  1. As usual my possition will be mostly based on responsibility. The act of sexual relations is in of itself an act that can have many, many things result from it and "BOTH" people involved must accept responsibility for those possible things. A woman who would refuse to inform the other half of the situation of what has happened is purely selfish in nature. If the guy was that unsavory.....why screw him? If he was good enough to trust your life to (possible disease, guy could kill you, etc...) then he is good enough to be involved in the childs life. The thing that seems to be implied in Ali's scenario is somehow the woman is "above" the man in some way, that the man is considered to be irrelivant to the woman, otherwise, why not tell him? I believe the woman should be compelled to tell the man and even if he does not transform as IWS did (I also completely changed when my first child was born) then at least the child can know the truth instead of whatever lie the mother will tell for years and years to cover up the truth. These lies would be in many cases more damaging than the truth could ever be. What do you say? Daddy died? Daddy ran off? Daddy was abusive so we ran away to be safe? Suppose you told these lies for 18 years and suddenly the child learned the truth, that daddy was just a one night stand you were ashamed of......how much would that child suddenly resent your years of lies? Could the suddenly understood lies cause real trama? Too much is at stake, and too much damage is done when people try to run away from their responsiblity in my humble opinion.
  2. Now who is looking for the shallow and fast answer without looking deeper? I tell you what, name the 40 year tradition that suddenly was stopped when Bush took office............. I did think it was unfair to blame Bush for some things, but I didn't object to them just from automatic kneejerk excuse making no matter what it was. I always looked behind the claims. For example I do not think it was fair to blame him for Katrina.....but it was his fault for not securing Iraq better at the beginning of the invasion that led to a lot of lost lives from IED's supplied from Iran. So the question is, does a 40 year program that is suddenly stopped after Obama takes office make it look reasonable to assume he is responsible? I say yes.

  6. The best installer I have is a green card holding Cuban. In over three years he has called in not able to come to work 2 times. He has been sick and I have sent him home for it but he has always made it to work outside of those two days. He has earned steady raises by being the most dependable installer I have. To put it in his words "I got bills to pay man". He is always the first guy to volunteer for overtime and out of town work. He never complains about work conditions or needing new tools, in fact I see him trying to make do with worn out tools all the time and I have to just get him new ones and swap them out.
  7. An Idaho community had secured an Air Force flyover for its local festival every year for more than 40 years So what is the only difference between 40 years of "YES"......and now an out of the blue "NO"?

  9. You should read them. Even people who hold ideas we do not always agree with can offer us insight, new ways of looking at things. I even read Richard Dawkins stuff.
  10. The waitress does not have to "STAY" a waitress. I do not look down on a waitress or anyone else but I see the fact that only that person can undergo the actions to improve their life. Just like your doing now Bender. You lost your job and your now taking action, big action at that, to improve your situation, bold really. Again, why do you live a life of taking action to be responsible for yourself but you preach that some people are incapable of doing the same thing? If anyone is "looking down" on people it is you. Your saying some people "can't" take care of themselves. That somehow they are too stupid to function the way you function. I say 99% of the people in this world have the same abilities me and you have to find a way........if they are motivated with the same work ethic we have that is.   11. Yes. The poor are poor because they want to be poor 99% of the time. Wallowing in their "downtrodden" status offers comfort. It is easier to complain and hold your hand out for "free" goodies from the Government than to actually go out there and work. Again, Bender, you do not live the way you preach, I wonder at how you can work hard and take responsibility for your own prosperity but you also believe other people do not have the same ability you have.
  12. Works for me, lol. Sure some shows might fall into that bracket but even the news shows blow away all the other networks, and even the cable shows like Hannity and O'Reilly have quadruple the ratings of all the other shows combined in their time slots.

I think I am the same way, some may not want to break bread with me but I only had one incident where I let someone on the internet get under my skin and I will never let that happen again......life is too short to take stuff over the internet to heart. You might have thought I was joking about letting you stay at my river house but I wasn't. You are a tough person to get along with sometimes I will admit that, but I know your not really that different from me, maybe too much alike in a few ways

Sounds good for both of you, I know history is tough to live down, I hope you guys can find whatever you need to let that happen because it sounds like your still dealing with it, forgive me if I am wrong. Anyway, you guys one year earlier would have done better, things were already sliding backward so that made starting out much more difficult. I do feel bad you guys came down to Florida just to be dissapointed, I hope Georgia works out well for you guys.
  20. Nope, and is one of my big dissapointments from when the Republicans had the majority, they never had the kind of majority Obama has, but they should have worked harder to get it through. Obama has already promised to not consider any reforms, says it is unfair to patients.

  23. I don't know what they will say but I to a point agree with you, Bush did many, many things I did not agree with. Sure most of them were when he was trying to reinvent himself but your right, when Bush had a mostly Republican Congress they did spend, spend, spend a lot of money........but there is one problem. Take all their extra spending over all the years they had power and you still do not get as much money as Obama has wasted in one stroke of his pen with the "stimulus package". 6 years of war spending for both Afganistan and Iraq combined.......less money than the "stimulus package". Obama is just getting warmed up, the healthcare program will again be way more than 6 years of war on two continents. Give the man some time, whole new possibilities have just opened up with the magic number being hit.......it is like hitting the political lottery for Obama, I bet he is drooling all over himself, lol.
  24. Hey, give me a heads up and I will gladly hang out with you. We do not agree on much but I don't take anything personal. I actually thought of your fella a couple months ago when I was riping out a bunch of carpeting and putting down hardwood floors (best thing I ever did) but I figured Tampa was too far to travel for just 5 rooms and a hallway.. Georgia is not that far away, you should come down when football starts and we can go catch a home game, I have a block of 8 seats on season tickets and my buddy gets the 8 above those every year and I can hook you two up if you want. Most of the reason I believe people are leaving is this is a very service related State, everything feeds off of the colleges and the resorts and the economy has seriously slowed down the resorts. I don't mind though, my circles are still hanging in there so we will just have to wait and see how ;ong it takes the all-powerful Obama machine to fix everything for us
