Judge she could easily lose custody based on that alone. A comedian once said something like this (not exact): Raising a child without a father is like driving your car with your feet, while it is certainly possible to do it, just being able to do it does not make it a good idea Raising a child is a very huge responsibility, why turn away from a possible resource for her child to turn to for love, support, and advise? Both girls and boys show severe results being raised without an active father in their life even if they have a large extended family on just the mother's side.
  18. Bull, just because I do not embrace or agree what you believe that does not mean I do not read what you read. It is pure arrogance to believe I should get the same revelations you think is obvious when you read something........your mindset is already blind socialist, so anything that feeds your feeling of being right is just fluff for your head filled with hot air. The writer jumps all over the place, at one moment saying one thing then the next moment saying another. Yes he says his use of liberal is similar to "libertarian" but he also says at the end of the same paragraph: So he contradicts himself. What you liked from the writing was his constant description of conservatives as being blockers of progress and wanting to control things but he is wrong. It is the Conservatives (not Republicans) who have been preaching to let free markets decide their future and to drop Government attempts to artificially control the markets. Anyway Bender, you can't say your messiah Obama is doing the things Hayek is mentioning like letting change happen on it's own, in fact many of the things he claims Conservatives do are what Obama and the liberal elite are doing right now...........So based on this piece from Hayek, are Liberals really Conseratives in the way they want to dictate and control everything? Interesting...........................
  19. But as IWS tried to inform you, she "DOES NOT" have access to that money. There are laws on how that money can be spent and it is strictly enforced. It cannot be used for her legal bills... There may be book deals and such, sure and that is another reason people are trying to go after her........how often do you see homeless or poor people persecuted like this?
  20. And that is the point, as long as we are more frozen by the fear of never offending people, we are also not being proactive, not really living either. That is the biggest problem with being ruled by the need to be PC.
  21. So what? Give up? Do nothing? Stop trying? I do not buy the 'give up' mentality and certainly not when we are talking about kids ruining their life before it is ever started. This program is having great success with the girls who are at the highest risk for teen pregnancy, hard to argue with success. If paying them with college money (no direct funds) is what it takes to reduce welfare payments then why not? I call it a win/win situation. Not only did you avoid putting two people on lifetime welfare, but you have also taken the same girl and offered her a higher education and a greater respect for herself.........oh don't forget the higher education means she will most likely get a good job and pay some taxes into the system versus the other option that is all massive Government spending without ever getting anything in return. Welfare done by the community by private people is a positive thing and builds a feeling of respect and responsibility to the one getting the help. Welfare run By the Government is seen as "free money" and has the opposite effect. It is pure waste before the person ever gets a dime anyway because the Government cannot get past their need for buracracy that gobbles up most of the funds anyway. There is no gurantee of prosperity in life, the promise is for equal opportunity.....not equal results.
  22. This says it all for me, and it is only the conservatives (at this time) who offer at least some support for my core values of responsibility. Every Liberal/Socialist does not believe in this concept quoted, so there is no way I can support them.
  23. It is not pandering if she really believes in the rights she is supporting....right? Do you believe everyone must have alterior motives behind everything a politician says? Of course you do, and that is why Sarah is such an enigma to most of you guys, you just do not know how to take someone who is honest and does not Govern from opinion polls. Universal appeal? What is that? Is that someone who tells you what you want to hear about "change" but once they get into office they turn their back on all of their promises like Obama has done? Maybe Sarah Palin will never make it to the "big show" but is it not a shame that only false people can get elected these days? Obama lied, lied, and lied some more and today is not anything like the man he promised to be when he was running for election. I would vote for Sarah because she at least has her own morals and her own agenda as well as her own idea of what things need to be done that are not swayed by opinion polls. Sarah would not wait days and days for the polls to come out before calling the Iran actions against it's people as wrong for example.....Sarah knows it is wrong without someone telling her it is wrong.
  24. The first major mistake in the work is to try and show liberals and socialists on opposite sides of the "triangle" with conservatives on the third side. It seems to me the writer is mixing time frames, blending his definitions to try and paint coinservatives as simply a "blocking" group while everyine else is offering great ideas that they just want to resist. Go back 30 years ago and you get the Liberal who was not a conservative, today is is a very rare seperation. The blue dog liberals fit that description, everyone else is a socialist. As I was reading I was wondering if this writer actually ever saw anything that was happening in the American political field. Liberals want unfettered change? To let things take their course? That Conservatives were the ones regulating things and limiting things? Who right now wants complete control of all the banks.....liberals or conservatives? Obama has asked that he even be allowed to take over any private business to control it if "HE" feels it is needed. Who took over GM? Who wants to limit pay to every company, not just the ones in trouble? It was the liberals who forced banks to offer risky loans through fannie and freddie and that caused the economic downfall. The liberals were not just letting things happen the way they happen as the writer tries to imply, the Liberals tried to "force" prosperity and in turn caused a thousand times more harm in the long run. I will agree on one area, many Republicans are no longer conservatives and have joined the Liberals/Socialists on their side of the rope. I do believe that the socialist agenda will win, it is all about baby steps.
